Not all SS were "evil" the 5th SS was never found guilty of any war crimes... some men did them, others walked away from them. Canadian and Americans murdered prisoners and such aswel. Americans were told NOT to take SS prisoners... guess what happened the prisoners... night night. murders went both ways.

@11thSSNordlandPzG 'Ordinary' Waffen-SS and Wehrmacht units also got involved in mass-killings (such as the Babi-Jar murderers). If you want i can name you some literature about these crimes. Although some people in my family were with the Dutch Waffen-SS is still think they did not get punished enough after the war.

@11thSSNordlandPzG Of course they were Nazi's, they volunteered for the Waffen SS. I know that their main concern was Communism. I've read a lot of letters from Dutch Waffen SS soldiers from that time (I often go to archives), and you can clearly see they were convinced Nazi's, talking about 'untermenschen', German blood and their defence against the 'Asiatic hordes' etc. I'm a 100% sure that all of them were Nazi's, so fuck them.

Just like the Waffen SS where Nazi´s, because they VOLUNTEERED! And I know there were Indians and the like in the Waffen SS. But were there also JEWS in the Waffen-SS? You would know that Nazi ideology asked, for instance, French (non-Germanic) people in the Waffen-SS only when things started to get tough.

@TheExcevator and a written order from the HQ of the 328th US Army Infantry Regiment, dated December 21, 1944: "No SS troops or paratroopers will be taken prisoner but will be shot on sight." which is against the Geneva Convention so thats a "WAR CRIME". and the "Malmedy Massacare" didnt happen as people say... U.S. troops were panicing and runned and charged them and were shot in self defence NOT murdered. and i call it the"Malmedy Misunderstanding"..not massacar

Excellent that "a little part of History" hasn't been lost. With the Internet at your fingetips, its hard to imagine going back to a world with information spreading so slowly (Try and imagine 1 newspaper a day, Radio Broadcasts, etc) Do people really think the people that joined were all bloodthirsty murdering anti-semites?

Imagine yourself in the 30s and 40s and ask yourself, if I was somewhere in Europe or Germany during that time, could I have been swept up the same tide?

3:03 hes wrong the tunic is not "engineers" the shoulder boards that are black are for "Pioniers".......but overall nice tunics!!!!!!.......i like how on the M36 tunic it had a beVo sleeve eagle with a RzM stlye cuff title......it goes to show people that the germans were very good "recyclers" in tunics....what ever they had to issue you is what you got....very nice tunics!!!!!!..at least they are at the right place that they will be appreciated and not thrown around in someones attic.

A SS officer from Finland? I higly doubt that is possible... With the war in lapland and so on. Norway.. maybe, but although Finland and Germany had a common enemy, they were in no meens fighting for the same cause. The first finnish jägares were trained in Germany, but that's about it.

@ZeroG84 There were Finnish officers in the Waffen SS, many of them returned to Finland during Finlands peace treaty with the USSR, and a small amount remained in the Waffen SS. Larry Alan Thorne who served in the Finnish army left Finland after the cease fire with the USSR and continued in service as a Untersturmfuhrer in the Waffen SS until the end of ww2, then came to America and joined U.S. special forces and served in and was killed during the vietnam war.

the SS wasent only for the Germans, over 2000 Norwagians joined the SS.

420000 out of 917000 waffen Ss members were not german, actually the number of norvegians would be aroung 5500. However the made out a very small group, about 70000 latavians joined and it was the biggest group by far
