  • You Contribute to Beaver Bunch? Then You BETTER Advise your childish followers like: @ohmaryjane, that it's NOT smart to harass people she doesn't know online with bullshit. Here is an example of @ohmaryjanes stupidity:

"@RachelsOne, Inbox me Rachel. I know you mastabate to Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez, Rose Rollins, Jessica Clark, lolololol. While posting brunettes with white features on your blogs. Are you tired Rachel? I am not, lolololol."

U better tell that Delusional bitch to BACK Off.

  • or maybe, at the other extreme, this sense of betrayal kade and some of the comments have mentioned may come from a perceived trading by the trans individual instead of remaining with their sex, thereby expanding the definition of that sex/gender. particularly in cases where a ftm is exclusively attracted to women/mtf exclusively to men...

again, just my thoughts. none of us can really get into any ONE else's head, let alone all, and as you've all said, each of us is unique.

  • ok. sorry if anyone's said this and i missed it with all the comments from the 6 videos from the week, or if the subject came up again, since i'm sort of backtracking. but hey beavs! great, informative (not so much fun{ny} this week) stuff.

anyway, kinda combining things said elsewhere regarding the lack of communal support question. fyi, i'm a straight, male identified …male, but i try to be as informed, open-minded and non-skeevy an ally as pos.

  • that being said, Michelle and her mom have both talked about adjusting parts of one's vision of others to come to terms with them coming out. some people though, (including me at times) trade one definition/vision for a different one, rather than expanding or finding a balance. i think some of the problem here, may be the same problem some people in the straight, or gay/les community still have with bi/pan/queer people...

  • Thid a great vid...as I identify as a gay transman.

  • Kade! This answers so many questions I've had about gender (I hope that doesn't sound weird lol)! Thank you.

  • Kade, thanks for the vid,,,question.....have you had all the surgery done needed for a complete deal (for lack of a better term)/???? Good luck to you in everything you do. This has been an education.

  • you look good in a hat. ur sexy with or whitout a hat though : )

  • i'm so jealous that FtM is seeming easier than what i wanna go though. T_T yer such a cute guy! ^^

  • @MaryStewart It really isn't your confusing the skinniness, if your skinny it seems easier... I'm very confused and trying to experiment... and it's not easy or not easier then for a MtF, that's a preconception... plus society always had stricter rules/ expectations of the women then the man.

  • I think Im in love

  • YOUR AMAZING!! XDD

  • Wow, I was really enlightened. Makes a great end to a great day for me. ^.^

  • Kade you are such a great addition to the beaverbunch! You are so intelligent and a true inspiration!

  • That was very informative. Thanks for shedding more light on this subject.

  • very well said

  • I just got done doing a huge performance piece regarding Joan of Arc and when it all came down to it, she was burned because she wore pants. It was a very moving experience because of the underlying context and how it relates to current androgenous issues. Great blog...thank you.

  • so, i kinda love you

i love how you said this

    this was epic amazing <3

  • Wow. You just answered questions that I've had for a while. All that lingo, I live in a big city but I guess I tend to roll with the same crowd and have never been introduced to this lifestyle. Thank-you. You rock.

  • DFTBA

  • omg my last name is clark too go us :)

  • :) hells yeah.

  • haha i saw the video thumbnail and totally thought you were jess until i hit play..

  • so did i

  • haha. sorry!

  • 1 percent and growing! As we educate and grow in our understanding, more people that desperately want and need to transition, will be able to count on their allies for acceptance and support. Fantastic video, Kade. Looking forward to part two...

  • agreed. can't wait til that day comes. :)

  • great video! keep it up man.

  • thanks! :)

  • Nice job... I often times forget that not everyone knows the queer lingo or the gender appropriate terms, so I'll go off in explaination and it isn't until I see the blank expressions that I realize I need to slow down and back it up.

I watched Jess's as well and I agree, she did a fine job. I always get nervous when people decide to talk about gender because entirely too many folks are unaware and then they start gabbing and it's all wrong and eeek. But yea, kudos.

  • hahaha. agreed. hopefully it helps some future conversations. rome wasn't built in a day, you know?

  • When will we get to a time when all this just doesn't matter? Every human, regardless of how they or society classify them, should have the same basic rights period! And love doesn't follow rules anyway.

  • you, my friend, are ahead of the curve.

  • Congrats on your surgery. It looks painful, I hope you're doing well! What a thorough explanation. I learned a lot. Thank you for taking the time to walk us through this. I can't wait to hear your opinions/ answers to the questions. :D

  • the drugs help. :p

thanks for being patient and open to watching.

  • Ah, pain meds are the best! I think we all need to be more supportive of the trans community. We all need each other and each other's understanding. Thanks for being patient with all of us! :D

  • you said nomenclature. you are awesome.

  • hahahaha. yes, i did.

i'll take sat words for six hundred, please.

  • Well done Kade! Fuck an HRC.

  • hey thanks. yeah, one step at a time. haha.

  • Congrats on your surgery!! Thanks for your patient and thorough explanation of this topic. You're amazing! :-)

  • well thanks for watching. :) the whole patience thing is a learned trait. its worth it.

