Burka is not a islamic dress.Prophet mohammed(saws) wives never dressed like that. yes islam does ask you to dress modestly but the burka was invent 1000,s years after islam came.Islam ask you to dress modestly and dress according to the times so you dont look indifferent. No one is forcing the general public to wear such clothing. If you don't like it, then that is your choice, not to wear it. The designs are still amazing, and it shows Pakistan, can compete globally, with such great designers. Don't mix religion, with fashion. I fully agree with the comment below.
He meant the traditional Pakistani clothes that is shalwar kameez, not burkha. If you go to Pakistan you will see most women wearing shalwar kameez and even western clothes now, only a FEW wear burka.

And Pakistan was never intended to be an Islamic fundementalist state, the Quaid intended for it to be a secular Islamic one, similar to Turkey's system.
