  • Thanx Brother Man great vid, helped muah!

  • Get the right ram and use the fastest and most reliable memory you can afford to avoid problems later.

  • Hello and nice video. I have a question. Well we have the same tower and i have a hard time trying to find where the cpu is. I can't find a way to find it under the green cap. Can you please make a video about that. much appreciated!

  • Hi,

I have a Dell Optiplex GX 270, with Windows xp Home Edition 32 - Bit.

How much Ram can i get on it?

P,S: I want to buy a 1 GB Ram DDR-2, is that good for gaming?

    Games like Counter strike Source?

    Answer quik PLEASE.

  • @KiLLerBaas no get 8gb or better. hope i answered quick lol

  • @FSXSOUTHWESTPILOT HAHAHAHHA xD

I have now a new pc xD

And i have now experience with pc's.

  • hey, i have a windows xp, home editon 64 bit. how much ram can i install.

  • @tjl1297 it depends on the motherboard

  • That looks like a dell dimension 2350 without the AGP slot. Am I correct?

  • Or, you can wear a pair of rubber boots..."(Wellies or Welington, rubber boots)" Thank-you for posting.

  • That Air Duct/Shroud is factory equipment from Dell.

  • wer did u get the air duct from?? im looking for one just like that

  • argh ohh ok :)

  • when i installed my ram, and put my pc back together it made a beeping noise and it wouldn't even show it on the screen

then i took the ram out and everything worked fine

    please help!!.

  • HEY pacorocks1!! same thing happened to me also. problem is that: 1- your RAM is not placed currently in slot. 2- your RAM is destroyd by antistatic or its dead

for me was my RAM destroyd by my antistatic, were i forgot to set my antistatic kabel back on my hand, when i cleaned my computer.

    so be

  • I would scan it on our site and see it it can find it for you. Thanks.

  • thank you very much

  • hey great video. ive got 2x 1gb ddr2 667mhz ram on my comp. and i want to upgrade it to 2x 2gb ddr2 800mhz will this work?

  • It totally depends on your motherboard limitations and your operating system. Your motherboard might take that speed (800mhz) and has a 4 GB max, but you have a 32 bit OS. It's a known issue that 32 bit OS will only recognize between 3-4GB and will never show the full 4. Most people don't care or are running a 64 bit version of Vista so it's not an issue. Long story short, I would need more info to answer. You can go to our site and look up your model as well. Hope this helps.

  • thanks. ive got a intel core 2 duo cpu running at 2.00ghz x2.

  • its also a windows vista home premium

  • Do you have the make and model of your computer? This will help with finding specs. Also, you may need to upgrade to the newest service pack.

  • this is what my spec is. its an intel core 2 duo E4400 dual core processor (2.0ghz,2mb cache, 800mhz genuine windows vista home premium. pci express mainboard pentium d core 2 duo micro ATX. 2gb ddr2 667mhz memory (2x 1gb) 500gb hard drive 16 mb buffer. 256 mb geforce 8400 gs. thats what it says on this piece of paper i heve. hope it helps!!!!

  • its service pack 1 btw :)

  • We would need the model of the Micro ATX motherboard as well.

  • its P17G. i think

  • my computer has 256 mb ddr2 memory and i want to put 1 gig on it will i need 2 512mb memory cards? thanks

  • Every computer is going to be different. You will want to check with the manufacture specifications as to how much memory your model can take. It the maximum memory is 1GB, then you will need 2-512MB modules. Hope this helps!

  • If it is a desktop there is a change that if the maximum is 1GB, you will need 4x 256MB...

  • This is true. No two models are the same. A computer that can go up to 1GB may have four slots, therefore each slot can take up to a 256MB module, or the computer could go up to 1GB with only two slots, therefore each slot can take up to 512MB in each slot. As always, it is best to check with the manufacture specifications before upgrading.

  • does this go for 2400 dimension desktops too?

  • The set-up of your computer is going to be essentially the same. Some parts on the motherboard may be a different color of instance, but not a huge difference. Hope this helps!

  • thats my computer!

  • i am stuck because i have 2 ddr2 1gb chips and they are not fitting right in the slots

    help please

  • Check to make sure that is what you need. Your computer might take DDR which is one pin off. If it is too long, you might need SO DIMMS. Some desktops take laptop memory. Also, try to flip it around to match the slot up with the notch. You also might be trying to put it in the wrong slot. Hope this helps.

