I'm continually impressed by Claudio's work throughout this. You can tell he's climbed up to the top of a cliff to get a shot and then it's shown for only a second. But that level of effort in every single shot means the editors must have had so much to work with. Claudio I salute you.
Yeah I think Claudio must have worked his butt off with filming. And he still had to do the ride. Great work Claudio... and ya can still ride the Bike to keep up with Ewan and Chalie. Yeah I think Claudio deserves a salute.
I love the way this program doesnt just focus on the history/culture of the countries they visit but also the people who make it what it is today. I take my hat off.
This is perfect. The cinematography, the editing, the production, the music is amazing, this really is the benchmark for the film industry. The only thing that comes close is Long Way Round.
I NEED to go to Ethiopia......my god it is beautiful. The joy I feel from seeing Ewan and Charley do this trip and the envy of not being able to go myself is immense.
@kmystak Amen to that. I was going to write the same thing, but then I saw your comment and cracked up. The interesting thing is that I love donkeys, too, much more than horses...
I had a read about Eritrea, as I was interested in why they couldn't shoot that way. Eritrea and Ethiopia seem to have a hostile relationship and have threatened war etc. Also It seems the American government, more specificity Hilary Clinton, accused Eritrea of supplying weapons to terrorist militant groups.
@bennocelt The United States is eliminating all presistant and undetectable mines from it's inventory, except those needed on the North Korean border. Also they are eliminating all presistant mines except anti-vehicle, that are in service right now. The US is going to use mines that have remote detonators to destroy them after combat. The United States wont sign an any mine treaty because it would not be able to protect peoples it is allied with and it would not be able to protect it's bases.
protect its allies? like israel one of the biggest markets for weapons, etc and what about its illegal occupation of Palestine?
protect its bases? Could try something like peaceful diplomacy for a change rather than bombing all the brown peoples of the world time and time again
@chopper0 right, and maybe that s the reason why people arent intrested in the continent - cause its somehow just associated with bad stuff. (more than other continents or countries) - thank there are documentaries like this.
@ultrabrilliant Yeah, or even something like travelling to India via middle east/Pakistan, then up through Nepal, Tibet and China, and then down through southeast asia. Especially Vietnam, its full of motorbikes, they'd feel right at home! Not sure if thats possible without going through Iraq though...
@KNM1488 That's because the media, which is controlled by the government, and in turn is controlled by corporations, don't want you to see places they may want to bomb in the future. I was watching Russian Today they other day, and I was caught by surprise when I saw, for the first time, people going about their Sunday in downtown in some city in Iran the same way as we do. You will not see that on CNN, I guarantee you.
Yes their first trip was from London all the way around the world to New York then the second is from London all the way down to Cape town. Also right now in the summer of 2009 they are doing the third season of Long Way Up from cape town all the way up to Los Angeles, CA. Last time I check they were still filming.
@CommonRaven God you utter such nonsense.

I adore how they support UNICEF so much on this trip, and what UNICEF is working to do.

has anyone else noticed how Russ and David swap the order of their names from episode to episode? I'd love to see the discussion that led to THAT.
