  • i am looking forward to the blackberry one should be interesting

  • So we are in September now where is it?

  • @4izm0v Actually it's October

  • you are lacking something alright uh huh

  • Some reckon this has been Slated- No pun intended. Adobe Flash and MS Silverlight are dead as HTML5 has an adequate video standard. Windows 7 might have been ditched for WebOS, which makes having an IntATOM unnecesary as it consumes to much juice. Also the market looks like it's going in the direction of GOOGLE based hardware. so it's all about google and APPLE.

  • This is due out in 'Fall' -WTF does that mean? Autumn?

  • @Nimbology02 fall as in, august, september, october, maybe november.

    I cant wait :)

  • i mean august.

  • its july.

  • this is so old

  • its august now and close to end of Q3, where is it?

  • @alantan79 HP, has switched gears and is leaning more toward using Googles Android OS. However, Hp has stated that they will let their users choose either between Windows or Android. Hp also has it on hold because a revamped iPad is rumored to be announced in September, so they kinda got things on hold for now.

  • @Dustin872006 think about it if they allowed flash, people could create programs and games and run it from the browser or other means and shut the itunes app store down.apple has to either allow or deny certain apps and games due to many reasons

  • @xbox381 yes Apple has allowed Flash development in the App store. This last year they ended that because of the security issues and developers were accessing API's that Apple didnt want accessed. HTML5 is capable of doing the samething within the browser itself without relying on a 3rd party APP and because HTML5 will be the language of the internet it will just work without any add ons.

  • TRASH!!!

  • Show me an atom based slate pc with a front facing camera which I can put my own OS on ... must be able to use a usb keyboard/mouse/bootable flash drive for setting up... and I'll be really happy... I really hope these vendors look to support Linux OS as well as Windows.

  • WEBCam on a tablet. Try using such a thing and you'll notice that this is a BAD idea. I have the new iPhone and find the only nice way to video conference is to hold the phone up in front of my face. try that with a tablet. Ask any photographer and she'll tell you that the worst way to photograph someone is from below him. "Check that B***** in his nose!" or "He has a triple chin!". This is why you see none at this time.

  • Well If this is a real HP then I must say their designers are so crappy that they copy the iPads design like this... The HP slate is probably a great product but I don't like the way they steal designs rather than making their own personal touch.... =)

  • @bockenrecords thats the point with the business take something that is popular and making it twice as better then the competitors its the way of the tech world

  • Its not cancelled, its delayed until 2011

  • it would suck if it's got a glossy makeover

  • all you retards saying- "oh no! its dead!" STFU.

What is so hard to understand? The HP Slate itself is NOT cancelled, the windows 7 OS for it is; NOT the hardware, the SOFTWARE. Yea, Palm and HP are working together for the operating system for the slate. you retards just misread a blog on google. And if you still say "its cancelled"- go back to worshiping your Steve jobs Cult. The Slate will free all you mindless sheep who throw ur money at steve jobs cause he tells u to.

  • @kflores6 hp slate is still going to feature a win7 version, it's just also going to release another version with Web OS

  • BAM!

    ITS CANCELLED!

  • to bad its been shelved because hp bought out palm and wants to put the palm OS on it

  • This is dead.

  • It's got two webcams one in front one in the back, otherwise nice vid. I'm going with the HP Slate anyways. The ipad is basicly in my version an oversised ipod toutch haha. Thanks and nice vid.

  • @kilerkade96 well guess what..... It got cancelled!

  • well, I just got an iPad, actually won it at BidsWOW.com for $69+ shipping and arrived and now I can honestly say I can hardly wait for the HP Slate. The iPad is beautiful and love it, but it lacks almost everything a business professional needs I hope HP omes out with the Slate soon. I'll buy it right away. bidswow sent my ipad through Amazon.com and arrived in about two weeks though. Pretty nice.

