@Randomthingsandchick It will depending on the kind of bulb. The problem is, that temp is not regulated, so it cannot take the place of a heater. Some bulbs can overheat a tank. But usually bulbs made for tanks won't increase the temp too much.
Is it okay to put a betta with my oscar and a couple paranas? JUST. KIDDING. But seriously, I was wondering what the Ph for bettas is and if it is ok to have multiple females in one tank. I have a 20 gallon long tank. thanks.
@peinerchestical pH is not a concern for bettas, they tolerate a very large range. Yes, a 20 long is a great size for a sorority. The more you have, the less aggression there is and sisters get along better. The minimum is about 5 girls. Make sure there are lots of hiding places and plants that go to the surface so less dominant females can breathe without being attacked. Just keep an eye on them, some aggression is normal, but a lot of sororities fail, so have a plan B. Good luck!
Hi there. I'm Reece and I have a 10 gallon (US gallon) tank. It's a cube tank too. (if that matters). My tank has been cycled for a week by 4 harlequin Rasboras and 4 zebra danios and my tank temperature is very reliable as pretty much 9 times out of 10 when I look at the thermometer it is 24 degrees Celsius or 76 degrees farenheit. Am I ok to get a betta?
@EnglishMadMan1 Bettas do a bit better a couple degrees warmer, but 76 is ok. I'm guessing you have a heater then? If you do, it sounds like your tank is good to go! In the future though, I would not recommend cycling with a different fish, it's hard on them and then you have to get rid of them. You can cycle with a betta (aslong as you keep up with water changes) or with another ammonia source. But good job doing research first! :)
@Wolfie238 25 watt heaters are a good size for smaller tanks. The heater package should tell you what size tank it is made for. One made for 5 gallons should be good. Don't get one that the tank sits on top of, those will most likely overheat your tank. Adjustable ones are better. But either works. I would recommend any 25 watt adjustable heater. They're a little more expensive, but are well worth it. :)
Would a light on top of the fish tank provide some heat?

Great Betta care videos. Thank you for providing novice owners like myself with helpful tips.
My question is, what would be the best heater for a 3gal tank?
