@stevenscottoddballz I guess they're sharp, but it's not something you feel when they're eating. Also, this type of chicken (hen really) is usually very calm and friendly. I can pick them right up and I can even clip their wings without problems or too much protest.
@mGoLos Aw, LUCKY! I LOVE wildlife, & would LOVE to hold a chicken! You should see my face when I read "Birds & Blooms" & see the LUCKY people holding a hummingbird on their finger. Talk about jealous rage!
@stevenscottoddballz Animals are wonderful people.Chickens have a funny defense mechanism as well. Just quickly lay your hand on the back of one and often it'll sit down and try to look big, then you can pet it, not without serious protest, but they don't peck. Hilarious.
Aw, COOL! That's funny! I had heard also something about laying a chicken down, drawing a line in front of it, & it won't move. Is this true? If so, what is the chicken's "reasoning"?
@stevenscottoddballz Apparently it's a real thing and they call it chicken hypnotism (Wikipedia). Thanks for the tip .. it's raining right now, but later I'll try different methods. Drawing a line seems to be the easiest way to do it and it'll stay hypnotized for for a good while, but you can also grab it firmly, put it's head under it's wing and lastly you can risk your eyes, get close and stare it down through sheer domination. Damn. Gotta write this down for a cracked article, haha
WOW! We had a MAJOR storm here! {I'm in the southern part of New York) The thunder ACTUALLY SHOOK the apartment windows! YIKES! I don't have my computer, monitor, or printer plugged in at those times! You go RIGHT ahead & write the "Cracked" article! I'd like to see that! Do you think you would be making a video of one of your chickens hypnotized?
@stevenscottoddballz I hate extreme weather. With all the talk of climate change it just seems much more frightening now. An island of my nation called Bornholm literally disappeared in snow last winter. I got my share of it, but they we're in real trouble for a while there. Anyways, I'm trying to get that video for you and it's proving hard-ish, but check out the video-blog I just made about my chickens and house, it should be up by now :)

Don't chickens have sharp beaks? If so, how do you keep them from pecking your hand too hard?
