sometimes weapons are needed but i prefer not to carry anything i wouldnt use. When i go to seattle i carry 3 knives if i need it for protection but even still i consider them a last resort. I agree that knives are a tool and you shouldnt carry weapons that are illegal without cause.

I have one question, you are a well prepared man, do you have somesort of personal alarm devices or such? Im a almost 7" guy and yes I do carry a personal alarm. Gun laws dont allow weapons to be carried in public with out permits here. Even objects intended to harm people are grounds for arrest and you would get a small fine for those. Kubotas and such. My EDC does include a leatherman for two reasons, it can be used as a kubota and it is a tool. I also carry one/two really good flashlights.

@chuckles731 1st you're working with DC voltage. 2nd you can raise voltage via transformers or by storing it in capacitors. By raising the voltage you lower the amps, thereby making it "safe". Taking 2 9volts and jacking them up to 500,000, you will discharge the batteries at a high rate. i.e. just a few bursts before needing replacements.

those pegs on the knuckles are so they can market them as belt buckles. I've seen knuckles advertised as paperweights as well though, but they lack the peg I believe. by the way I have the same pair of knuckles as the one you purchased all so. I agree, I would never carry them.

The reason a stun gun works for self defense without being lethal is because, while it is 500,000 volts, it is very low amperage.

The voltage gives it enough electrical potential to pass through living tissue(ie holding both ends of a battery won't shock you, voltage too low) and it also causes the muscles to spasm rapidly and use up their glycogen, thus incapaciting a person until their body makes more glycogen.

For electrical shock to kill, it needs more amps.

@enderzand In theory the low ampere rating on the stun gun is non lethal however there is a reason only armed cops are allowed to carry them in the UK and that is because the high volts can put a pacemaker out of sync and can be lethal in such cases. A brief history on sap gloves of the lead shot design there other name is belfast gloves as they where developed for british troops in belfast for rapid peace restoring without discharging their firearm

Yawaras I think have deeper knurling (like one of the two smaller ones you showed) for rolling over pressure points and can be used for striking. As far as I remember kubotans are mostly for striking and pressing with the tip(s).