  • thanks for this video kade

  • thanks for watching!

  • nice to see you surgery photos. you look great.

i love when you talk about being transgendered. you explain it really well

  • well thank you.

  • sweet hat kade :)

and i agree...it's hard to accept things you're unclear about...or things you're unwilling to try to comprehend

  • its cool that you get what i'm saying.

sometimes i feel like im talking in circles. :p

  • i so would date a gay and a trans. lol. jk jk. but seriously.nice vid.u defiantly shed some light on the issue of separation of gender and sexuality and i look forward to part 2. :)

  • heh. as long as there's light, we're good to go.

    thanks for watching. :)

  • I could listen/watch you talk all day long. I'm so glad they picked Kade. :) Soo cute.

  • :p thank you. you're too sweet.

  • Wow, very well said, thanks for the education. :)

  • thanks for watching!

  • I (and two fellow students) did an independent study on trans theory/studies last semester. I ended up writing my paper on how the closet theoretically 'eats itself' when applied to trans studies/theory.

We used Stryker/Whittle's 'Transgender Studies Reader' as an anthology of sources. I think that this is a great source and HIGHLY recc it for those that are interested. (even the trans=anomaly!BLEH! medical essays are interesting to read)

    Excellent video, Kade.

  • that's a really great recommendation!

  • Kade thanks so much for making these vids, you have no clue how much you have educated myself on this topic. It isn't some thing pertains directly to me, but I wanna be knowledgable about everyone in our community. Hope that came out right? You are my hero though<3 U RAWK!!!!!

  • it definitely did. i'm really glad you got something out of it. no heroes, just being honest. :)

  • I'm happy your sugery went well. I respect you. That may sound odd, but I really do appreciate your honesty and willingness and your ability to share how you feel so genuinely. Your demeanour is just admirable. Thank you for just being you :)

  • wow, thank you for that. sincerely.

  • i could listen to you talk for hours

not only because of how..eloquent you are, but also your voice is so smooth!

    Lovely prelude

    :]

  • this was a really great comment.

    thank you for the compliment.

i'm always afraid people will get bored halfway through. :p

  • Oh god no. Quite the opposite.

    :]

I like that you respond to all the comments. I find that quite charming. Haha.

  • kade i <3 u. ur awesome

  • no, i love you! :)

  • u just kinda made my day =D

  • You are so hot!!!!! good work! excellent video

  • haha. well thank you.

  • WOW it looks like your surgery was perfect.

Does it feel amazing? (besides the pain)

nice prelude.. I'm looking forward to the next segment.

  • i can't claim perfection, but it does feel great. :)

  • oh kade you had your surgery

    thats fabulous!!

    i'm so happy for you

  • indeed. thank you! :)

  • thanks so much for helping us learn :D

  • thanks for watching!

  • dude youre so cool!

  • i'm not really. haha. but thanks!

  • Thank you for making this.

Haha the "I would date a gay" part made me laugh :)

  • haha. it made me laugh too. :)

  • Hi Kade,

First off, thanks for this! You explain this a lot better than my Sexual Politics professor!

I do have a question for you, again about terms. If gender is about social constructions (woman, man, masculinity, femininity), and sex is about biology (male, female), then how do the terms MTF and FTM refer to trans people who haven't undergone any body modification?

    Hope that makes sense.

  • wowzer, such a GREAT question! you did a really great setting it up too. its a hard one to answer, i'm not exactly sure. i'm just one opinion. but i think its easier as an umbrella term for general transition, even though some opt out of surgery/hormones. in the community, the words pre-op(eration), post-op, and non-op are used to distinguish. hope that helps. you're more than welcome to PM me. :)

  • I'm glad you did this for the baby beaves - a lot of us need more education!

    Hope all is well !

    xox

    mara

  • education is where its at, yo.

  • Thanks, that was illuminating.

I think when you want someone to understand something, it's good to lay out the rules and definitions. I think it helps keep bias thoughts to a minimum.

Anyway, the subject is clearer, and I'm grateful. Not all my questions are resolved, but trans is definitely defined in my mind.

    (questions are mainly emotional issues)

  • yeah emotions make things fuzzy, but i'm really glad this video helped. i know when i'm confused it doesnt help to move on to further more complicated thoughts. haha. so, i'm glad you agree.

  • Also I really believe a video like this should be shown in schools throughout the world. Its such a shame thats teenagers and kids don't learn anything about gender in general in school but like maths, english and science I really think Gender studies shuold be compulsory. Whats more important than telling a child/teen its ok to be you?! nothing in my opinion. lol sorry for the rant!

  • sing it! agreed. annnd AGREED. :)

  • Kade! Education is the key thank you so much! I always learn something new from your videos plus you make me smile which is always a good thing. Keep up the great work and I'm totally looking forward to the 2nd part. Education is fun when youre the teacher!!

  • if you're smiling and learning- hell, my job is done! :) thank you so much for watching.

  • Kade, congrats on the surgery! :)

And thank you for being such an amazing person!

