  • KORN - word up

  • Microsoft is like meat industry: they both sell people their crappy products and people buy them because they're used to them. Also, both Microsoft and meat industry make up false propaganda about something they fear (in case of Microsoft it's Linux, while in case of meat industry it's vegan diet). But this propaganda is useless against people who see a difference between "more popular" and "better".

  • noob

  • Windows > Linux > Mac

  • LiEnucks is a piece of shit garbage.

  • Im not going to get into this little war that you are having here. All I will say is, i am a Linux user and loving it. It can be fully customized to fit you needs, cant find a program to do what you want, write one. On that note, Linux is not for basic PC users nor the PC novice. Its for people who want more out of their PC. Also, side not, This Windows you talk so highly about, actually stole its Graphical User Interface from Macintosh in the 70s and mac bought it off Xerox a short time before.

  • I prefer Windows.

  • @Cotif11 If you keep your software up to date, then you're pretty safe on linux.

And its not like its hard to keep stuff up to date on linux, one command and its done.

  • Linux is a piece of crap that copied Microsoft and Apple. There's a reason Linux is only 0.5% of the computer industry. PS guys: Linux stole Apple's desktop layout with Ubuntu

  • @Cotif11 Yeah it has 0.5% of MARKET SHARE! Since most linux distros are free, it is irrelevant to compare the computer industry since it's solely based off of market share. And linux stole apple's desktop layout? The only similarity I see in the desktop is the Unity interface, which is a lot different than the dock. Linux is in a whole different ball park compared to Microshaft and Apple.

  • @EatenSniperGuy oh yes, definitely. Free share ware is just the best way to go. Also have you seen Ubuntu's desktop? It has three circles in the top left corner just like Mac, and the symbols inside are: _ [] X just like Apple. And you're right, Linux is in a whole different ball park than Apple or Microsoft. See, Microsoft and Apple are in the Major Leagues, actually making money off of quality. Linux is in the minor league pretending that they'll get high in the ranks

  • @Cotif11 While the symbols are the same, it's not aqua like the mac. You can make windows do the same thing if you wanted to. Hell, you can make Ubuntu look exactly like mac or windows. But that's not ubuntu's fault. And just because the symbols look similar, doesn't mean the os is exactly. You know that mac app store? Well, ubuntu had that first. It was just called a software center. And ubuntu is a quality product. It CAN game (there are quality games just like halo and call of duty),

  • @EatenSniperGuy oh really? Halo? The Halo that, when it is sold on computers is only on Windows? Think, since Microsoft owns rights to Halo, and Bungie, why would they make it for a different system? Nice try making shit up. And you are saying Firefox crashed on you? Firefox is a browser, Google Chrome has crashed on me many a time, but never Internet Explorer. And Linux DOES have viruses, every OS has viruses, and Windows only has more than Mac and Linux because it's more widespread

  • @Cotif11 I said their are games for linux LIKE Halo. I didn't say halo does. And prove to me that linux does have viruses. The reason linux doesn't have viruses is because of more people using windows and programs. Linux doesn't use the same kind of java windows uses (linux uses OpenJDK and Windows uses Oracle Java). And linux doesn't use Adobe Reader by default. And Internet Explorer always crashed on me (I never used version 9 or 10. Just 8 and below).

  • @EatenSniperGuy exactly, see how many more programs, that are more advanced, can play on Windows and not. And I'll PM you two URL's, both showing, there ARE viruses on Linux, and that the CAN get viruses

  • @Cotif11 It comes with a free office suite, and guess what? NO MALWARE AT ALL! Macs do get malware like trojans and rouges. Do me a favor. Download Virtualbox (works with both Mac and PC), download Ubuntu, and try it out. If you don't like it, then try others out like Linux Mint or Fedora. Oh and BTW, ever since I switched to Linux, I have never had it even crash on me. When I was using windows, it was a normal thing to have things like Firefox crash on me.

  • Firefox > Linux

    Nuff' said

  • song please?