  • @ifind2com slate got cancelled

  • @refresh967 they un cancel it are goin run webOS on it the palm OS

  • @TheHiya321 i kno

  • 2:46

  • it has 2 web cams 1 is in the front

  • Err, yeah, right. Come back when a credible competitor is actually SHIPPING PRODUCT.

  • listen to this guy thinks he knows about technology,,,, but really he still has a pentium 4 dell desktop in the back Hey MR time to upgrade

  • @eltracalasmex maby does he have a dubbel octocore 3,33 ghz procecor down stairs.

  • THis video was made back in March people, the Slate has been shelved! It "may" be released at some point in the future, but June 2010? That's been absolutely crushed. Not going to happen.

  • @rancwr Ur right Lol

  • Flash slows down your CPU, the slate has a laggy touch screen, try the HP touchsmart it is slow to register your touch and you get frustrated because sometimes the computer thinks you touched something else. HTML5 is the way of the future, i hate going to websites and regardless of you having a fast computer, the website is slow to boot up because of all of the flash advertisements that boot up, it makes the web trashy, HTML5 for the win

  • nigger!

  • @runegamer002

    wth?

  • What's coming soon? The hp slate was killed by hp last month. You people should

read up on some things before yapping. It doesn't compare to the ipad cause it doesn't exist. You can't run a full computer os on one of these things. If they did this with with win 7 it wouldve ran like shit. I'm betting that with the purchase of palm hp will make a web os based tablet. By that time apple will be far ahead of the pack. Just as they are in smartphones.

  • @rushrules1968

Yeah, yeah. What a typical response from an apple drone. And yes it could be compared to Ipad, just like any tablets out there that have more to offer than your puny toy which failed to deliver in this day and age. Ipad would have been a neat product back in 2003 and just like disgruntled consumer say; IT'S JUST AN OVERSIZED IPHONE...and does not support flash w/c makes 75% of web contents. Sad.

  • You know how this beats the iPAd and it's 10,000 apps. IT'S AN ACTUALL COMPUTER! It can do everything!!!!!!!! Why anyone would hype up a so called "table computer" only to leave out multi-tasking capabilities and Flash? Two things that are basic essentials for anything to qualify as a computer.

  • @ThePVAGlue You COULD be right on Flash, but multi-tasking is in iPhone OS 4.0 and therefore on iPad. And things like youtube are likely to be running entirely on HTML5 one day, not Flash, thats not to say that Flash's purpose will diminish. But i was planning on buying an iPad but the HP slate is not far from stealing the show for me. I would really love it if HP used a modified for mobile use Win7 that can still run Microsoft Office fully. Then the HP slate would be in the bag.

  • the ipad is only useless to people that dont have one and dont have the funds to get it. How does it have no features? The hp slate has no features either! Oh wait there is no hp slate.

  • @rushrules1968

    its coming soon lol

  • Hp dropped the slate last month. They'll probably remake it with web os. Windows 7 slate was a dumb idea to begin with it would have ran like shit

  • @rushrules1968 LOL yeah right look at Ipad a piece of shit which has no features at all. What are all these dumb mac fag wasting there money on some useless crap. idiots

  • Ha ha looks like a big fat digital frame

They tried to copy the ipad but they will never get over 10,000 apps

  • @redjohn2008

If they had stayed with Win7, it would have already had far more than 10,000 apps.

  • @redjohn2008 exactly they will never get apps because apps are for phones, instead they will have software for business and real work. this is why this is a computer not a "big phone with cool fun applications"

  • I thought it had 2 cameras?

  • "duhhh, it has a webcam, but you can't really use it as a webcam because it's on the back..." How did you even manage to say that without drooling?

  • HP just copied the ipad and added flash and a shitty camera also it costs more....also the ipad is not a giant ipod so how about u use one before u judge it .....SLate was made to be a crappy computer...ipad is more entertainment and haveing a good experience....no im not excited for this horrrible device.