I highly recommend the documentary "My secret self". Quoting the video description on youtube:

"It features Barbara Walters as she interviews the families of young transgender children. It is amazingly unbiased, sensitive, and well done. Have your kleenex handy..."

  • i've seen it! definitely a very cool look inside the lives of transgendered kids. it sheds some light on something some think is a choice. a must see for sure. thanks for recommending! :) and thank you for the compliment.

  • Amazing.

    Very good explaination. =]

  • thank you.

  • Thanks for explaining and being there for people who want to know and understand.

  • thank you, my friend, for watching. i'm here. :)

  • Hey. Really great video. You spelled it out pretty well. I know it must be hard, kowing that you're only one trans guy and there are many different views, opinions, and perspective just within our community. I think that you did a good job though. Glad you're feeling better. Can't wait for PII when I get work from the Bux. Later.

  • haha. for real. :)

thanks for noticing. it is very hard to speak for a community, so i tried my best to keep it general. this video could have been hours long. haha.

  • Great Video Kade Very intresting and i did learn some things i didnt know before :]!

  • yay! that's what i was going for! :) thanks.

  • loving your stuff Kade! keep it up! xxx

  • I am very interested to hear your views in part two!

  • soon! very soon!

  • great video! hopefully it will educate people :)

  • that is definitely my hope, as well.

  • Another great video Kade! Thank you so much for breaking this down in easily understood terms. Can't wait for part 2! ~Z~

  • thanks for watching!

  • Kade!!!! you are so freaking smart! I just love your freakin guts!!! So I assume from the pics the surgery is done?!?!? OMG OMG I AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU! Nice to have that wieght lifted of your chest huh :P

  • in more ways than one. :D

  • LOL I know xoxoxox

  • I have to say..In this video alone I have learnt more than I have ever learnt in my 16 years on this planet. Well maybe a slight exaggeration there...But you do teach well ;)

  • that is a lot of learning. :p but thank you so much. i'm really really glad you got something out of it.

  • Sorry for 2 posts but, I am so glad you expounded on the dating thing, that is one that the girls struggled a bit with, except Michelle. And you have such a clear way of presenting things Kade. Also, my tranny comments not meant to be taken personal but as a general statement. Transition is hard work, don't worry as much about this term or that, there are enough other challenges for us out there to address that really can have much greater impacts as to how the rest of the world perceives us.

  • you are so very right. and i really appreciate both comments and your honesty. i didnt forget about michelle! she did a fantastic job (and will be mentioned in part two). and i do agree that worrying about terms is a bit unnecessary, but i think its all inclusive in the education portion of the non-trans world. transition is very hard work! good thing i'm a multi-tasker. :)

  • Jess was ok but Michelle was supurb for someone not trans. Your comment "there is no one way to be a trans person" - should be made quote of the week. Darknesswhsipers, the term 'Tranny' isn't offensive at all. At least not in the circles I turn in. I wish that trans people would waste less time worrying about which terms are offensive and devote that energy to improving themselves and making their transitions a success so they themselves aren't offensive to the society around them.

  • I'm eagerly anticipating part two!

I get a bit confused with the terms... Transgendered is the community, umbrella term, and transsexual refers to someone who wants to have a sex change?

And a trans woman is MTF?

I hear the terms mixed around so much, it gets confusing.

Is it offensive to say 'This person is trans.' Or, "My friend, Bob, is trans." Or should you say 'My friend, Bob, is a trans person'?

Can you say that someone -is- trans, rather than saying that they are a trans?

  • Great questions!

Yes, transgendered is the umbrella term and transsexual refers to someone seeking or in the process of a physical transition most often involving hormones or surgery.

    Yes, a transwoman is mtf.

It's not offensive at all to say someone "is" trans, and I dont think its entirely offensive to say someone is "a" trans either. It's just a personal pet peeve, but if you're asking opinion go with "someone is trans". :)

    thanks for being honest!

  • Additionally, 'tranny' is just way out of line, right? Or is that a term that can be used in the transgendered community? Personally, I cringe when it's used, but it's also used in the media and stuff... (Not that the media is a good judge of what's offensive and what's not)

I wonder if there's a guide to all the terms and proper etiquette in the lgbtqi community. If there was, I'd prolly read it to make sure, then pass it on to my mum, who's completely hopeless about that sort of stuff.

  • Comment removed

  • oh parents. welcome to the world of patience. :p

as for the term "tranny," it really depends on the person. personally, i think its similar to lesbians saying dyke or gay men saying fag. it gives me the same kind of cringing feeling. but you are right, it is widely used.

if you're asking me- i'd say find a better word.

but some others might tell you differently.

  • I agree that America or the world in genral should be educated on Gay, transgrender, hertosexuals inclueded. My self coming out at an earlier stage in my life I was sterotyped as the kid who wears pink, has the pink iphone cover, and talked funny. I had to basically teach them being gay doesn't mean you talk funny, or look a certain way it just your sexual prefrence.

  • I think your patience is admirable. :)

More people should be just as willing to educate.
