As a youngling I still have heard of this tv show (who never heard of the Village, the "I am not a number!" and of those white bubbles...) but I never actually watch it
If I find it somewhere on the internet in streaming I sure will
Depends on where you put the punctuation. It could just as well be "You - Are Number 6." ignoring the question that preceeded it, and thats the way it's actaully spoken (The significant pause being after You, not Are.)
@gil72ful How sad that you are correct! Any potential remake would be more about the gadgets, gunfire, actors & actresses bodies and looks and some type of amorphous "global good" than the fight for freedom. This series can NEVER be remade! Let all Hollywood producers hear that! (that's an open challenge to J.J. Abrams! ;)
Hollywood can't help but change a brilliant work for the worst... They were likely thinking of playing a waiting game with McGoohan to see how much money he would hold out for. I think a future McGoohan project may still be possible, considering Pat's ability and instinct for detail, probably administered by the family, and to be executed by a young, hungry, gifted film student.
Brilliant! Patrick McGoohan refused to have anything to do with the silly American remake, as he had already done it. I applaud his refusal as the remakes or re-introductions tend to be a far cry from the original.
christopher: too bad, McGoohan could have influenced the director to keep the story real; instead who knows what monstrosity will come out of the industry too well known for Jerry Bruckheimer mindless stupidity.
So is the state number 1 ? hey big brother.

I didn't hear a significant pause. But, it doesn't really matter. The people who knew are dead anyway.

Or....are they? They might have been taken away to The Village...

Made at a time when Freedom was in fashion to be fought for!
As timeless as it it is - of it's time.
One hopes Pat has now found hie freedom - R.I.P.

But the debate still remains: Was Number Six John Drake or not? The universe may never know.
