Thank you for posting this. I have a 7 month old kitten who is showing these exact seizure signs. We're taking her to the vet tomorrow, but I wanted to try and find something similar to her condition so I would have a better idea of what might be wrong with her. I also took a video of her to show the vet.
my cat had to be put to sleep cuz of diabetic shock like she keep meowin aand wen i got home from skool she was just layin there and her head was flopped to the side and her eyes wide open and i pet her and she didnt move and i started to shake her she didnt move then b4 we took her outside to burry her she started to move and meow real loud and we had to take her to the vet and they said they couldnt do nothin bout so they put her to sleep or if they didnt she woukld of suffered
my cat had to be put to sleep cuz of diabetic shock cuz she wouldnt move and she looked dead and every couple minutes she would move then start meowin real loud:,(
About 3 Or So Days Ago My Kittens Mouth Started Twitching, Her Eyes Went Wide And She Started Shaking And Drooling Then When I Tried To Pick Her Up She Scratched Me And Started Running Around Funny My Parents Wouldnt Let Me Take Her To The Vet Though Im Just Worried About Her Because She's Only A Little Over A Month :(
This reminds me of my friends cat Sherry Kitten had seizures like this, along with drooling and runny eyes. Eventually they got worse and it was discovered why she was having seizures, runny eyes, and drooling was amazingly part of her brain didn't form. Glad your kitty is feeling better, sadly sherry kitten didn't make it her heart stopped on it's own about a month shy of her six month mark.
This video was reviewed by several veterinarians, and they confirmed that it was a real seizure. This particular one was caused by hypoglycemia. Like humans, animals experience many kinds of seizures, and they all present different symptoms. Had my cat experienced a grand mal seizure, he would have looked and acted quite different. I posted this video to show other owners of diabetic cats what a hypoglycemic seizure looks like, because I had no idea what they looked like at first.
This is not a seizure. When animals have real seizures, they are unconscious during the episode. This cat responded to touch and made eye contact with whoever was there. Nice try. Bogus.
@snooklefritzen There are many different types of seizures, more commonly noticed in dogs. It's actually quite rare for a cat to experience them at all, or have a medical issue that causes them. My kitten is showing these exact same signs here, though the vet found that she's not diabetic and it may be from a tumor or other neurological disorder.
@amm0714 I am truly sorry. I should not have called it bogus. I honestly had been told that seizures only happen when the brain is unconscious. I love animals and am glad you made me aware of this. I have a cat, too, and he is my heart.
I just posted a video tonight of the episodes my cat has been having for the last two years. Hers look like a milder version of this, and without the arm twitching (facial and head twitching only). My cat is overweight (but only eats a half cup of food daily, MEASURED!!). She's 13 years old. Can you please take a look at that video and let me know if you think it's the same thing? Thank you for posting this video!!!
Unfortunately, my cat was a stray. And he's so far down the road, there isn't any fixing it. He has peridontal disease, and is also beginning to have seizures just like him. Thanks for posting this video for my clarification x:
