dear spike- you missed a key factor, that most of the homeless in our society suffer from mental illness and are homeless because they are off medications and cannot function to work. Most cannot afford medications because something called the FDA makes BAZILLIONS of dollars a year on medications that they then make a HUGE profit off of them. These prescriptions cost them a few pennies, and they charge hundreds of dollars.

Many homeless people have undiagnosed mental illnesses and can be dangerous to themselves or others especially when they believe they are being patronized. It is much more beneficial and safe to help thru structured volunteer clinics like soup kitchens than it is to find someone on the street....Stay safe
