Never trained in 52 blocks but from what I see they have great techniques though I might some of it seems over stylized. Great defensive blocks, hands high using elbows to block, guard and counter. Do 52's use finger strikes to eyes, open hands to ears and elbows? Also, do you prefer to stand toe-to-toe, trapping range etc? Is this primarily a striking style with fists? Any ground work or defense? I'm curious to learn more 52's principles! Keep up the good work!
@killerkravist yeah you know what spoken like a true artist of fighting. I couldn't have said it better. I've done the boxing, kung fu, now into mma and i can see the potential in a lot of what they do. Shielding with the elbows into elbow strikes, and a lot of counters.
There is some value in the 52 blocks. And I'm not trying to talk shit or anything.... But it's hard to hit someone in the head when their constantly changing their directions and open target like that. Though I don't think I like the head guy's attitude about the take down defense, you can elbow to the head in MMA from my understanding, and people get taken down all the time in UFC. Combine some of those 52 blocks with some more stuff and it'll help your fighting. It is boxing defense...

The 52 looks good, from my expierence it works in bare knockle fights, however the Jkd/Kali dude sucks balls I don't know where he learned his craft from, but it wasn't under any Guro Inosanto, or any of his people. Keep posting the 52, if u already know some boxing u can add it to ur arsenal.
I almost wish MMA was never released now everybody suddenly thinks they are a martial arts expert because they've seen silva, GSP or whoever else fight. They don't fight a streetfight either. Even MMA has rules and when your in a streetfight there are none and it's a totally different scenario. Not to mention MMA is exactly what it says it is. Yes, many martial arts style became commercial, but still, all of the popular ones, Kung Fu, Muay Thai, Karate.., they have been developed over hundreds of years and the experience that lies in them is unimaginable. My uncle has been training Muay Thai in a traditional village since he is 3 years old - you wouldn't stand a chance against him. You are practising a skill there which has been created within a few years by amateurs in some prisons, that's a joke

Which time is longer 100years or 1000years? When Hundreds of years compared to the time 52 has existed you can clearly see which is superior. in addition, the eygiptians had ssurgury and specialized doctors or specialists by todays standards. Seeing as Eygypt was a military state for sometime (constant wars), and the weapons of the time (excep for arrows) we close quarters, is it not reasonable to conclude that a martial art would develop?
@greati9 Name the Egyptian art, show where in 52 there is an Egyptian technique, then show the traditional Egyptian technique and name it. If your claim is true, then there should be an art resembling 52 in Egypt. Can you show us this art? If you say the original Egyptians are no longer in Egypt, they are in the Sudan and Nubia, they should have a similar art. They DO have arts in these areas, but they do not look like 52 and the principles are not the same, if I'm wrong, please show me.

However just as one doesnt have to burn thier hand to know fire is dangerous equally, i dont have to visit africa to learn basics about its culture. especially when their are plenty of resources availble for information that Africans have provided. I doubt 52 has any origins in the Nile valley. If it does have African origins it would be from the countries of coastal west and central Africa. That's where the slaves came from,not east Africa. This is why capoeira can be traced to Angola.
@CrowdPleeza I'm actually pretty aware of most African martial arts, practice a few from Africa and also diasporan arts. I've also studied martial arts and have lived in Africa. I have not seen a direct link between Egypt and 52. No one has informed me of any new information as of yet. I do like the 52 style and even if it were made up in America or based on Egyptian or any African principles it's still a good thing. Hopefully they will not promote anything false, which is very harmful.

Martial arts normally form from an understanding of medicine, a military need (to defend oneself from armies or to attack others) and timing (some say balance but it is really timing). Egypt was the first civilization to have surgeons, specialists (foot doctors, eye doctors). Inaddition, egypt was in a perpetual state of war. The timing of the nile was vital to the life of every egyptians life.

These Egyptian arts have names, those names do not contain the number 52. This being said, there are good principles involved with 52, it can work on the street, but 52 as practiced and shown here is not Egyptian. Can you name the Egyptian arts? I can. Have you been to Africa? I have.

But as a style and regarding the actual movements, I can not find a link to Egypt, this doesn't mean there isn't one. If a link could or can be made, this is very significant! Martial Science and cultural history are a passion of mine and I simply like to research and practice. I think 52 does have a more exact history but I dont believe its been told yet

I too am both a scholar and a practitioner. lol I have already made plausible links but concret links as of yet are scanty. all martial arts develop in one way or another from application of medical knowledge to military tactic and the principal of timing. Namely that there is a time for everything. iwthout the later a martial art simply cannot exist. Without the prior it wouldnt be efficent.
@greati9 I don't disagree, there are many plausible links from Egypt or near Egypt to many of the oldest martial arts, especially when we consider the various forms of stick fighting. There are going to be some Universal principles for all martial arts as the Human being has its specific laws of Geometry and Physics. From my own research I see (and practice) an even stronger link with the Spiritual than I do for anything else. It will be beneficial to Know the specific details of 52's design. 20

I see your point, but you could say the same about any other martial art. Kung Fu is based on meditation, which is as old as anything you mentioned there, thousands of years. The understanding of the human body? Traditional martial arts certainly have more, and CC strategies of the military have its origins in traditional styles. I don't want to argue forever, 52 Blocks is a good style, but I dislike the disrespect here against traditional styles, as they are far superior

This is not to say that kung fu and other asian arts arts are inferior ro 52. the commercial versions would never win. 52 blocks is just as good as any asian martial art if not better. The practioners are put under real life tests are the time. In fact 52blocks is a traditional style. Since it was created around the same ime and has the same back ground it is equal to kung fu.