  • i found out(after i ripped open the package) that the guy at best buy gave me laptop memory for a desktop. thought these people were supposed to be geniuses. But they better let me exchange my Ram for desktop

  • You might want to make sure that this memory is not compatable first before going back to Best Buy. Some new desktops take SODIMMS (laptop memory) instead of DIMMS. In fact, most Apple desktops take SODIMMS. You might want to take out your original memory and compare it to what you got from BestBuy unless you have the specs from your owners manual or from the maunfacture's website. Hope this helps.

  • This is great.

    Helped me alot, thanks.

  • Most desktops are fairly similar. You may be able to figure out where to start by going to Dell's website and look at the manual for this specific model. Hope this helps.

  • Hi , can u make a video about opening up a Dell Dimension 4600 step by step cause i don`t know where to start 1st Thx

  • i installed one of those but it say 2.93 gh or something still why?

  • 2.93GHz is actually probably referring to your processor speed. If you had 1GB of RAM, and you installed another 1GB, then hit the Windows button and the "break" key. You should see a message in your system properties that says the speed of your processor and the amount of RAM you have.

  • That's what my MB manual says about the slots (I don't really understand what it means):

2 x 184-pin DIMM sockets support for PC2700/2100/PC1600 non-ECC DDR DIMMs for up to 2GB memory (Note:PC2700 tested by ASUS)

2 x 168-pin DIMM sockets support for PC133/PC100 non-ECC SDRAM DIMM for up to 2GB memory

  • If I'm reading that right, it means you have four memory slots, two for SDRAM and two for DDR. What I would recommend is getting the DDR memory upgrade since it's faster. If you know your motherboard model, you can go to our website and find the right memory. Otherwise you can call our support line and we'll be happy to help you out.

  • Yeah, but should I put the 1GB chip into the next DDR slot or should I remove the old 256MB and replace it with the new one? Can they work together if the old one is 333MHz and the new (for example) is 600MHz?

  • Theoretically, yes. Even if your motherboard doesn't support running the speed that fast, it will still use the memory and will just clock it down automatically. But for best results we usually recommend installing matching pairs of memory. So two 512's or two 1 gig's of the same speed would be your best bet.

  • OK, thank you very much for the responses :)

  • Thanks, great video! But I'm a little confused about changing the memory. I have a DDR 256MB 333 MHz and I want to increase my RAM. Can I put a 1GB chip into the next slot or should I remove the old one and replace it with the new. And is there a problem if the frequency is different (for example 600MHz or something)?

  • untill now i gad msi 7005 or something...256mb ...but if i buy a new APACER AM1 DDR 400 1GB CL3 64*8 ..do i have to remove the msi one and only use the apacer..or can i have both on at a time...i know that i have msi DDR cus on the motherboard it has some orance chip whit msi ddr on it ...so does that mean i can only use msi

  • I'm not sure exactly what you're referring to, but our customer support line would be more than happy to help you.

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH I WAS WONDERING HOW TO DISCHARGE MYSELF and you helped me so much but what i was wondering could you just have put the new RAm in teh secand slot so your computer wll be faster with to RAM chips instead of one

  • You can certainly put more than one memory module in your computer, depending on how many slots there are. Also, your computer might require that each slot contains the same size module and/or speed. If you're confused, calling the support line on our website will help you a bunch.

  • alright thanks

  • you no when yu put da ram inside, as soon as you put it in, does it recognize it already or do you have to do some installation

  • It should recognize your memory automatically as soon as you boot up your computer.

  • So if i dont want to get electricuted and i need to be standing on any type of metal or what.

  • Well, as long as your computer isn't plugged in, you don't need to worry about electrocuting yourself. The real concern is that you could damage your memory if you have static electricity built up on your person. To get rid of static, simply touch something metal before you open the computer up.

  • i've alwas wonderd this what does the "CMOS" batery do, what does it power?

  • It keeps the clock running when your computer is turned off.

  • oh ok that makes sence!! thanks!!

  • hey, do you have to buy a specific RAM stick to fit in your ram slot or can it be any RAM stick ?

  • you have to buy SPECIFIC ram stick you CAN NOT! run a DDR stick in a DDR2 or DDR3 motherboard

  • You actually CAN run a DDR1-333 Stick on a board that SUPPORTS DDR2 or DDR3!