  • ipad is so cool, i love it

  • HP slate is going to cell for USD$529.99

and they made changes, it will have a front webcam.

but, it's more expensive then the iPad, but

    you know the old saying

"you get what you pay for"

  • @Rcrby525 Actually.. imo its shitter than the iPad now for one reason...

    its Running WebOS.

  • i heard they dropped the slate

  • The iPad Is Way Better The HP Slate is just a copy of the iPad windows from the start have just being copying mac

  • Tsk Tsk Tsk Silly. You guys will never be satisfied in what you got, just want more and more.

  • LOL, Specs.. Specs..Specs, for decades people talked about Apple specs on all of their devices. And now look they are still out there in businesses and homes and no one expected that. Apple user interface is the true life to the hardware. Apple's hardware and software make a marriage that work best together regardless of specs. With my job I work with Mac's for graphics and videos, I can tell you that specs are not the key thing about Apple products.

  • You guys can stop speculating, the Slate Project has been ended due to the high energy usage of windows 7 and the speed of it. There might be a next attempt on a slate from HP but it won't have windows 7.

read it for yourself on CNET

  • NOT! Dead before arrival.

  • To all of you drooling over how much better the slate will be than the iPad! hp has shelved it indefinitely!!!!! They are in the process of acquiring Palm so when or if the slate comes to market it will not run win7 but palm OS instead! LOL! way to copy apple even more HP. Obviously if the slate was so great they'd be driving on with getting it to market...they are not! FAIL HP!!!

  • @zzoot trust me windows 7 will be on there they will get paid alot more than the palm os

  • does it has usb ports?

  • @digitalrbn Yes. And Flash-card support (Compact Flash and/or micro-SD.

  • its nice to see apples ass kicked for once

  • Well I look forward to the Slate. the iPad has a better battery life cause it's running the iPhone OS, where the Slate will run Win 7. I still haven't found a reason to buy the iPad. I can do more with my iPhone.

  • the HP Slate looked really cool, but after reviewing it further it runs a weak processor and runs Windows 7 which is fine but its just a netbook without a keyboard... i see it bogging down really fast

  • @Dustin872006 yeah u are kinda right,a netbook without a keyboard..

  • The iPad will crush the slate in sales I guarantee it. hell the slate already has an assload of catching up to do. everyone comments about the ipad being anemic. Thats what the app store is for! as for the slate and photshop, etc etc. Have fun writing reports and spreadsheets on that shitty tiny laggy keyboard. Have fun using photoshop too! yikes!

  • A step in the right direction... The fact that it will have the functionality of a Netbook (A Real OS) means I am actually interested in this technology. Those Kiddie Ipod apps are cool for the teenage crowd, but wouldn't come close to meeting my needs.

  • im commenting on my hp slate!!! hahaha yours truly the youtube vigilante!!!!!!

  • The HP Slate has been reported to feature a 3 megapixel camera on its back panel and a VGA resolution web cam on the front panel - Sorry.

Ipad = fail = for suckers

  • It has 2 cameras!!

  • Hey this thing has the REAL internet! What does the iPad have? Fascist control inside!

  • wtf why isnt there a cam in the front??

  • @CJFilmz There is a camera in the front.

  • @SheldonCary and other at the back to take vids and still pictures.

  • what camera are you using? Excellent resolution

  • i'm a huge fan of Apple but the HP Slate is waaaaay better than the iPad!

  • @Jennyfc so exactly how many times have you used the HP slate?

  • @rehoboth21 Like 47 times, man give it a rest im talking about the technical stuff. HP Slate has real OS, you can even install Photoshop or whatever... USB ports, camera...

  • @Jennyfc Have fun running photoshop on it. the iphone os is a real os optimized for touch screens and the apps are all optimized for touch. I'd rather have a stable os built for its intended use rather than have a usb port on something I'm always going to be using on the go.

  • Have fun running Photoshop on the ipad too.

  • @cjinaustin Never said i was going to run photoshop on my iPad. I know I can't run photoshop on my ipad, but thinking you will be able to run it on the slate is funny.