  • @macheads202 camio - word up

  • and linux is great for games when game developers actually make games for it

  • By the way, visual effects don't make a movie. Visual effects are absolutely NOT what makes an OS. Just thought you should know.

  • Yea its such a good system does it have system restore or factory restore, even mac has time machine. Linux add one bad driver, oops you have to reinstall the whole OS all over again. Best security it says, like using the same password will stop anybody.lol Once u figired the entry password u r in. That means lil kids can tamper with it. What abuntu u hoped little bros, or sis get tired of entering it.lol

  • Did you Linux fanboys know, that Linux is made in Windows? Linux suck even more than Mac.

  • Really I think Windows is awesome.

  • @linuxsucks98 Slow down your computer? My toaster could run linux.

  • @linuxsucks98 barely anyone uses? man you don't know a goddamn thing about linux. special effects? you mean compiz fusion? by saying compiz slows down computers I'm guessing you've tried linux and were stupid to know how to use it and if you said it slows down computers I'm guessing yours was built in 1996.

  • @linuxsucks98 You're so stupid it's not even worth my time. Actually use Linux for more than 10 seconds and you'll know more. thanks.

  • @linuxsucks98 What the fuck is wrong with you? Brainwashed by extremists?

  • @antonspi what, the dock? Linux has the same thing, in fact, a better and more customizable one with special effects and all :p

  • Definitely not at it's full potential, not at all lol. Imo, I'm okay with KDE, but just the normal ubuntu has more potential. Besides, if theres something you like in kubuntu, like the "start" menu and whatnot, of course you can get it in ubuntu :p

And by potential, I mean, if you think this looks better than windows, then I just might have to put mine on YouTube lol

  • the only reason i have a mac cause i like the interface

  • I've upgraged Windows for more stability, but I have found each newer version MORE un-stable. Blue sceen EVERY F...ING DAY! Next OS not be MS -loyalty only goes so far! (I'm using W7 on a 6 core processor - top shelf)

My record is 10 'blue sceens' in one day!

  • @PacificCircle1

If you are getting the BSOD 10 times in a day you are probably having a hardware issue, like a bad video card.

I am sad to say it isn't completely Microsoft's fault this time.

Don't get me wrong though, I hate Microsoft.

  • @myskillzownu GOOD call - my events to seem to be video related. Unlike earlier MS OS, detectve work on W7 is to difficult for me. Not a tech wiz nor average joe.

  • @PacificCircle1

That could very well be it then. I built my own computer and I had the same issue. Companies seem to be using worse and worse parts for their products, and we are paying for it.

They really did make things a lot more ...concealed in Windows 7.

If you need any help you can email me @ myskillzownu [at] gmail [dot] com

  • @myskillzownu I have had some lingering doubts after i built mine - wondered if I was diong it right !

Yeah, MS isn't responsible for all, but they can take more care with associated partners and producers.

  • I've upgraged Windows for more stability, but I have found each newer version MORE un-stable. Blue sceen EVERY F...ING DAY! Next OS not be MS -loyalty only goes so far! (I'm using W7 on a 6 core processor - top shelf)

  • Fuck linux

  • @clubpenguin235 you are too young to really know what linux is considering your name is clubpenguin.

  • @DemCheggs I hate club penguin, I made this account when I liked

  • well, windows is best with games and that's all i need. gamemaking is a requirement too.

  • @Jaws2blood1 yeah i use windows alot for games as well :)

  • this should actually be called "KDE and compiz is better than the windows GUI" if you were gonna show us that linux is better than windows (DOS) you would have to go more into things like speed, security, if the kernels are lightweight or not.

But i prefer linux over dos

and Ubuntu (and linux mint) over Windows

  • Micro$haft Winblow$ sucks.

  • lol, my window manager makes fire, so Linux is obviously better than Windows. xD

    People are fucking retarded.

  • compiz is awesome

  • compiz on kde

  • Comment removed

  • Ironic,

I mean the package says " we suck more" yet its the penguin actually sucking it.

