For my money, I'll buy the Raider. I wouldn't do much to it for a while until I pay it off. So to me initial value of the bike is more important than what it can end up as in the end.
Im a big fan of the Raider, im American through and through, love Harley, always loved roadsters, would never consider a crotch rocket. But the Raider, sure its not American, but its the best by far, if it were a thing here or there id still go American just to have American but Raider is way more powerful, looks way better, and cheaper than its competitors, its the all around win in my oppinion.
i here the harley fans wispering in my ear how much they miss the power of the metrics. i have a roadstar with the 102in and like the quality and power.i have had my eye on the raider since it came out but think ill stay with my roadstar till they come out with more custom pieces for the raider.
The three of these bikes look good and each have good points and bad, but the Harley "rocker c" or any harley for that matter, will hold better re sale value and do so even in the long run. Just one example...look at the old shovel from the 70's, they are still up in the 15's and/or there abouts. I want a bike that if i sell, i will get most of my money back, and the harley does that.
Just not true anymore - I tried to sell my Springer and couldn't get close to 7K for it - so ...yeah - I kept it. NOTHING has value these days - too many used bikes on the market combined with the crappy economy - all the old rules are out the door
My 2008 VRSCDX night rod special will beat all these. Victory does not sell a motorcycle faster then the new 1250cc vrod. I delt with a victory dealer in so cal and they just said what ever i wanted to hear to get me to buy a victory. after all there hub bub about how much better there bikes were then HD.(price difference is not worth the resale drop). Read past reviews for 2008 power cruiser night rod still better bike all around, looks, power, resale, accessories,
Yamaha did have to cut corners to meet the price point. As a result you will find a lot of plastic on this bike including the headlight bucket which in my opinion is just wrong. The raider "is" a beautiful bike but once you really get up close to it you see that it's just an HD copy with plastic parts...
This review really helped me buy my last motorcycle, which of course was a raider. And awsome bike. And worth every penny. YOu have to love the heritage that you buy with a harley, but bike to bike, raider wins.
The Raider gets more compliments than the Harley. Harley riders are always asking me what or who makes my bike. They like the way it looks and feels. The price is a plus too. Harley asks so much more for their bikes in general because of the name. But you don't ride and feel names.
HD's may not be as powerful as some of the competition or worth all the money you have to shell out for them but they are solid bikes with components made of metal, not chromed plastic like I see on most metric bikes. A well cared for Harley can last for generations and can be rebuilt over and over again. The raider is like a disposable lighter. Looks good, works great but sooner or later it runs out of butane and you have to throw it away...
well of course is more powerful its 113 inch motor compared to a 96 inch and harley makes a very dependable bike so that is arguable along with the handling considering the raider is heavier and longer
