sod the trekking companys...go solo , cheaper, can aclimatize a your own pace, chill out in special places...i was lucky to catch an avalanch at bc...not as lucky as the 7 climbers they pulled out alive ,,,,,,check out the video response
Did the trek with my son in Nov. 07 with Mountain Madness. It was the trip of a lifetime. But be in shape - the more your train the better the overall experience!. I am an all year trekker but for this trip put in extra sessions in the gym on on the road for 12 months prior. The altitude affects everyone differently, & communications with your group leader is a must.
have a look at my other videos, plenty on Nepal and everest. In 2008 i went to EBC for my second time. Got really sick just as i got to basecamp, i got HAPE, a pulmonary Edema, had to get a helicopter to hospital. Was very serious indeed. Be warned, if you feel unwell, dont try and be a hard man, tell your guide or who ever is in charge
great vid, looking forward to going to nepal next year, although i imagine it "feels" very different to how it "looks" on video, i'm not getting the sense of cold, or smell, or hunger etc
Did the basecamp trek in november 2008, got to gorak shep, last village before basecamp, and suffered a High Altitude Pulmonary Edema, (HAPE) it nearly killed me, i had to get a heli-evacuation. Dont underestimate this trek, its lovely but illness can affect even fit people... be warned..... the trek company are only interested in getting your booking

Amazing scope of what you will see on the ebc trip. It was a dream and a nightmare rolled in to one.
