Well, compared to a 1200 hp self-propelled Krone, it's small. It's like when we 40 years ago had a 6 foot pto driven harvester, compared today to a 40 foot self-propelled Claas.
A rule of thumb that I use is that a JF is equal to a self propelled with twice as much power as the tractor pulling the JF. It is hard to compare in corn because you can't put a large corn head on a pull-type. There is not too much corn here so it is not really an issue for us. This configuration would more than compete with a 700hp self-propelled.
When I am thinking about JF. I am thinking about running it with an MF. 135 or something like that. That was there heyday here back 30 - 40 years ago ( they are produced here as you know ) back in those days when an 50 acre farm was an good size farm. I am grown up on - in an area with 10 - 20 acre was the norm. Things have changed.
Not on tractors theres not, the only advantage tracks give to tractors is to decrease ground pressure and add traction, there is very little HP variation. The only major drivetrain modification done to tracked tractors is that the transmission runs a little faster because the driver on the track is smaller than a normal tractor tire.
I have never ran a tracked tractor but ive herd they have the power because they dont have to turn near as much power to the ground dont really know whats the gear ratio on the cat 95e compared to a say a same horse power steiger tractor
Holy feck!!! I've seen it all now, a Challenger pulling a forager! I bet ya have to be careful turning on the headland though? Them Cats turn very quick and easy to snap PTO I imagine if your not careful. Nice Clip.
overkill? just sayin

A heavy Barley crop here is around 12 tons/ acre. That is a 25' swath being chopped there.

I was not referring to a corn head, but a wheat head, corn was not grown here in my time on a farm, and only wery little today.

Just so you know. Cat 95E's are only 410 Hp unless it has been tuned up.
