In my opinion Hard Trance is the origin of Hardstyle.

Hard trance is a subgenre of trance, which was focused on the bass and a little more faster in the melody then the common trance.

After few years, a big fanbase came up. People who just loved it, to get their ears raped by a big fat bassline.

As soon it´s called Hardstyle, the structure of the song is going for the 4x4kick beat. Also typical, the digital made sound for the melody use this "echo/hall" effect.