You also can use a DDR2-1066 Stick on a board that only supports DDR2-800. The RAM is downgradable

  • question .. I ordered a couple of products from you guys wednesday 26th .. i paided for express 2 day shipping one.. 13.95 i beleive and its friday afternoon and i click my tracking numbers in and it says it will be shipped shortly its been like that since yesterday shouldnt it had been sent already .. sorry to bother i just dont get it

  • i just bought two of the same memory drives from you guys just about 2 hours ago.. now could i install both of them on my comp or did i just buy an extra one for no reason ... it says my comp has two slots

  • Depends on the type of model you have. Most recent models do have at least two slots. The best way to tell is to open your computer and check it out. You can of course feel free to call us at our support line on our website and we'll be glad to help you.

  • thanx alot for taking your time .. well wen i check it out online it tells me my model emachines t1840 model has two slots and in other sites it said as well but i chose to buy from you guys it just felt safer thanx again

  • can i use all 4 of my ram slot i have 2 blue and 2 black can i put 1gb in all 4 slot

  • Yes, most definitely. The reason two are a different color is in case you get two of one size and two of another. For instance, if you bought two 1GB and 2 512MB sticks, you'd want to put the 512s in one color and the 1GBs in the other. Hope that helps!

  • yes it did and ty u and ty youtube!!!!!!!!!!

  • Best tutorial on here, nice.

  • cool

  • can u put 2 memory in the pc?

  • It depends on how many open memory slots you have available. Most computers have at least two memory slots, and some have four.

  • sometimes u can replace the motherboard to get more graphics and more powerful memory

  • what u said outbreakguy is a nonsense... u don't get good graphics just by buyin' a new motherboard! it will always be integrated graphis wich SUCKS!

  • no but that u can use two strong grapics and combind them into three. three screens and a pwerful computer

  • sorry for emailing you again lol i was just wondering if you could help me im just trying to figure out if ram will work with my system. as long as it says ddr2 533 or dual channel ddr2 667 and 800 mhz as my manual says will it work with my mother board?

does memory cas latency and the fact it says pc4200,pc5600,pc3200 etc. effect compatibility with a mother board?

need help because there is a deal on ram today only lol and i want to jump on it thanks alot

  • Your best bet is to contact either your manufacturer or who you're buying memory from to discover what kind of memory will be compatible. Also, many sites, such as ours are able to scan your computer and tell you what upgrades are recommended.

  • found the mother board on the site, now when i scroll down it system information then pc5400 and etc thats the memory modules that i can use with the board? i cat check my system because im trying to switch mother boards to run an 8800 i currently have agp lastly is there any difference between ddr2 and ddr2 sdram? or are they both the same thing and both work with ddr2 mother boards??

  • is it beacause i have the 512mb with the 1g mix and it runs as a 512mb still?

  • It really depends on several factors, but if your computer is running very slow, you might want to check to see if you have spyware or a virus that is sucking up your CPU.

  • i have just installed a 1g ram into my cpu a couple of days ago and checked thats installed by view system info. But when i open programs etc seems pretty much the same speed? shouldnt it be alot faster?

  • how do you know which way to put the ram in the motherboard?

  • The gold teeth always go into the slot. There should also be a notch on the memory to prevent you from putting it in the wrong way. Just look for the corresponding place in the slot.

  • excellent camera view. provides clear identification of computer parts. great video!

  • What is the difference between pin numbers on memory cards? And can you use 2 sets of different pins on one motherboard?

  • Typically you can not use 2 different pin types on a motherboard. There are a few motherboards that accept different types of memory but you can not use both types at one time. Example: If your motherboard has 2 memory sockets that accept SDRAM and 2 that accept DDR memory you can only use one or the other at one time, not both. I hope that answers your questions.

  • Is there a standard pin count difference between laptops and desktops?

  • Yes. But it varies on the different type of memory as well. For instance, DDR2 laptop memory will have a different pin count than SDRAM laptop memory. But as a rule, desktop memory has more pins than laptop memory.

  • thank you

  • thanks to u...............

  • ty thx alot m8 i gd vid im givin u 5 stars

  • it's kinda complicated though..

  • lol i never unplug anything u just push all the unused cords from my PSU out of the way and pop it in
