I just wanted wanted to extend my condolences to you, and everyone who knows the pain this brings. My mother is alive, well, and a wonderful woman. However, until they passed away, my parents had me stay with my grandparents because they were working insane hours with my mom a police officer and my dad working machines at a cancer research institute. But my grandmother suffered and looked to my mum saying "whose little girl are you?". It broke my heart to see it. I wanted to say thank you.
Hey,it´s not really your own guilt when that was your opinion. The most people do not know anything about illnesses by the others, till the moment when their own asses are in danger. I don´t know why. Perhaps it´s the lack of interest, ignorance, maybe the belief in a fallacious invincibility? I guess some people make fun about illnesses, because they are not smart enough. That´s all! By the way: my granny has Alzheimer's in an advanced stage, but we try to be happy, as good as possible.
Thanks for this. My darling is lying in the other room dying of AD. She cannot eat. She cries a lot. So do I. She is only 58. She needs to move on to Paradise. i will see her there.
What a wonderful video and such a shame, it is an awful illness that is evil, it can take some of the qualities of a person away. I hope everything is going well sambi1968.
If I ever get this disease, within 3 months I would spend time with my family, do things I never got to do & live tha life! And when I get to do all those things, I will kill myself.
I don't want to be remembered as "the guy who lost his memory & had people take care of him like a baby".
@Alien8990 if "people" love you, they wouldn't see it as taking care of a baby...sure it would be difficult (i am 21 and my mom has dementia) ...but love overtakes your emotions and you learn to value every bit of life someone
I was driving through Killarney today and hear Josef Locke singing this song on the radio and decided to look it up on the net and stumbled on this. It's a beautiful and moving song and is a great tribute of your love for your Mum in expressing it this way. She will live on in you. Thank you for sharing.
I was going to try to make a sensible comment , but the tears have overtaken me ......I went through the same with my mum .... it's so hard to watch someone you love fade away ... we suffer more than they do ... Keep going ,.. and do the best you can for your mum.
Thank you for posting. My mum has it too and my heart is so broken. She is my world. I have a brother who doesn't help with her, it's my dad and I who take care of her. I often thought that I'd like to buy a video camera and tape her but it hurts so much. I wish I had bought one before she got ill so I could remember her like that. I don't want to remember her so helpless and fragile. I've been online looking for help and your video was good. Thanks
@thetruenearnear ..I'm sorry to hear about your mum and my heart goes out to both of you. I know what you're saying regarding wishing having taken videos earlier, me too. All I can say is that you're not alone in this...there is help out there and if ever you need an ear to bash then please feel free..x
I actually just finished a research paper of this disease for my Psychology class. I knew almost nothing about this before starting it, but now I know a little more about it. It is much more sadder to see in person though.
Thanks Sambi1968 for posting such a moving video. I am a psychology student who is looking into alzheimer's disease for exam but until I saw this video and others like it I hadn't fully appreciated the extend to which Alzheimer can impact and devastate peoples lives, both the sufferers and their family. Thanks for sharing something obviously painful. It's educational value is immeasurable.
@enchanted1977 - You're welcome...I know some people don't like to see this but I wanted others to see exactly what Alzheimer's is all about..my mum is still alive and I'm going to take some more video's to show how she is a year down the line..thanks for your comments though, and I'm glad they've helped.
Theres been a lot of turmoil in my family the past two years, not least my grandmother dying from cancer she developed. I lived with my granparents all my life, they basically raised me. In the end I was taking care of her, and it was hard.
The video reminded me a lot of her. When her mind and everything started going, it sucked a lot. People really need to find better ways to work with really terrible diseases like these. : (
Check, i got to ur video cuz iam studing medicine here in colombia, and I "love" neurologism, someday i will be one, and my first job will try to make a better life for the patients with Alzheimer diseise
You and your mom are such a nice people, i dont know if it will offend u, but what is the purpuse of posting the video? i think u should keep it to yourself and not showing how ur mon is getting weaker and weaker.
Hiya ... No offense taken and yes I know what you mean about keeping it private but I posted the video to show others what Alzheimer's is all about. When my mum was diagnosed, we were not told what to expect so therefore didn't realise what we as a family were to face. Until it was too late for us, did we know the full extent of the disease....this video and my other vidoes are to show others just some things what they can expect if they or a family member is diagnosed. Thanks
@sambi1968 I am glad people post these videos, they help others cope with having a loved one in the same position. I am in the same position, only it is my grandfather, who I am (was) very close with. He is totally gone now, still alive but his mind is totally lost.
my grandmother just past 2day from this disease, but im not very sad about it, cuz its been like shes been dead for years since she couldnt remember me or just about any1 else. She wasnt the same person.
@iloveyouhunny --- thank you for your thoughts but I'm afraid since my mum has got Alzheimers, I don't believe in God anymore, otherwise he would let this happen to a woman like my mum....sorry to diss anyone's beliefs, this is just my belief now....although we will give my mum a christian burial as this is what she believed in and wanted..x
Alz patients should take curcumin, an extract of turmeric. google and find the "Got Down Syndrome" blog and contact Quadoshah. UCLA has just made a really good bioavailable form and it breaks up Amyloid plaques. I'm giving it to my infant daughter with Down Syndrome to prevent Alzheimers and improve mental functioning
Well if you get another petition going then please let me know and I'll forward to as many people as I can, as well as the Alzheimer's society, I've got contacts there too. Take care..xxxx
Hi, Thank you so much for your kind wishes it is much appreciated. I see that your family have also suffered the same kind of problems and I am sad that this appears to be quite common place. I tried my best to get the petition read by government but in the year only managed to get 174 signatures so nothing will happen with it. Maybe I will try again at some stage when people are less fed up with me nagging! Maybe all families affected should march to Downing Street! I wish you all well XXXX

The beef industry is partly responsible for this because they began feeding bone marrow feed to the cows, which is cannibalism.
