Is anything visible from route 29? I've made many trips north from Lambertville and have seen the canal, but no RR remnants except for a couple grown-over spurs going off into fenced-off areas across the road. There's an interesting old mill along the way. Wonder if the RR once served it!
Don't ya just love the Black River and Western for leaving rail equipment to rust and rot? I believe this rail equipment was supposed to be restored for a Railroad Musuem in Phillipsburg that never happened
Whenever I go up to Lambertville, which is frequently, I always go down these back roads and see this car. It seems to have a fresh coat of graffiti every week. I also found a cluster of old railroad cars further down on the road. I haven't climbed up into it. It's wobbly as it is. :) But, it's nice to see.
I did a music video with one of those cars. You might get a kick out of it, those cars have been there since I was a kid. The video turned out really well. Check it out!
The old rail beds ran from north of Milford to Trenton, generally paralelling the canal or river the whole way down. Some parts of the tracks have been lost, but if you follow the tow path you find find more cars.
I work for the state park system, and have to maintain the property by the old rail car. the rail bed used to run paralell to the river. It's still owned by Conrail, and the only things that haunts the abandon cars are crack heads and the occasional vagrant. They aren't secluded, since they're close to the heavily used tow path, a boat club and boat launch, sewage plant, and storage sheds.
Thanks for your comment. Are there more of these cars laying about along the canal? I've only made it up to where this one is, and just south of Lambertville. I also took video of the ones in New Hope.
There might be. It's been a while since I've been back there. In your videeo it looks like your on the conrail access road. If you turn into the parking lot for the Lambertville Station, then follow the gravel road (When it splits stay to the right it's less bumpy)straight back to the parking area by the bathroom you can park and walk down the tow path. If you want more info on trains look up D and R Canal
@Ladymayhem01 i once saw like 7 conrail SD-42s in the woods and i tried firing one up and it worked. the other 6 worked too but cylinders were stuffed. got brand new ones of them. i use them still. i fired the one with graffiti on it and it still worked. i put it on my test track and it ran like hell. so i kept them all

These trains are the best spots to smoke crack, shoot heroin and show prostitutes a good time. They're kinda secluded on the canal path just north of Lambertville. The trains south aren't so secluded and boast a putrid smell of feces as it sits adjacent from the Lambertville sewage treatment facility.
There's another one about a mile south of this one that's in similar shape. I have video of it if you want to check it out ("another abandoned train")
all i can tell you is it's own by the BR&W they tend to keep most of there equipment in Ringos NJ but that baggage car (witch i never knew was there) a passenger car (i think a P70 but i olny got a glance at it) and a hopper car is kept in Lambertville (probably to be never used again)
The train in this video was on the Lambertville side of the Delaware, just off the canal. The other video that I have is on the New Hope side. Right at the same "altitude" though. If you like trains, it's really cool to come along it.
Yea, it should still be there. Looked like it had been there for a while. To get there, search out the "River Horse Brewing Company", keep on walking past it until you come along the canal. Should not be too far from there.
LOL, it's a fema train. Hee Hee.

That belongs to the Black River and Western Railroad. It's being turned into a museum car at their station in Ringoes.

Its NOT a train! Its a baggage car! Please correct your mistake.

you should try to go into the rail car

It looks like an old Pullman Heavy Weight Baggage Car. Any railroad rolling stock is a treasure to see on a old RR abandoned right of way.

I wonder if anyone has ever tried to get inside the car since it's been abandoned, I can only imagine how creepy it would be.

One wonders how cars like this got forgotten and left behind when the lines were abandoned. What a strange sight.