Its just a really bad joke XD.

the more you know the better, shunning one product is retarded.

  • Whoa, whoa, whoa!!!! My Windows work fine. I clean them regularly. I maintain the tracks so they open smooth first time every time. I love Windows. They let the sunshine in...and my Windows are very secure. I have safety locks on them that I installed myself!

  • @mykylc lol yeah. People keep bringing up these errors from Windows that probably been fixed long ago just that they have outdated windows. I have Vista & I never had blue screen.

  • linsex epic fails

  • Linux is better than Faildows for everything except games, unfortunately

  • @ionutiortoman

Only if you can get linux drivers for hardware.

  • @ionutiortoman openarena and alot of indies are for linux though. and there really cool :)

  • @ionutiortoman Yea.

  • @ionutiortoman Let's not be so specific. Games is just software, after all, so to generalize what you said:

"Linux is better than Faildows for everything except real software, unfortunately."

Yes, Windows sucks, but Linux doesn't help most people when it can't run any commercial software.

Either case, only real consumer OS out there is OS X, but it's unfortunately bound to Apple's garbage computers.

  • @ionutiortoman linux + wine solves that problem or by a ps3 and give microsoft the finger in doing so

  • @Iamthelaw1526 Never intended to offend you :-)

  • @Iamthelaw1526 Thanks Captain Obvious. You obviously don't even know that I might actually have experience with linux.

  • geez, you can uninstall the eye candy if you like. and I can do CAD, video editing, audio editing, etc. on linux.

honestly, after a fresh install (no particular reason), I didn't miss the eye candy

  • Seriously, all Linux does is have pointless fucking effects. What does Linux do that Windows doesn't?

  • @TheDisturbedOne752 Well for one thing sure is that it is far more secure, stable, and can finish CPU Heavy tasks much quicker. It is also a superior server OS.

Plus Eye candy never hurt anyone. I find myself fiddling with these a day or two in a week...

  • @TheDisturbedOne752

Lets put it another way, What can Windows do, that Linux cant?

Get infected with a virus, is the top one.

A windows Licence costs hundreds of dollars, Linux is free.

  • @TheDisturbedOne752 Desktop effects are optional. Essentially, about everything is optional, even the desktop itself.

  • Registry cleaners - crashing - fighting thousands of virus's - bye bye windoze

  • well win users here's a lot of eyecandy who sad Linux has none eyecandy stuff???

when it comes to gaming if you know doom 3 it can be played on linux ;)

windows version installation with scripts can be linux installation

and if you're good programmer enough you may make other games work on linux too without wine (emulator - for win users)

  • @psihokiller4 Who gives a shit about eye candy? In a computer I look for productivity, what it can do, and how fast it can do it.

  • @psihokiller4 to make a windows game work in Linux would take forever for one programmer no matter how good he or she is. One game could be millions and millions of line of code. I have no idea how to get it to work on wine though. I think Linux can do anything windows can do minus the restriction. I use Linux for the freedom. I don't know if Windows is better then Llinux performance wise. we would have to compare specific windows and distros for that.

  • @psihokiller4 I heard Windows 7 is better, but I don't expect Linux to be better it is free. When Linux is better at something then windows or mac I am amazed. I personal feel Os stuff is just about personal preference and taste. I rather become a programmer and make my own games then be locked in because of stupid DRMS from EA and ect. Some windows games say you must be on line etc play single player games. it like saying I am a house slave,so I am better then the field slave.

  • @psihokiller4 therefor for me, Linux is freedom and Freedom is better then slavery that equals Mac or windows. I like Mac and Windows, but this is the truth.

  • Indeed, linux is better than Windows.

  • Linux is for shit pc's really (NOT SAYING LINUX IS SHIT GUYS) what i mean is that linux is quite powerful and makes old pc good to go. I dont like windows better then linux nor do i like linux better then windows. They are both have some really good operating systems.

