My God this is great. Whenever I find another one of these beautiful home demos, I'm reminded of the senseless evil that resulted in John being taken from the world. I can't believe that weak little creep with a gun has not taken his own life by now. This post is not in the spirit of JL, but Dec. 8 1980 still makes me sick. Thanks for posting this beans.

And this is just a spontaneous home recording. He would just turn on a tape recorder and work on his own songs, take after take. Then, in between, he would just spontaneously burst into a song from one of his idols. This is just a home jam he never thought anyone would ever hear. And it's STILL so complete and so beautiful.

John Lennon could never sound like shit. Increased clarity of recording just made him sound better. The Beatles would have sounded even better if they had today's equipment - just listen to some of Paul's concerts, the video of him doing Please Please Me had just outstanding sound. Of course you have a point with the demos, since Lennon was just trying to get the basic tracks of the melody and words down, he didn't expect anyone was going to listen to his tapes so he wasn't singing to impress.

Lennon was slightly dyslexic..he used different words like 'here's a song by peggy Leg (Peggy Lee) and his book 'A spaniard in the works'..when asked how far Liverpool was from Leeds he said 'About two hours by potted shrimp'.. I it helped him with his music rather than hinder him. He had a very black humour . you'd laugh but feel guilty afterwards.He thought differently..I was looking at a stack of LP's once..the only one with the title the opposite way around was a Beatles one.....accident???
