strange, the ac556 normally has a really high rate of fire. that was only around 600 rpm

The ROF for a stock AC556 is @750 RPM. The 90 round mag exerts a lot of pressure on the reciprocating bolt which slows down the ROF during the first several rounds. Listen closely and you will hear the ROF increase as the number of rounds fired increased.

@jasonbelue : Yes I even have seen and heard M-16's speed up the cycle rate as rounds are fires due to less tension on the fallowing rounds in the magazine as rounds are fired .

So I can believe the rate of fire speeds up with this Ruger AC 556 .

It wasn't glowing red, but it was HOT, HOT, HOT!!!!! I carry a spray bottle of water to cool the barrel down after stunts like this.

Ive heard of ppl using motor oil for the same purpose. Wonder what effect it has on the barrel. Thats basically a form of heat treatment.

I think that if you shoot the gun like that you could warp the barrel, so try not to do that offen. You may not have as much acuracy with target shooting.

To say it needs improvements, or could be replaced with a better weapon is one thing, to call it a piece of shit is another. I am sure I could do a lot with that "POS". Its a good weapon, it just needs to be maintained strictly. Id rather carry a SCAR myself, but I wont say the m16 is shit.

It is literally smoking hot. I just spray the bore down with water after a mag dump to cool things down a bit. I don't reccomend doing this often, but this rifle is getting a new barrel soon anyway. See you around Perfectunion.

Are you sure you want to do that? I've seen a .50 cal barrel crack doing that - try boiling or very hot water (it'll still cool it down but not so much so fast)