  • So all linux can do is cool effects? I was hoping to like linux but apparently it sucks more than i thought. Can you do any ACTUAL work on it suck as iWork or microsoft office? And I know it cant do any games.... Seems like it REALLY sucks even more than windows

  • @rozziguy7 Well there's wine, but, that doesn't always work the best for some people. Then there's Open Office, but it's not as good a MS Office. I can do games natively, but not the majority of games. Switching to Linux from what ever OS your using just because of a videos showing Compiz isn't the brightest idea.

  • Comment removed

  • yea i would like to get new os but i have like 20 games made for windows i wish there was a computer that could run all my games and has really good preformance

  • 23 people only use microsoft hardware/software so they don't have problems with windows

  • I use Linux every day, but I can't use it with the special effects, I like a nice simple WindowMaker desktop with nothing flying to and fro.

I've used Linux, BSD, Windows, Mac and some other obscure things and while BSD is good, its not good on the desktop. I much prefer Linux to anything else.

This "war" between computer OS's is stupid nonsense fought by basement dwelling virgins while they aren't looking at porn.

Use what works for you and be happy, god damn it!

  • @thedarkone2134 Greatest comment ever! Worth repeating!

"This 'war' between computer OS's is stupid nonsense fought by basement dwelling virgins while they aren't looking at porn."

BTW: I hate ALL computer programming. Did well in formal education only in C++ and FORTRAN, but never used it outside the classroom. Can NEVER remember a single command.

I'm MUCH more into handwritten mathematical proofs. I use a computer just to get by (email, porn, YT).

  • @gabzee78 To be honest i don't care too much of your opinion, if i wanted it ,i would of asked.

  • This is really just a graphical "presentation" and Linux is just a kernel (a way better kernel than DOS Windows as i've been told) and there is so many distros with diffrent graphical user interfaces than KDE (if that's what you'r using) but over all Linux is way better but i don't Think its better than Mac Os x but still a very good system (kernel)

  • If Linux own Windows than why has Micro$oft like 90% marketshare ?

  • Because M$ uses marketing techniques such as paying PC companies like HP to pre-install Windows on their machines before selling them.

  • @cr561979 Why the fuck is it always about money?? Software is not all about money. Linux was created to be free (free as in beer, not price). Need a fix for a problem in Windows? Sure you can search it up but if its kernel related, then you have to wait for M$ to come along and fix it up.

  • @DimaAndDarnell

Right, the Linux kernel is more stable because its Unix'ish while the NT kernel was fucked up by it's birth and it would be cheaper to write a new one then fixing it.But Microshit will always rule because they can afford to stuff every single company on the planet.Google it up yourself why Asus has put it's (Linux) Instant boot technology on a freeze a couple years ago.Because they received a visit from Redmond ! Needles to mention, Novell received 250 Million from M$.

  • @cr561979 I know about the 5second boot up, me myself I have the P5Q Pro Turbo which has Express Gate (aka linux bios). Also the kernel, can be modified by ANYONE (hence opensource). Thats why ANYONE can make a fix, where as Windows is locked up (booo). Microsoft has most of the marketshare because they SELL their products (even though some linux distros are for sale. like redhat), plus there are TONS of laptops and desktops that come PREINSTALLED with Windows.

  • @DimaAndDarnell

Yep anyone can contribute to the kernel the same way anyone can find a cure for Alzheimer given he has a university degree in medical sciences.Don't get me wrong i use Linux myself but it's far 2 complicated 4 the avg. user. There's a reason why people prefer to pay 4 M$ or OSX, it's because your mom won't know how 2 edit "fstab" in order 2 mount a partition.

  • *Lunix users never have to reboot. ACPI problems prevent that...use the power-strip after a crash or shutdown.

*Lunix users get laid about as often as they have to reboot. And if they do reboot they will fall short before the actual action is carried out.

*Most lunix users secretly use Windows.

*When you use Lunix, you will become so frustrated that you will constantly fight with windows, mac, and even other lunix users.

*Lunix is "Free as in crap." You get what you paid for -- nothing.

