While in my bed, my black cat would do that to my hair at the base of my neck while purring and then nudge her nose underneath. But, just before that the ritual was to rub her forehead onto my forehead and then I'd let her kneed my hair. After that, she'd place her neck and chin onto my cheek to finalize it with sleepy time. She really loved me.