  • @Jennyfc able to do more stuff, yeah, and able to attach a mic headset with the USB ports.

  • @Jennyfc Wow! But everyone I know has that darn iPad! How did Steve do this and get his stuff out early!

HP should have dropped this way before the IpHone! I am video conferencing on it now. Why would I need the HP??? I am so upset with HP... All my students love the iPad and don't want anything else.

  • With all of these tablets coming out more car accidents are sure to come. Everyone walking with an iPad or a Slate in their hands. BTW im buying the Slate. Flash FTW

  • This video is a bit dated, but I have read that the HP slate has 2 cameras, one in the front(webcam) and a 3 mega pixel camera on the back for pictures.

  • I love my HP PC so I might buy this.

  • hp is to cheap, i dont trust them

  • @awoodson08 Then u r stupid..inexpensive and works dats no brainer.

  • so handsome

  • The iPad and Slate should not be compared.

The iPad is a cellphone with a huge screen. Inside its cellphone components running a cellphone operating system with cellphone apps and cellphone mini-games. Its a closed wall mini-garden with limited functionality.

The Slate is a small computer, specifically its higher performance netbook components minus the keyboard and hinge with a full fledged operating system. Its an open wall playground where the sky is the limit.

  • @DumbDuck44 you are right... but even tho the ipad is a huge iphone you cant make calls with it....lol

  • @zeretmusicent Or shoot video and a few other things. Which is my problem with the iPad is that its the size of a device like the Slate, yet it does even less than a device by the same company that fits in your jeans pocket. And considering they sell for over $800 for the 64gig version, it really makes no sense to get one over the iPhone, and use a netbook or HP Slate as a small computer.

  • @DumbDuck44 yes yes.....and their excuse to not support flash is crazy....the customer should be able to turn that feature on if they want to. the ipad is a pretty device and thats all...its nothing that can replace a laptop , netbook or an iphone...hell windows mobile devices are more convenient than the ipad (especially with the SKYFIRE browser, the only mobile browser that supports flash content without an app)

  • but wait till 2011-2012 apple will surely make a touch tablet that fully operates a mac osx, camera and webcam and along with the ability to support flash! And 3G.

  • @MrTapApp Yeah, they release the one that has crap, everyone buys it, then they release a better one that EVERYONE's going to get. Apple's just looking for more ways to make money. HP has been doing this for years. They have the best tablet PC's and have been on top of the game for a while now. This is nothing but a tablet PC really, just in more portable form. And how do you consider not even allowing Flash?

  • @MrTapApp 2012 is end of earth nub,we cant wait, the end is soon!

  • were looking at the best computer multi touch screen tablet anyway ipad is a big iPhone piece of shit

  • @henik your right plus this does everything a laptop or pc does apart from disc games except it's much easier more portable and fun to use I am gonna buy this on the date it comes out!!!

  • Haich Pee?

    lol @ euro people :P

    it's aich not haich :P

Rear mounted cam is fail. They could have designed a mechanism to rotate the camera like they did on the dell XPS laptops.

HP slate will be x86 \ windows 7 so there's already tons of software.

It's kind of gay though that HP didn't come out with something for the ipad launch -- they don't even have a competing product right now...june!? That's months away.

  • @gusieboy Does it really fail? Last time I checked HP Slate does everything the iPad can't. Which includes something simple as Flash.

Like everyone said. Its a giant iPod Touch. No more... no less.

Everyone makes a big deal about Apple products. When the iPod Touch is the same as the iPhone and the iPad is the same as the iPod Touch. They're all the same.

  • @YuukiJuudai23 i totally agree with you...i think most people who love apple mobile products have been brainwashed and will follow and buy anthing apple throws at them ....even if its a just a remix of sorts on their past products..it seems to me its all about the money and getting the loyal apple customers to keep handing over their dollars to them

  • @zeretmusicent Yeah thank God u can see thru the deceptions and Steve Jobs.