  • @gabzee78 Linux is glad to not to have you as one of its users. You clearly have no idea, stop spitting crap, enjoy your bloated software and bluescreens. loL owned bitch, need some ice?

  • Every operating system has its advantages and flaws, i believe you should use what you feel comfortable with. But seriously, i have been using Linux for a while now and i am glad i made the switch to it. All the software is free, plus if you need a windows appliation, use virtualbox or wine. All the windows software i had i have alternatives to them, i find free = better.

    loL peace.

  • i like windows and linux i just dont see the point of having comparisons they both own. point is mac sucks LINUX AND WINDOWS SHOULD JOIN!!!!

  • Linux is the best. Windows Blows Big Monkey Balls

  • @Wwefanpage101 BOOO both r awsome idiot

  • @Wwefanpage101 how bout osx bitch!!!!!!!!!! MAC WINS

  • @thesuperBIGCHEEZ Mac sucks.

  • @gabzee78

Linux is for smart people, go back to your blue screen of death you call windows.

  • @gabzee78 thats more like windows ya dumb bitch,

  • Linux rocks

  • how did you get those flames to appear when you open and close stuff ??

  • @xleo21

You're almost as far from wrong as you could be. First is firefox, then ie8, ie7, ie6, chrome, and then safari... don't believe me? Type in w3schools browser statistics on google, it won't let me leave a link for some reason.

  • its like somebody drawed this is OS xDDDDD

  • @iron888888 Spelling Fail

  • Windows- Ownz

    Linux- Suckz Major DICK

  • @HDVIDEOREVIEWS

Please explain to me what makes Windows better, I have a feeling you actually have no clue what you're talking about..

  • Your a moron for downloading this crap

  • @murderslastcrow LOL exes, I want to compile exes, but Linux can't compile exes. And don't tell me to get virtual pc and run windows off of linux that would be slow than just having windows alone.

  • @murderslastcrow

Yes I didn't take what you said into a lot of consideration about IBM and Google and everything else. I'm so familiar with Gnome and Linux I tend to relate open source to that.

I was just pretty fired up from what kossrifle had been saying. He was arguing but then later contradicting himself and didn't seem to sensible to me. It was just pissing me off. You bring a good point though.

  • wow what a purrty distro , going to dl it now!

  • only realy ppl wont use linux is they are stupid.. realy how hard it is to find proper drivers and compile crap. there is even guides online for linux they are easy as hell to understand, if you cant figure it out turn off your shitty win system and go find a bus to stand in front of.

  • Gentoo Luv!!!

  • While Compiz is really fun to use, it is hardly a reason to switch operating systems. It is merely aesthetic. Functionality is the greater factor of importance. To that end, that is where GNU/Linux shines.

For multi-tasking, Compiz is the far more efficient window manager, than Microsoft's own Desktop Window Manager. Aero Peek, Shake, Snap and Window Flip all pare compared to Spaces and the Cube. Sadly, folks don't really consider that. They just love the pretty effects of Compiz.

  • Did you all know that 95% user of computers are using WINDOWS!!

  • @FBIslo

    agree

  • @Kossrifle - Yeah Linux sucks and Windows is the best.

  • linux

    is complicated!

  • Looks nice what distro is that ? I have ubuntu 9.10 but i cant use it that much because my favourite game does not work with winehq but im still trying. Did a fresh install today

  • @TheRealdpb95

    Gentoo.

  • Yes, run all those useless visual effects.

What do you have in the end?

An os that can't run exes, can't run hardware like mouses, keyboards, sounds.

  • @Kossrifle

Hey retard, how bout you only run your mouth about what you know about. I use a Microsoft Bluetooth mouse, it was a gift, I did not pick to buy the monopolistic brand, I've never had a single problem. I use an apple keyboard, purely awesome, never had any problems. Sound always works.

Linux doesn't need .exes, they have better programs that are .debs, .tar.gzs. .rpms, so shut up and try to know what you talk about, cus little windows noobs don't know shit aobut LInux.

