ive downloaded steam, i downloaded the demo. the demo does not work at all. it asks me if i wih to use launch it normaly or with DirectX9, normally does nothing, and DirectX9 opens up the civ window for 1 second then disapears. so any help, the forums arent helping worth crap, and in the forums multiple users say the game has critical problems, and now im being discouraged from downloading the game. so please, if there is any help you can give wat so ever. it would be much apreciated :)

Barbarians are annoying. I think their tech level comes from the highest technology Civ's tech level minus a bit. This means that if you've got a Future Era civ, Barbarians can have destroyers. This makes them stay a threat. Basically my tip is that if it's even slightly practical, you should have guards around every city, Great People buildings, luxury resource and stratigic resource. Don't depend on the city's defensive abilities since quite frankly until you build walls at least they suck.

it probably woulda been better to fortify in the woods and keep the upgrade for the spearmen, then sent them with the settler. u couldn't of done anything with them healed anyway.

if you open borders (in later stages) does this mean the AI will come into your cities and check the strength of your army then decide whether to attack or not? thats what i read somewhere

@ApocDevTeam nah the ai doesnt need to. if u have no army or a too small one u will be targeted, no matter what u do. u can check their army strength compared to urs anytime in the demographic screen,too,

it's still annoying though, they always send tons of scouts around my terrority and stay there for a long time.

Hi there, great lps so far ;) . Here some tips :

1. in the beginning u can take 50 gold for open borders from pretty much everybody out there. (maybe less on quick speed)

2. u should work and sell those luxury resources for some money or to get the first golden age faster,although i d wait for ballistas to start the golden age.

If you expand to the forest spot above the hill to the north, you get gold, production and a bunch of food. You can then buy the fish tiles to get even more food and get a navy scout for further exploration, but wait with the marble till after you take London (you need at least 4-5 attackers for that), as it is highly exposed. Other than that, keep it up! ;)

Why you using heal instantly instead of promotions? Heal more useful in critical situations. It’s a very short-term bonus.

If you find an Ancient Ruin that upgrades a unit, and the unit that found it is a Scout, THEN they become an Archer with Scout movement. C:
