I finally reached the point where I could play this piece a few months ago. I learned the published version as well, and I agree it's a little thin. What's the sequence you're playing as accompaniment in the measures where the published version just has the octave and then moves up a half-step in the bass line? (For example, the measure that starts around 1:14 in your video.) I can recognize it from the original recording but I'm not an ear player so I can't pick out the notes themselves.
@krotap Thank you. Alas I borrowed the score I used for the video from a library and no longer have it available. I don't remember making any additions to the written notes, and wonder if maybe you have a simplified version. I used one of the MusicSales Essential Film Themes Books - can't remember which but you can do a search for the title on MusicRoom.
Im actually I have been a fan of yours ever since I heard you playing "Yiruma's" ! I enjoyed your music very much and please keep playing and God bless!! :)
@Ktealee100 Thank you. There are so many beautiful piano pieces out there, and what you like may not be what I like! I suggest you explore the many piano videos on YouTube and see what else you like. Do a search on 'piano love theme' and see what comes up!
@TheShuckleProduction Congratulations! You will get a great deal of pleasure from playing. I have played for over 45 years, but there are lots of pieces you can play with considerably less years of work!
You remind me of my piano teacher when playing this and having to be so technical although you and he always played beautifully I prefer to play with a bit more romance, taking my inspitiation from the Romantics or eve the 21st century!!
Thank you. I don't like to overdo the expression in this sort of music (although I certainly do in some of the Victorian salon music I have recorded here).
Thank you for that kind comment. I hope your 'big day' is a great success. Maybe I should put this song on my list of music suggestions on my wedding music website!
He wrote a 15 minute opera called 'Gesualdo' for Scottish Opera in 2008 - they did a series of very short operas. (I once wrote a 10-minute opera myself, but don't think it is up to Scottish Opera standards somehow!)
I was on the verge of writing: "but it sounds British, not Portuguese"!, and then I've read your info. and understood the connection. Thanks for uploading. it's beautiful.

Yes, that's what I've meant. I didn't see this movie, but I guess this Protuduese housekeeper must have been lucky with this love and music ;)
By the way - did he composed only one opera? and if so - what is its name? Thanks again.
