The intro is a tapping run set on a loop and he crank's up the delay pedal's rps(repetitions per second for anyone that doesn't know) so the pitch goes up a lot, then he lowers it back down. There's a video on here of him doing that, if you don't believe me.

Yea, the intro effect is a delay pedal of a few notes sped up, then slowed down. Used to do it all the time my self. You can make an entire song doing just that if you're good enough (I wasn't)

As for the part right after that, it's easier on a real guitar, because half the notes are just repeats from the delay pedal. Not saying it's easy, but easier than GH is apparently showing it to be.... (It was even better live at G3 07...)

Awesome FC, however, imo it isn't a real FC without the intro just to make it hard as fucking hell.

And from what I read (I don't know this to be true), Paul Gilbert played the intro MUCH slower than the beginning is, and then it got sped up by using that recording and speeding it up/slowing it down on a computer/mixer/whatever.

well, watch the video , its here on youtube, called paul gilbert insane guitar, he plays a string skipping arpeggio, and twists the delay time knob on his pedal and this creates the speeed of light loop, so yes, he doesnt play it as fast, but still fast....
