South Africans also call elevators lifts, which makes sense since South Africa was orginally a Dutch colony. Another thing is that in South Africa, 'Apartments' are know as 'flats', which is what the British call them, I think...correct me if I'm wrong. IDK why I'm even watching this, since Afrikaans and Dutch are pratically the same, in fact, learning Dutch actually helped me improve my Afrikaans!

In the northern part they speak with a rolled R and a 'hard' G. In the souterhn part we speak with a Frecnh R and a 'soft' G.

Almost everywhere you go here, they speak with a different accent and different G's R's, V's, F's, S's and Z's.

In the northern part you (almost) can't hear the different between V & F and between S & Z, in de southern part that difference is very clearly to hear.

I'm so happy to be Spanish and French XD spanish pronounciation helps a lot to pronounce "S" "R" and "G" in dutch, that are exactly or almost the same. French helps to know how to say "U" and "E" :) now that is really helpful at university when i need to read dutch in front of my teacher :D

I heard that in this language it is better to learn the vocabulary joint to the articles.

@mochababy1990 ui is not an english vowel sound, the best description i can give is try saying the english 'house' but with your lips rounded and your tongue on your bottom teeth.. eeuw is basically ay-ooh.. eu is more of an o sound.. hope that helped sorry if that's kinda crap but the dutch sounds are different from english and therefore hard to mimic!

@mochababy1990 the ui was one of the hardest sounds for me to learn too (as an english speaker) not sure how I can show you without making a video and cos i'm not actually dutch i might not be right... the way i learnt it was that it is almost 2 sounds.. like ow-oo but in one. but the first sound is kinda a cross between ay and ow... I think if you just listen to people talking dutch it will eventually click! how come you're learning dutch? and which songs are you listening to? :P

Wow. Your accent is quite similar to that of my language, except for the pronunciation of the "g" and the "ch", which is the same as the English "g" and German "ch." For the words similar to that of your language tend to use a "j" instead of a "g" as well in mine. The "ij" and "ee" are also opposite in pronunciation.