  • Lol I run wubi-linux myself.

Since windows owns 90% of market shares every piece of software (games, music), hardware (mouse, keyboard, webcam) comes out for the pc.

On the other hand linux or mac may not get some of that.

BTW the mac mouse and keyboard works with the pc (windows).

  • Mac and Microsoft hardware run with Linux too... I'm using a Microsoft Bluetooth Mouse and Apple keyboard both running flawlessly. My webcam intended for Linux worked without any type of tweaking. And not every piece of software is made just for windows lol... and music isn't targeted toward a specific OS. Linux runs more variations of media files then Windows.

  • Linux runs linux based files, not windows (unless you use wine)

People who want to share their hardware will make it for the top os.

You're selling a mouse, you would odv make it for windows so more people will buy it right?

  • I don't think you understand you don't really have to gear things toward an OS for them to work on it... I'm using a Microsoft Bluetooth mouse and Apple Keyboard because Linux supports them...

  • Yeah but more this come out only for windows, and more things are for windows than other any operating systems.

If linux were 90% I would only use linux based hardware. Go with the flow, there are more programmers for windows so the realization is that windows will have more stuff for it. More stuff = better exp.

    :)

  • I'm just going to use the better of the two operating systems (linux). The support for it is better. Also hardware is not microsoft based, microsoft hardware works on Linux as does Apple. And you assume Windows has more stuff, alright given they have a million IM clients and Email Clients, luckily I only need one. And everything is free on Linux.

Overall Linux better. I don't go with the flow, I go with what's better.

  • Okay, you're not using it for gaming or programming. Just for the internet, or server hosting.

I chose windows because it runs most of the popular games (exe). I don't want to use wine, if you use wine it's the same as using windows. For programming I can't test out any apps. (exe) So if you don't want to be current with all the new things that come out every year then that's fine. I though most people like new things, but I guess I was wrong.

  • I use Linux for programming and everyday stuff. Linux is more current than windows, it updates way more. I have more productive things to do then sit around on games, the ones I do play on occasions I use WINE for. Your wrong about WINE it isn't just like being on windows it is more reliable because it is not running on windows, plus it runs better, yes something tricking a program makes it run better because linux is better.

Don't make assumptions because you clearly have no clue.

  • Okay so Linux is this FREE os better in every way (protection, game, compatibility, portability, speed) then windows?

Bullshit, you pay what you get for. Explain why windows still has 90%.

Linux came out before windows, Linux had 60-70% then when Windows came in it dropped to 20-30 then 1-2.

And if you run wine it runs just as much ram as it were to run a normal program on windows.

Windows is recent to the world, not to itself.

  • I didn't say Linux was better in every way just most of them. Plus, Linux is recent, so I don't even know where your getting that load of crap. But for your examples above Linux is better in protection, game, portability, and speed.

You do not get what you pay for, you're just paying for an over-priced monopolistic operating system while I'm using a free community based system which is still updated more because the people behind it love what they do.

  • and no RAM is better utilized on Linux so your wrong, again.

Windows maybe recent to the world... but guess what, so is Linux dumb shit.

  • LOL by recent I mean most people using it such as running an exe.

You haven't answered my question, suppose there were this no problem os, fastest, and could run every ext. (exe, docx, txt)

Then why is it that before windows linux were 90-95 % users, then it dropped when windows came in? (windows 90%, linux 1-2%)

Explain, linux had many users, then when windows came it, linux dropped, and it stood that way for 20 years now.

  • Recent has nothing to do with running exes or most people using it so your an idiot for that one...

And Windows is 90% while Linux is around 4% because Windows took IBM's DOS and made it MSDOS which was good, then they made the operating system windows which was the best operating system at the time, through all the monopoly and familiarness everyone started using that and now they don't have a

  • Choice on what OS they use because of the monopoly windows has going.

Therefore if Linux was offered along side windows on every site.... Windows wouldn't have the upper hand for long.