  • @gusieboy FYI: Apple didn't make the first tablet. It's been around for years. The Slate has been in development for 5 years, it could have been released 2 years ago, but due to requirements it would cost $1,500. With processes, dropping in price, it will cost about $550.

And from the demo vids out, there will be TWO cams, one in front, and one in back.

  • @PetronPendrake REally? that HP slate was supposed to cost 1.5k and they shrunk it off its functionalities to justify the price for customers? ok.

  • @Tommydudez Who said they shrunk off it's functionalities? Technology moves forward. Things get smaller, and what was once a very expensive processor, is now now only cheap, but runs of much less voltage and gives off much less heat. Hence the explosion of netbooks in the past year or so. 5 years ago the PC I built would of cost $15,000. Now it costs $2,000.

  • @gusieboy That's why they've been doing this longer? That's why they've been making tablet PC's since like 05 or 06? The iTouch is just a small version of a tablet computer. Looks like Apple actually copied HP. Nice logic.

  • bye bye junk ipad this HP Slate blows it away easily

  • the hp slate has a front facing webcam

  • How are they useless? Tablets bridge the gap between smartphones and laptops. You can't use a laptop while your're walking.

  • @henik9 I wanna see someone hold the slate and type while they are walking!! are you kidding me?

  • time to see a tablet pc wars

    apple ipad vs hp islate

    FIGHT !

  • i think we are trying to rush to the future

we gotta wait for these pads and tablets and slates to get much powerful

  • Wow, Apple does it then everyone starts making useless devices.

  • @dragonballjiujitsu you idiot they where in production at the same time and how is this useless when it runs full windows 7 and the piece of shit ipad runs a gay iphone os without even flash support?

  • @McbreakRsfanboy

If you would bother to look at my vids you would see that I dislike the ipad. But you did not and end up looking like a jackass.

  • @dragonballjiujitsu your the one who looks like a jackass for expecting me to look at your videos why the hell would i bother just to post a comment?

  • @McbreakRsfanboy flash is crap

  • @dragonballjiujitsu Competition is good for consumers.

  • I think that the iPad is the worst idea ever. Mac should have waited till the could put a full operating system in it with a decent battery.

  • I agree. The iPad is the worst thing I have seen come from apple.

  • @dragonballjiujitsu Yet millions of people will buy them. Sigh.

  • @dragonballjiujitsu still looks good

  • @karchun100

    Agreed!

  • @dragonballjiujitsu but ipad got so cool apps

can hp slate watch flash videos??

  • @pulla231 ya it can

  • All tablet PC have failed in the past. This is essentially a touch screen netbook! What makes you think this will succeed? Demanding software on underpowered hardware with mediocre touch screen technology in Win7? No thanks. iPad 32GB + case just ordered

  • @Jferrari427 exactly!! great point from someone who GETS IT!!!

  • im not going to get a tablet for another year so that i can know which one is truly the best.

something completely random though: the ipad wouldn't be that bad if you could use internet tethering if you had an iphone, that would actually be really cool.

  • Comment removed

  • I would not classify the ipad as a tablet. It's just a large iPod touch.

  • but what is the ipod touch ? its a tablet device ? but what is a tablet device ? the definitions of these products in 2010 is so rough, its hard to actually talk about them, better to define what YOU think is the norm then give your explanation around your ideas,

  • @southpointchrysler and the slate is just an underpowered netbook with shitty batt life and an terrible touch interface

  • iPad is the best tablet-like device

    1. Never need to shut or boot it. month of standby

    2. iPhone OS = graceful touch experience/apps galore

    3. All wireless options

    4. Ultra-thin lightweight

    5. diverse array of uses for many different types of people

  • @michaelovesrh and the slate doesnt have any of this? oh wait you dont know yet because its not out.

