@RetardedAnime Yeah, the hipster part for me comes from all the unwarranted sense of self importance, his sense of fashion, his obsession with irony, and the fact that he apparently goes out of his way to "listen to bands nobody's ever heard of", just to name a few reasons. But he's not a total stereotype, and he does have his moments of awesomeness, so I guess that balances it out in the end.

@Siflsenpai I tend to follow a series that I like in a state of full immersion, meaning that I often judge the characters as if they are cognizant personalities instead of simply part of the story. Sort of a childish thing to do, but fun. For example, I see a some of my personal struggles displayed in Karkat, so I sympathize with him. And I laugh when Dave or Vriska is an asshole and screws somebody over, but I still hate them on a personal level. It's complicated, and pretty stupid.

I "immerse myself", too, and each character becomes as real to me (in a way) as an actual person and I do piece them together with fragments of people I know, but they aren't based off anyone in particular and I thought you were saying that Dave and Vriska kind of morphed into "Jack and Mary that you know in real life and hate" rather than standalones with personalities that clash with yours. Whoops! XD
