In my expierience bikers are some of the most erratic road users, Speeding, weaving between lanes, under taking. Im not saying all bikers are at fault but if drivers are urged to think bike perhaps bikers should be encouraged to think car.

I blame the chicane that the local council clowns put their in the 1st place, its making a normal road highly dangerous. Why do local councils stick narrow chicanes on an otherwise perfectly straight wide road. It causes nothing but traffic flow blockages, aggro, accidents and driver error. Britains highways and road safety pen-pushers need to wake up.

The council has done that round my area, 'traffic calming measures' by simply blocking the road on 1 side and forcing a HEAD TO HEAD... I used to do that with my scalextrix set, but doing it with real traffic is just stupid. Can it really be safer than having 2 SIDES ON THE ROAD so they dont have to meet face on???

Its a stupid "traffic calming" measure. The councils of the UK use them because they are cheap instead of putting in proper lights, pedestrian crossings or managing the traffic effectively.

They are called Chicanes (153 in the highway code) and simply encourage impatience and angst imo.