    Answer your questions? Dumb ass.

  • @h1ll37

That's not a reason why linux was 90% then dropped.

  • because windows had a better product at the time is the answer... like i said. Idiot

  • right, right, next you're going to tell me windows had a better product than mac at the time.

Windows wins because of simple applications that linux and mac tried to copy but failed.

Simple ones like wordpad, notepad, paint, config settings, ease of access, and many others. And the fact that exe are most popular, (even if you can use wine, it should come preinstalled, because people don't wan to install it.)

It's compatibility, not speed, not visuals, how many people use it.

  • At the time, those programs were better. Now they are worse than the others avaible, the only reason windows is still on top is because of the monopoly that Microsoft has set up. And Microsoft copies from mac and linux too, everyone borrows ideas so don't turn it around like mac and linux are thieves and your precious winblows isn't.

The only reason windows still remains on top is because of Monopoly. Linux (and mac) are better, end of story.

    You clearly don't know much...

  • @h1ll37 Yes I am a user, do I care if an os copies? I'm just using my computer, browsing, playing games, chilling, do I give a damn if they copied? Oh! Look windows copied the clock from linux, oh they copied the search box from mac (windows vista). LOL if now windows sucks, shouldn't everyone be going back to their mac and linux? Everything's going to improve, sticking with a big corp. means that I'll have a better chance of getting a better os. Mac is great because you PAY for it.

  • @h1ll37 There is no fund for linux.

  • @Kossrifle Novell and Canonical are the sponsors for Linux. You are wrong, again, there are funds.

Secondly, you are the one who brought up copying then you freak out because windows copies and you tried using it against Linux and Mac.

Lastly, The reason Linux and Mac are the minority, for the umpteenth time, is because Microsoft is a Monopoly and people have no other choice unless they are specifically looking for that.

    Learn to listen idiot.

  • @h1ll37

I don't care if an os copies, I'm a user I just want to use the computer.

Sponsors, there are no legit programmers for linux.

I like monopoly. You're saying Microsoft got there by lies? It's been 20 years since linux and windows are together. Don't you think everyone would switch back the linux?

  • @Kossrifle Well earlier you tried to use copying against linux and mac, now your for it... your contradicting yourself.

Legit Programmers? The programmers for Linux, almost every single one, have careers in programming... they are legit programmers.... retard.

And no, I don't know how many times I have to say the reason that Linux isn't higher in the stats is because it is rather hard to find the exact computer you want preinstalled with Linux.

Like everything you've said has been wrong.....

  • There are free Linux disks given out, if Linux is the best os then more people should be using it.

It's probably not that's why their only used for servers.

  • Free Linux Discs are given out if you know where to go to request them.

Linux is not just used as a server it is also used as a.... wait for it.... desktop.... idiot.

You've been wrong on a good number of your arguments and the rest of them were just idiotic. Your a total idiot.

  • One life value.

You get what you pay for. There is nothing free, there is no one that is so generous.

Unless you think everything is so simple then look at google.

  • You do get what you pay for... in materials.... but this is software... whole different world.

Firefox is the most used internet browser, it's free, so why am i getting what i paid for? it's the best.

You only get what you pay for if it took real cash to make it. If it took a developers time of doing what he wanted, you can get awesome things free.

You've lost every argument so far... get your facts straight you tard.

  • -.- Browsers come with operating systems, and Firefox is free, because they want you to get sucked into their products thinking their fast you you'll buy other products. (I use firefox)

Almost everything that came out open-source isn't as good as the products that came out with money, and hard time. :)

  • Firefox is open source.

And maybe your right that most open source things don't come out as good as things with money behind them, but in the case of Linux it is better than Windows and Mac, and they have money behind them.

Linux has the strongest community to develop, promote, etc.

Windows is a poorly made Operating System that has only made it to where it is because of Monopoly.

  • Mac is better than Linux, they use the same unix-based interface.

LOL just say Microsoft has better marketing share ideas then linux or mac.

