80s ALERT!!! Tix went on sale today for Machinations reunion Friday February 24, 2012, at the Bridge Hotel, Rozelle (Sydney). Available via Moshtix (moshtix.com.au) and the venue (02 9810 1260). This is a reasonably intimate venue so if you wanna go you need to move - there is no tour, this is it. The lineup is Fred Loneragan (vocals), Tim Doyle (guitar), Tony Starr (synthesizers), Nero Swan (bass) and John Mackay (drums). First headline show in 23 years.
@nerdflanders8710 You're assuming they'd want to fuck the likes of you anyway. In my experience, gay men are pretty discerning. plus, straight men seem to be the ones more prone to surprise buttsecks (aka rape).
This song was SOOOOO "80's" and I LOVED it...I mean, LOVED IT!!!! But Pseudo Echo's version of "Funkytown" is the worst remake of any song EVER...never, never, never try to cover a song that is already as perfect as it can be!!! Like Hydrox & Oreos people!!!!
I live in the US and I LOVED this group back int he 80's. I remember having my VHS tape ready to record when they came on the tv, like Nick Rocks & TBS Night Tracks. I never did see this video. Thanks for posting!
lmao omg i remember this, I was only 11 at the time and thought Brian Canham was the spunkiest guy ever! I like this but just love FUNKY TOWN..... great song!!
@BionicKris you might know their version of 'Funky Town', from 1986 (go to nzoz1986 upload of song mentioned for best picture and sound quality). There's plenty of other videos of this band that had been uploaded by Americans, where the VH1 classic logo is clearly seen on screen.
Somehow it's, at the 80 make up for boy's was cool, then after 90's it was out and now slowly it comes again that make up for boys is cool xD The world is wired
Somehow it's, at the 80 make up for boy's was cool, then after 90's it was out and now slowly it comes again that make up for boys is cool xD The world is wired
Slippers, baggy pants, cardigans draped across shoulders and flicked gelled hair!!Those were the days....Other than that :Pseudo Echo were good for that period..
No, I don't think so, because it's natural for people to go through cycles of liking something and then being sick of something. At least in the US, it seems like every 20 years that pass, fads (hairstyles, clothing, etc.) that was popular 20 years earlier always seems to come back in various people's conscience and they bring elements of those fads back.
Plus, if you're a person that likes something and doesn't give a crap if others don't like it at the end of the day, you should try it out
they were most known in the US for their version of 'Funky Town', which came out a few years later. I don't know how they took off in the UK. I think a few of their other songs were played on MTV at some point.
I loved the 80's, the music was uncomplicated, catchy and the clothes! lol The best part is apart from hair do's they were so natural, none of this 'perfect' teeth and 'perfect' bodies!
I disagree, respectfully. It was a different type of perfection. I recall the "standard" being stricter... no public grubbiness, like there is nowadays. You spent time to look SHARP... you didn't even run to the gas station in your jammies! And pony tails... ohhhh hellllll nooo!! lol
I don't know which part of the world you lived in, but my world in the 80's wasn't so 'sharply' dressed. I was a kid and the most I saw was badly dressed school teachers, uni-students, unemployed people, a few junkies, a few punks, mullet heads, etc.
The 'sharply dressed' only seemed to appear on TV, whilst reality looked more like 'Dogs In Space' and Cold Chisel's 'Cheap Wine' video clip.
Sorry, I might add that I was from 1980's working class Sydney (Cold Chisel's video for 'Saturday Night' perfectly captures my 1980's childhood); where you'd see a dead junkie laying on the side of the road on your way to buying a newspaper...
I remember watching this on Countdown in 1983 when I was 12 and my family had just emigrated to Australia from England. Brilliant tune, great band, as good as any new romantics out of the UK.
