This song helped me get over my dad's death, as the lyrics reflected his thoughts (he was depressed, knew it, and for his own reasons chose no treatment). I loved and respected this man greatly and accepted that he really did see life as a struggle from which only death would set him free. He's free now.
@daughterofRMS I am sorry to hear this. I too considered the freedom Roger spoke of but I have two little ones who need me. My prayers are with you!!
@crossingtheswamp1972 Thank you for your prayers and your kind words...I'm grateful for both. Grateful, too, that you made the choice you did, so that you're here for those two little ones. They need you more than you know...
Roger Miller and my Daddy were first cousins, sadly I never knew Roger. All of his songs are great. I have clenical depression, and this is MY FAVORITE song by him. Thank you for posting it , so much appricate it. I have a picture of my Grandma ( Grace Gray ) sister of Arjellia Gray Miller, and Roger is with them when he was about 8 years old. A family heirloom for sure.
Thanks for sharing!

@pmul246 Same, as a kid I remember my dad playing this song. More into Charley Pride, but this Roger Miller track sticks in my mind