Windows may suck but the person who brought it out had some good marketing plans to beats all the other operating systems. Schools receive windows for free. Then when students grad they use windows because that's what they used first.

I program, so I stick with windows because I test my programs on the most used os so when I release more people can use it.

  • I don't think Mac is better than Linux, but the entire time i have been saying what you said about freaking windows and what it does... holy shit you're dumb to fight me on that the whole time now say it.

I can't even imagine the half-wit programs your produce.

  • @h1ll37 yea, firefox is far superior to internet explorer. as far as OS's go without the issue of driver issues or compatibility , my ranking for overall best systems are linux (free), mac os 10.6 ($30), and lastly windows going for around $100 for the upgrade and easily $200 for a clean install. i personally like macs as well because they have run great and are laid out in a straight forward way without a bunch of crapware.

  • @mycrimsonregrets

As far as the way it handles things... anything is better than internet explorer... anything.

    But yeah I use Linux.

  • @h1ll37

firefox isnt the most used internet browser

    IE 6 is....yeah i know , its sad

  • Actually Krossrifle... I think you should give Linux Mint or Ubuntu a shot. Linux is only inferior to windows when it comes to gaming. (byproduct of marketshare). But its better for most other tasks. I just switched from windows 7 to Ubuntu. :)

  • I have, I downloaded Ubuntu, and found it incompatible.

    1. It may use wine but it doesn't run the exe as well as windows.

    2. Some drivers are used only with windows.

    3. I need to do banking on a computer, Linux is NOT virus free. The reason it's fast it because it doesn't block anything.

    4. Programming, Linux can't making exes. Even with an emu. If it did I wouldn't know if it worked for windows.

    5. Gaming, Windows can run all the games released for 07, 08, 09, 10. Not all for Linux.

  • @Kossrifle

WINE doesn't run all things your correct. It runs a lot of games rather well (Call of Duty 4) things like that, but it's probably best to use WINE for things Linux doesn't have an alternative for.

If you tell me what your trying to use in WINE i could probably help with alternatives?

  • @Kossrifle

Well you can run things that use directx inside WINE. Look up winetricks you can install direct x inside WINE using that.

As for programming you could make the programs for all of the operating systems? I'd like to be a programmer and as of now I only know PHP (and html and css of course), but I'm only 15 plenty of time to learn ;P

I plan when i start developing to make programs for all operating systems, but I don't know much about compiling exes so idk what to say there.

  • @h1ll37 I mainly make offline programs, so there isn't a program extension for both windows and Linux, and since Linux can run exes, and windows can't run rpm, or dmg, I have decided to program for exes.

Linux is great for some games, movie editing, visuals, and is faster overall.

Windows is better because of MMS (majority market share advantage) but slower because it uses exe (exe have more and are slower), Still it's good to use Linux as my second os.

I tried chome os and it was amazing.

  • @Kossrifle

Ahh i see. where did you get a hold of Chrome OS? I've been wanting to try it.

But I see the problem. I didn't realize you couldn't compile .exe's in Linux.

  • @h1ll37 They released a beta on their website, it's tar.gz but I used Linux to compile it to img, then used win32 img burner to my usb.

I couldn't compile img in windows but, I could in Linux, there is thing in windows can you do, and since most people don't program Linux is pretty good. Still MMS (majority market share) advantage still prevails.

  • @Kossrifle

I'll have to check it out thanks. And yeah I see your point. I'm enough of a Linux fan I'll be making programs just for Linux, unless hired to do other wise, which will be the way it is I'm sure.

So you can not compile a .exe in Linux?

  • @h1ll37 Linux is pretty good, but when people make you over estimate it, and when you do use it, it's not as good as you think. Linux is not the best for games, and windows is only good because of MMS advantage, seriously, if Linux was 90% I would use it...no problem.

  • @Kossrifle

It isn't that Linux isn't good for games, it's that the games don't support Linux, when they do, fully, Linux runs them like a champ. but Yes i see where you come from.