The guys in prison are the ones who are really in a life or death situation all day..... just like the traditional martial artists of many other styles.... 1000 years back, the fight was to the death and styles were modified and improved over time.Today the fight is to the death in prison and they used intuitively what felt like it worked best in that harsh environment to survive. It is still evolving,there are some good movements in this style.
i dont disaprove any form of martial art, this seems effective but you need to have respect for other disciplines. I see by the comments that some may think Karate, Muay Thai, etc is full of it but you dont know that until you face the cream of the crop. Some of the moves that you did wouldnt hold against a pro muay thai fighter, the kicks would penetrate way too forcefully, a pro boxer will have power and speed that will leave you questioning. But like i said, i dont hate or disaprove any form.
@CSMixedMartialArts I fought the best of the best and fighters in the mainstream fight circuits are not the best . All that Karate , muay thai etc was taught by my people to other people . We taught them a weaker strain of combat this is why yall concentrate on offense . But just like constellations n nakmeezy n the rest of them , the tune changes when you are in the range of my reach . I got 52 blocks that will shut down your offense .

This is bull. Nobody ever fully committed to any strike. Even in the multiple attacker scenario, yeah right. You'll get ran over with the one arm face blocking, circus clown fight technique. Remember, there is nothing new under the sun. 52 blocks sure as hell ain't new.
@bruceleroy98 the reason being that fully commiting to a strike with these types of blocks would lead to someone breaking there hands or worse. Plus if your facing any art that focuses on defense would you really commit yourself to an attack when there is no openning?
Point taken danieljones, but I think you misunderstand my point. In sparring, the aim should be not to hurt one another, but to perfect technique. There is always an opening, and some openings have to be created. That should not cause you to break your knuckles or what have you. The blocks being used while although confusing and illusive in appearance, only provide a temporary defense against a well versed fighter. Respect to you and other 52 fighters.One.

This looks like, well, any ole sparring. Only, they're asking to get taken down or kicked in the nuts. Why is it that guys say--taking me down is the worst mistake, I'll elbow you to death? LOL, (1) your weight drops back, makes the elbow incredibly weak, (2) we don't just reach down for your legs. You shoot in much lower, attacking the knee.
Takedown defense is always easy, that is, if the guy doing the takedown has no clue what he's doing.

Never trained in 52 blocks but from what I see they have great techniques though I might some of it seems over stylized. Great defensive blocks, hands high using elbows to block, guard and counter. Do 52's use finger strikes to eyes, open hands to ears and elbows? Also, do you prefer to stand toe-to-toe, trapping range etc? Is this primarily a striking style with fists? Any ground work or defense? I'm curious to learn more 52's principles! Keep up the good work!

There is some value in the 52 blocks. And I'm not trying to talk shit or anything.... But it's hard to hit someone in the head when their constantly changing their directions and open target like that. Though I don't think I like the head guy's attitude about the take down defense, you can elbow to the head in MMA from my understanding, and people get taken down all the time in UFC. Combine some of those 52 blocks with some more stuff and it'll help your fighting. It is boxing defense...

Yes, many martial arts style became commercial, but still, all of the popular ones, Kung Fu, Muay Thai, Karate.., they have been developed over hundreds of years and the experience that lies in them is unimaginable. My uncle has been training Muay Thai in a traditional village since he is 3 years old - you wouldn't stand a chance against him. If your claim is true, then there should be an art resembling 52 in Egypt. Can you show us this art? I have not seen a direct link between Egypt and 52. No one has informed me of any new information as of yet. I do like the 52 style and even if it were made up in America or based on Egyptian or any African principles it's still a good thing. Hopefully they will not promote anything false, which is very harmful.

The timing of the nile was vital to the life of every egyptians life.

Namely that there is a time for everything. iwthout the later a martial art simply cannot exist. Without the prior it wouldnt be efficent.

There are going to be some Universal principles for all martial arts as the Human being has its specific laws of Geometry and Physics. The understanding of the human body? Traditional martial arts certainly have more, and CC strategies of the military have its origins in traditional styles. i dont disaprove any form of martial art, this seems effective but you need to have respect for other disciplines. I see by the comments that some may think Karate, Muay Thai, etc is full of it but you dont know that until you face the cream of the crop. Some of the moves that you did wouldnt hold against a pro muay thai fighter, the kicks would penetrate way too forcefully, a pro boxer will have power and speed that will leave you questioning. But like i said, i dont hate or disaprove any form.

This is bull. Nobody ever fully committed to any strike. Even in the multiple attacker scenario, yeah right. You'll get ran over with the one arm face blocking, circus clown fight technique. Remember, there is nothing new under the sun. 52 blocks sure as hell ain't new.

@bruceleroy98 the reason being that fully commiting to a strike with these types of blocks would lead to someone breaking there hands or worse. Plus if your facing any art that focuses on defense would you really commit yourself to an attack when there is no openning?

Point taken danieljones, but I think you misunderstand my point. In sparring, the aim should be not to hurt one another, but to perfect technique. There is always an opening, and some openings have to be created. That should not cause you to break your knuckles or what have you. The blocks being used while although confusing and illusive in appearance, only provide a temporary defense against a well versed fighter. Respect to you and other 52 fighters.One.

This looks like, well, any ole sparring. Only, they're asking to get taken down or kicked in the nuts. Why is it that guys say--taking me down is the worst mistake, I'll elbow you to death? LOL, (1) your weight drops back, makes the elbow incredibly weak, (2) we don't just reach down for your legs. You shoot in much lower, attacking the knee.
Takedown defense is always easy, that is, if the guy doing the takedown has no clue what he's doing.
