  • Americans don't throw away the roe because it's wasteful. we do it because it is their reproductive organs... but ya. have fun with that.

  • what exactly is the red part? and what does it taste like?

  • @bnel890 That's the roe of the scallop. I really don't know how they taste, though.

  • those are some fat scollys!!

  • They're massive! Never seen them thet big! That's like the size of three scallops we get here in Perth, Western Australia.

  • @johnniwonton1976 Same in NZ :-) I wonder if the scallops shown taste as good?

  • @Critters1972 SCALLOP BURGER!

  • I have known the roe, or coral, to be used as the bases of a sauce, great colour. I think it was liquidized into a light fish sauce, possibly a reduction with vermouth, fish stock and cream.

  • Well, my uncle, the person I go scalloping with, has a sucker, where it sucks everything out except the mussel or in other words, the part you eat, so much easier =]

  • Nothing tastes better than an ocean scallop.

  • id eat that raw after u put that under cold water

  • yum

  • Hmm... what do you use that orange/white sack thing attached to the scallop for?

  • that sack is actually scallop roe. it is quite tasty. serve it with the scallop, but be sure not to overcook it. it cooks faster than the scallop.

  • Americans tend to throw that part away, not knowing that it actually tastes quite good.

  • It's because Americans are wasteful

  • u eat it..

  • looks delicious!
