Gotta love Mark Driscoll...but he has the parable backwards. Satan has set himself up as a strong man on this earth. He has deceived the nations and they are now under his control. He has set up armed guards and he his guarding his kingdom Jesus is the stronger than he who has come and overcome the devil, destroying his armies. The victors gather together after a battle and the defeated are scattered. but this is still a good video
@KDice11 You are right. The church should be on the offense, not defense; and that is the way Jesus tells it. Paul's spiritual armor passage talks about both I think.
We do have a choice. God just already knows what our choice is, but we still have the choice. He sees time all at the same time; the past, the present & the future. That's how he already knows. That doesn't mean we don't have a choice, though!
@Savedbygrace70 is the first sign that you are elect. By the power of the Holy Spirit and by God's grace, you can respond to these teachings and hear the Word of God preached and it changes you and causes you to be reborn and persevere in obedience to the Word until the day you die - this is the surest sign that you are among the elect (saved) which is by the fruit that you bear. But to decide that you want to follow Jesus means that you were elected by God since before the beginning of time.
@Savedbygrace70 I know you won't reply but I still needed to respond to explain why Mark Driscoll and John Piper and John MacArthur and Paul Washer and Paul the Apostle and all true men of God say what seems to be contradicting to you. The very act of "choosing" Jesus is a SIGN that you are elect of God. If you don't choose Jesus than you are not elect and will not be saved and the gospel will seem foolish to you. One does have to make a choice to follow Jesus but to even consider that choice
