I can't believe I'm only learning about The Field Mice now! Completely passed me by in the 80s. I feel I should take to the streets shouting why did no one tell me about this band! Why wasn't I told?? Are they a well kept secret or was I just not paying attention. Every track is a treat :)
Somehow missed this song/band back in the day. Thanks God for YouTube!
The intro reminds me a bit of "Destroy the Heart" by "The House of Love", but, then, the song takes off in a totally different direction. The part of the song past the 2:00 mark is pure gold.
@ConfusingClarity You are right. House of Love. I went through an enormous nostalgia and tragic feel for all this, for a recent 4 or 5 years. Now I am numb. Horrid feeling. Dead in the legs. Terrible.
at the time I thought I was into all the cool stuff, Ride, MBV, Jesus & Mary Chain, Stone Roses, Mozza, but looking back I realise I barely scratched the surface of getting into great music 20-odd years ago.
The title is ironic of course. This song - sonically - is about as Sensitive as a block of sandpaper! Love the relentless guitar play out at the end.... another Field Mice classic!
I'm agree with you, there isn't a beat,a song,a sound since this track only THE FIELD MICE,always in the times and in our heart,LIVELY BRITISH ROOTS AND BRITISH SOUND THAT WE SHARE ON THE WORLD!
Damn. My best friend was being awefully trendy and said he liked this band. I was all ready to say how rubbish they were. But there not are they. They're like the best band ever...damn...
but people don't take time to listen to the melancolic lead guitar behing the wall of sound : they are just lost.... they have to sit by a Starbucks window, open a book on "How to succeed...", check a 100 times their mails (AM I POPULAR ?)...
In the early early 90's --- Field Mice time ---, things were going wrong, but were still human.
I'm agree with you, there isn't a beat,a song,a sound since this track only THE FIELD MICE,always in the times and in our heart,LIVELY BRITISH ROOTS AND BRITISH SOUND THAT WE SHARE ON THE WORLD!
Well... now that you have what do you think of the song? ;-D
Besides being on their "Coastal" CD you can also find their music on the "Air Balloon Road" compilation CD's. I have volumes 1 and 2 and I am not sure if there were any more.
Another great song by them is "If You Need Someone" but it cannot ever compare to this explosive song!
IMHO "Sensitive" is in my TOP 10 songs ever made!
Thanks for uploading this song as it's excellent and brings back some good memories ;-D
Back in 1989 I would drive 150 miles to the "Vinyl Solution" record store in Grand Rapids, Michigan with my good friend Mario. This is where I bought the Field Mice CD "Coastal". I still have it!
Even though I could have bought the CD closer to home the store was amazing and it was indeed fun times and fun drive the few times we went.
Alas... I have not seen Mario since he got married many years ago.

the breakdown in this song, around half-way, just rocks and represents how sad it is that good music died awhile ago in this new century.

Wo, wo, wo !
The Field Mice wouldn't like your "fucking" and your "shits".
Their power was in the music they play, NOT the look they had...
Imitate them if you appreciate them : find the right words instead of coating some dead vocabulary with ... shit.
