What is this? For and older fellow, your critique is very shallow. I'd think you'd have put more thought into this and would have come up with a better critique just by virtue of how long you've existed, but I guess not...
And are you atheists really that scared shitless of hell? Oh right, right -it doesn't exist. The motives for your atheism are so transparent.
And apologetics has nothing to do with apologizing... -_-
And how the hell does stuff like this get likes? It all ties back to hell.
@M3PanoS - I agree that this critique is not hard enough. I wanted to open discussion without being insulting but we learn by our mistakes. Greg has no intention of discussion! In future I will just mock with the others!!! ... just like you!
@Darwinsgift I really need to stop being an asshole, but having people talking this nonsense and gaining popularity and adherents is stupifying. Whatever, it's all an emotional game anyways; and upon death, that too will end.
nevertheless nice try but I believe you missed a huge portion of greg's Point. Its troubling that you review the video then create a strawman to dismiss a Point which actually has to do with the Christian worldview then strongly misrepresent the analogy by inventing a another one.... I'll have to ask the same question that Greg does. If God can not exist, then why bother?
A more accurate way to view the wife scenario is i think as follows.
The married man tells the bachelor he has a wife but the bachelor never sees her and nor does anyone else. The married man has plenty of stories and anecdotes about his life with his wife but again, no one ever sees her. So as far as everyone else is concerned, they are at best agnostic toward his wifes existence. When they finally meet her they become believers in her existence.
@imr22 - I don't really see it as that simple. The greater the claim the greater the evidence has to be. For example, he can make the claim and it has hardly any real significance, other than the fact he might be lying. Hitchens used the phrase "extra ordinary claims require extre ordinary evidence". You might be prepared to believe some things based on personal relationships as you have past experience with a person to accept things of no real or of a trivial nature. Not existence itself.
I agree but i was dealing with the argument being used as a rebuttal to the "atheists go one god further" idea. So for that reason i don't think the size of the claim matters just how he's using this simplistic argument as if it means anything.
The fact he thinks the arguments are similar is just idiotic.
If he had presented the entire Steven Roberts quote: "I contend that we are both atheists. I just believe in one fewer god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours," he'd have had the answer to why the quote matters.
So this bachelor says to his married neighbor (MN) - You're the same as me except you have just one MORE wife than I have… Then the MN says – Why does that make a difference?
Well, when invited to go fishing, the MN can’t because his wife is having friends over.
When invited to go skydiving, the MN can’t because his wife doesn’t approve.
The MN can’t watch the big game because his wife has her program.
So, the MN is cut off from many activities because he has -- just one more wife.
I'm not convinced Koukl is actually asking a question. The usual apologetic tactic is to speak a question, but not really expecting an answer (or not being prepared to consider any answer).
My answer to his question is simply: if you ask why believing in one less god is relevant, then ask why the atheist rejects all those other gods: the answer is evidence. The atheist does not believe that the theist has properly considered the evidence for his own god with the same rigor as "for " all others.

I'm sorry, this guy seems kind of THICK to me. Maybe it just comes with the territory.

3:34 he answers his own question there, but for some I fail to see why he didn't realize it at that point.

"False Gods": The one's a theist chooses not to believe in.
True Gods: The one they wish to believe in

3:44 if only he thinks about that and stops there. That is where I stop. There is NO evidence.
