THANK YOU for knowing what a DIRGE is Michael Hedges, whomever you may be. I was looking for some dirges on YouTube, and half of them are bouncy techno. How SEVERELY inappropriate.
Sadly Michael passed away in a car accident back in 97. This is one of my favorite songs he wrote, and I do believe he managed to instill a prominent semblance within these 3 minutes.
That's not to say that funerals are supposed to be depressing, hell, I wouldn't mind my one to have a jazzy vibe and cocktails on the house :) Death isn't bad, it's simply nature.
Haha, sure dude. I wasn't knocking if you don't wanna go off on a bad note, who does? But the people around you are gonna mourn regardless, if they loved you, and music that resounds with that can be helpful... know what I'm sayin'?
For those who don't know, the bassist in the song is Michael Manring. Check him out, he's done some very interesting stuff as a solo artist too.

(A dirge is a funeral song of mourning.)

@Ponpokoi This song is indeed natural. Reminds me of a warm breeze in a cold day.

Hedges and Manring, Metheny and Pastorius, some duets were just meant to be, and it's sad they can't continue.

@athre0 It's worth checking out Michael Manring's tribute music to Hedges, "The Book of Living and Dying"