  • @rscott006 well since the specs are out... the standby time is shit so youll have to shut it down and boot it up again to save battery....and its not ultra-thin

  • C'mon! You honestly believe that the Windows 7 Tablets will be good? You are running a full computer operating system on a tablet - A tablet's pathetic processor cannot handle that, and it shouldn't handle that. Tablets are made for web browsing, listening to music, and other small application - The iPad excels in all of that. I do not understand why you believe that running Windows 7 on a tablet is a great idea when it will be slow doing the things it is supposed to do!

  • The iPad has no alternative, right now. The difference between iPad and any Tablet PC is that iPad is running hardware is perform well for it's OS and Applications, and this slate is running Win7 on an Intel Atom. The Intel Atom is a failure of a processor for a full OS

  • All tablet PC have failed in the past. This is essentially a touch screen netbook! What makes you think this will succeed? Demanding software on underpowered hardware with mediocre touch screen technology in Win7? No thanks. iPad 32GB + case just ordered.

  • Right on, brother. I said and did the same thing, cept I got the 3G version.

  • some of these iPads where stolen in china in January...they caught them in customs... some people in asia who work in customs actually have the ipad from keeping a few after the catch and reporting it..NO LIE

  • they don't get it!why would i need to take pictures with a slate or an ipad or any netbook like thing?u only need the camera for video conferencing and if u wanna show something to someone just turn tha stupid thing!the webcam is going to be crappy anyways so why would u want to take pictures with it?

  • If anyone really wants to make a good tablet, it should be full featured and based on android, modified enough to give good work environment and no so much that it starts working like a PC.

That will be the best combination, till then I'll go with iPad.

  • ok...... the tablets look really bad.. its like vista in a really small screen. and with a stylus... i was at the ces .. and itwasnt that great.. trust me..

  • Where did you get December from for the courier. As far as I have seen the courier is just a concept and its highly likely we will never see it as an actual product.

  • something people dont think about with apple is they are a careful company. they only really make a move they know will work out and they test the waters and dont just jump in. im sure after some inplay testing with the ipad as is the OS will change, but why bother making a full touch OSX when you dont know how the product will fair just yet?! just like the ipod changed after testing and use. its much better now. people judge too much so early and then look stupid later when the real thing hits

  • I'm not interested in any mobile devices once so ever. I'm in it for major power desktop computers with the latest superior GPUs and CPUs.

  • I'm about as interested in the HP Slate PC as I am the iPad....not at all.

  • why is dave erasing my comments?

  • @johnmonk66

aha, new weird youtube comment options were to blame

  • i'm not excited about the ipad very much. I always wanted a tablet pc like the hp tablet that would have a real f*cking OS, and flash support. Also i'm interested in the msi harmony android tablet that they showed at CES

  • Enjoy running your desktop apps on your desktop OS on mobile phone hardware with mobile phone battery life then. There's a reason all tablet PC's have failed so far and part of that reason is the hardware is NOT up to the task. Why the hell would you want something that's technically capable of running your expensive desktop apps then crippling them due to lack of power? Why yould you waste a licence on that device? People seem to want to do some rediculous things on such a low power device.

  • Nice video Dave! You're making me think things over! 5 stars.

    peace,

    Tim

  • first of all...... ALL of these slates are not going to be used for serious work. They are for convenience and ease of use etc.

People can hate on the iPad or anything other slates but in my opinion, the iP[ad will be the most succesful, fact! the HP Slate will be crap, its windows and HP are not very good i dont think. After say 6 months i can promise you that HP slate will have problems etc that the ipad wont be having. also front facing camera is pointless, no1 uses them.

  • HP slate is a netbook with a touchscreen and no keyboard.

    Sorry but...

    F**K THAT!

  • everyone is bitching the ipad doesn't have a camera, the HP has one and you bitch it isn't a webcam. The slate is NOT in competition with the ipad, the ipad is a mp4 player, the slate is a computer. The slate is something apple can't make or compete with.

  • @johnmonk66 wrong! the slate is something apple doesn't want to compete with. It will be crap, just anohter underpowered shitty netbook with a tiny laggy UI
