  • 250 mpg? really? i must be doing something wrong. my 40cc gets a wee bit over HALF of that (i calculated around 135 mpg average). You must be pedaling alot to get that kind of mileage! am i right?

  • Are the engine & mounting kits available still and the info "how to" etc? This seems like a kick to have one.

  • If that does 250mpg with a 2 stroke and a single speed fixed gear ratio (meaning a bit of energy wasted engine braking), I can't wait to see what a 4 stroke with all the gears used by the pedals would do (at equivalent speed)

  • dude you live in the country, why not start a coke plantation, that ways people come to you for coke, jk lol

  • Til we have nuclear powered transportation this is the next best thing.

  • That is an awesome invention he has there.

  • Awesome job dude. Way to stick it to Big Oil. I love it.

  • purely amazing.

  • nice vid and idea!

  • good going your bike has the most dependable

    setup,belts are pretty trouble free.

i also noticed your bike dosnt rattle like the 80 cc engine kits do.nothing against those kits though

    they are pretty neet.

also a friction drive setup will gobble up your tires in a hurry.

I am very impressed with your bike.

  • Cool thanks, time for me to buy that engine, whoooo

  • Im from the U.K can you run this thing on a normal driving licence?

  • u don't need one

  • thats cool

  • surely a moped would do that and be more reliable that engine sounds like its working alot

  • How many flat tires have you had to repair along the way and did you have any engine problems since you rode that many miles and over such long distances?

  • very pro video. good work

  • where do you get the kit from

  • You said you got plans from popular mechanics. Thats cool where do you get the parts and how do you attach the sprocket to the spokes? Does the engine need a centrifugal clutch?i would like to build one.

  • it comes with everything you need.

  • This is way better than a car - who wants to waste petrol lugging a tonne of metal around everywhere with them?

  • And the worst part? They're illegal in like half the states.

  • and if it brakes down you still pedal

  • Hello fellow Alabamian.

I am planning on mounting a 49cc to a mountain bike but was wondering if you've tried running a sprocket on the crank so that you can utilize the derailleur gear system. Being that I have a clutch it'd be easier on it and would allow me to have quicker takeoffs and much higher speed. What are your thoughts and experiences?

  • i wonder how long it took him to ride to denver and how long he rode a day

  • 1,313 miles / 30 mph = 43.7 hrs to get there, 87.4 hrs round trip.

That's at top speed. I usually cruise at 15-20 because hitting a well-placed rock, pavement crack, or pothole at 30 on a bicycle is like hitting something at 70+ on a motorcycle.

  • thats not bad..like doing an 8 hour shift for teh week to get there ..not bad man

  • What's the website to get this conversion kit?

  • you can get better designed kits albeit lower quality engine on ebay for 180 bucks shipping and all type in "bicycle engine kit"

  • youre awesome keep it up, youre an inspiration

  • u better have a spare inner tube and pump in that basket or ull be salty as hell when that tire blows

  • hes gay

  • lol, nice.

  • what do the cops say?

  • legal

  • It's the most fun a redneck can have when his sister is out of town. J/K!! lol

  • Hi all

in the UK the laws are against this, you need EU "type approval" or an MVSA (single vehicle test for homebuilt vehicles)to get it on the road. If you go over 16mph the regs are really strict.

Really sad when fuel is £1.25 a litre thats £5.65 a gallon !!

  • I'm in victoria, Australia and a bicycle with a motor more powerful than 200w (like a 200w electric motor) is illegal. Well I just bought a 90cc bike engine kit and I have every intention of using it on public roads. The laws are bullshit and are only there to get me to buy more friggin petrol because government wants nothing more than to make more tax money and to destroy the environment (melodramatic?... I don't care) Legislation sucks balls

  • Its not considered a moped. Pedal assist under federal law. No license, head light or turn signals required. I did the research before ordering mine on e-bay...

I would put some lights on it though and keep it to the side roads in the city... People tend to get pissy if they are behind you on a secondary city road...:)

  • I want a motorized bike

  • he should put a v8 on it that way he'd only have to give it one quick squirt an he would get to town faster than he'd ever imagined

  • you should have bought a case of coke so you didn't have to drive 10 miles everytime you got thirsty!

    JK good vid

  • buy a case? and miss all the fun of going to get it. come on get real.

i built a 4 stroke on a huffy. i would rather drive it than my Dakota

  • @ufohunter12 he couldnt fit it on his bike

  • Oh man, that looks like fun!

  • fantastic!

  • do you not need a lisense plate?

  • Didn't you hear him say he's in Arkansas?

  • what does that have to do wit it

  • Arkansas is most back woods, the cops have better things to do. Besides, this is just a power assist bicycle, no license needed for bicycles.

  • I can't wait to build my own. I just started looking into these engines and I am sold.

  • I wish I were your neighbour,I'd pay you to build one for me.Roughly how much would it cost, and if I sent you the dough covering shipping, build and materials, would you be interested?Anyway, maybe you could reccomend a reliable, inexpensive kit.

Seriously,I often cycle from town to town on my mountain bike and there are times when I am tired.

This looks like a relaxing way to bike it.

  • hey guys & gals, it's a kit now. just do one of those google searches for bike motors.

the 4 stroke lasts longer and burns more completely than a 2 stroke engine.

  • WOW!! soo cool!

can you build me one?! haha

I was actually thinking about it

  • hehe $3 a gallon, you poor guys, in the UK it's £1.02 a litre so an American gallon is 3.78 litres that means it's £3.86 a gallon that is almost $8 a gallon.

  • WHAT THE HELL!??? 1 pound a litre, Dude i think you got it wrong 1.00 GBP =1.96109 USD so to say "you poor guys to the us dude?" poor uk!

Here in Australia we r paying $1.40au (0.647517GBP) a liter.

The US have it sweet and they complain more then the rest of the world.

Do the maths they are only paying $1.26 (1.38915 AUD)a liter!!! thats cheaper then Australia, not much but still is. Id love ot save a cent here and there u know. Poor uk though lol your currency sucks it doesnt convert right

  • $1 AU is about $1 US, $1 AU is about 100yen and backwards +- 10 cents

THE UK!! $1AU =.50GPB but in the uk you still pay 1gpb for something that here you pay $1au for you know? ($2 there $1 here)It doesnt make cents (lol)

  • our currency converts fine thanks it's too strong at the moment the reason our fuel is so expensive is the 75% tax but hell i don't drive (bar for work and then they pay) so they get non of my pennies

  • Most of the cost of UK fuel goes to taxes. So, poor you in my opinion.

  • Very nice! Is there a muffler attachment to make it a bit quieter?

  • can u make me one for a bmx bike? i live in california

  • hey, i want one does it require driver licence?

  • Usually just a moped license. Some states no license at all I believe.

  • Google "moped laws" and you will get the skinny on every states laws I know this much in Louisiana you must have a cycle endorsement blinkers head lamp helmet insurance for any motorized vehicle even an electric bike but the question is will the cops bite?

I have seen a man that had a homemade motorbike from an old ass lawnmower he rode it to the shipyard everyday and returned home. Mr Crabtree is the only man I ever heard of making such a journey on a homemade moped craft.

  • if they were considered cool, id get one to. but for a teen, its not yet my choice of transpertaion. Good vid, keep up the good work!

  • That's great. I build 49cc bikes from 20" - 26" with speeds from 20 to 45 mph. aprox. 200 mpg. I use a one-of-a-kind V-pulley system.

  • my bike is 80cc i got the kit on ebay...

  • how fast does it go?

  • Do you still have the info where you bought it?

    Thanks

  • His is the golden eagle kit with a redmax engine. bikeenginescom
