  • I finally reached the point where I could play this piece a few months ago. I learned the published version as well, and I agree it's a little thin. What's the sequence you're playing as accompaniment in the measures where the published version just has the octave and then moves up a half-step in the bass line? (For example, the measure that starts around 1:14 in your video.) I can recognize it from the original recording but I'm not an ear player so I can't pick out the notes themselves.

  • @krotap Thank you. Alas I borrowed the score I used for the video from a library and no longer have it available. I don't remember making any additions to the written notes, and wonder if maybe you have a simplified version. I used one of the MusicSales Essential Film Themes Books - can't remember which but you can do a search for the title on MusicRoom.

  • @Ktealee100 Thank you. There are so many beautiful piano pieces out there, and what you like may not be what I like! I suggest you explore the many piano videos on YouTube and see what else you like. Do a search on 'piano love theme' and see what comes up!

  • Hello, I began playing only today. How long have you been playing? Thanks in advance.

  • @TheShuckleProduction Congratulations! You will get a great deal of pleasure from playing. I have played for over 45 years, but there are lots of pieces you can play with considerably less years of work!

  • Simply loved this song! Greetings from João Pessoa-Brazil!

  • @cybellesaffa Thank you very much. I wish I was in Brazil just now - here in UK it is -8 degrees celsius as I write!

  • Thanks for the kind comment. Maybe you have more talent than me but

have not yet had the opportunity to realise it.

  • this is really beautiful. you are a wonderful pianist :)

  • That's really kind. Thank you!

  • You remind me of my piano teacher when playing this and having to be so technical although you and he always played beautifully I prefer to play with a bit more romance, taking my inspitiation from the Romantics or eve the 21st century!!

  • Thank you. I don't like to overdo the expression in this sort of music (although I certainly do in some of the Victorian salon music I have recorded here).

  • I love this piece as Love Actually is one of my favourite movies! I think you play this beautifully - I'm walking down the isle to this song!

  • Thank you for that kind comment. I hope your 'big day' is a great success. Maybe I should put this song on my list of music suggestions on my wedding music website!

  • you're excellent...this is beautiful

  • Very beautiful, I can't decide whether I prefer this or Glasgow Love Theme.

  • Maybe I should play that too tio help you choose!

  • This is a very pretty tune. Nice performance. Tom

  • Thank you Tom - sorry for the delay in responding!

  • Yes, that's what I've meant. I didn't see this movie, but I guess this Protuduese housekeeper must have been lucky with this love and music ;)

By the way - did he composed only one opera? and if so - what is its name? Thanks again.

  • He wrote a 15 minute opera called 'Gesualdo' for Scottish Opera in 2008 - they did a series of very short operas. (I once wrote a 10-minute opera myself, but don't think it is up to Scottish Opera standards somehow!)

  • Thank you

  • I was on the verge of writing: "but it sounds British, not Portuguese"!, and then I've read your info. and understood the connection. Thanks for uploading. it's beautiful.

  • Thanks - I don't think there is anything Portuguese in the music itself at all!
