@brian93ist There is 1750 rpm on the tractor to give 540 on the shaft which in turn gives the baler 81 ram strokes per minute. Just watch closley to see how quick the bale is comeing out of the chamber.
hi there, im just wundering were you get parts from for this bales, because mine might be baling alot of hay/straw this year and cud do with finding a place for parts.
@birty1212 any parts for the baler its self has to be sourced from scrap ones lying through the country. The likes of bearings and chains can be got from bearing suppliers. Plunger bearings have an axle made into them are got from New Holland balers and the adjustable slides adjusted to suit the slightly smaller outside diameter of the bearing. If your stop block is working, you will never need needles either.
I remember my uncle rigging up a length of bent angle iron on the left hand side of the tailgate ( i.e. looking towards the tractor from the back of the baler ) to stop those odd rogue bales falling out and missing the sledge during right hand turns.
There is a lot less stress on the sledge tailgate if you have some sheet metal slides in the sledge itself for the bales to ride on. ( At least our Perry Bale sledge had those)
You mabey cant see it in the video but there is 25 half inch diameter round steel bars in the floor of the sledge for the bales to run on. If they wernt in it the bales would be torn to shreads and you couldnt pull the dour open to release the bales
Oh I see, good idea. I did actually wonder how it was working! Ours had 6 flat slats on the bottom but we were continuously having to weld the damn things up again!
The slip clutch on our baler is a real good job on the pick up reel as it stops you from lifting too much material in a lump. It will be a real dose to keep it going if the friction plates become hard with age and they slip like mad. Replace the two plates, they are only a couple of quid each and its as good as new again.
I used to have a Jones baler the same ,excellent baler. I had it behind my 35x and sometimes my zetor 7341. I sold it end of last year but I think I did the wrong thing! Great video by the way!
Wow that takes me back, during the early 1970's we had a MF 168 tractor and an Allis-Chalmers 300 baler ( Made by Jones actually ) and a similar bale sledge to that. Lovely sound eh?
Hey if you mount a fan blowing down on the knoters it will save you alot of problems later they wont where out as fast.

how big are them rows, is it like 12ft corn header on the combine?
birty1212 1 year ago
@birty1212 these rows are small, 10ft heads on the combine. Thats wide enough when the straw gets wet and your trying to get it dry for baleing.

We have to replace ours now and again as they can get bent and do wear down through time.

what do you think of the slip clitch for the pick up reel on this bale?r i have one but the clutch is a bad idea and i welded it up.

Welded it up? OMG you are asking for trouble. You might end up with a busted chain, sprocket or maybe both!
