why is nage clashing elbows. . The way i was taught was there should be absolutely no clashing or blocking. only deflecting and evading. while doing the iriminage or any other technique

Shomen uchi irimi.
With all due respect - if you go for the underarm - you open for a contra-attack from the elbow of uke.
Please try go go first for the underarm - stopping uke before attack ever appear.
Then mowing the hand of uke.
Just stop fighting mind - no attack will appear - ,0)
