Interesting. The term "rethink" comes to mind. There are a lot of Youtube videos where you could get some good ideas on how to better utilize the space. A sink that can't be used without the table down? Water systems above electronics... lots to rethink.
@MrConversionVans Actually i never had problems with those two issues. Sink is for washing dishes, so the table is down already. If you look carefully you'll notice the sink is to the side of electronics. Sink doesn't leak. Pipes do, sometimes, and you can tuck them away. But you are right about rethinking. And you have to do it all the time. It's just impossible to account for everything when you plan. For example now after 2 years i'm back to being a weekender, so i'm redoing the back side
@Beun007 What a complete fucking rude piece of shit you are for insulting this man's work! Are all the people in your country such low-life morons or is this just something from your family?
Not bad...not bad...I'm skipping all the needed hassle and headache of trying to make a van livable by simply buying a late model Class B...got my eyes on a nice 2008 Roadtrek 190 Popular..then hopefully by the start of 2012, I can begin my journey of criss-crossing the U.S. and documenting my travels! Will check out your other vids! Thanks for sharing!
@Alpacajon Im in canada and we have both the mercedes sprinter (its called the 1500, 2500 or 3500 depending on how big it is) and the dodge sprinter. The mercedes is an extra 35 thousand dollars with the only difference being a mercedes gas or diesel engine, a different dashboard + merc badges. Alot of people just get the dodges because of this...
@NTT353 a cheap but effective carbon monoxide detector should help with most combustion issues. , Propane tankage should always be in a physically separate space. i am getting a sprinter van myself to support my windsurfing habit.
@wildwindsca Yep, $50 coleman catalytic heater, $20 CO alarm. I still leave a small opening in my window and roof vent to create a chimney effect. The heater isn't very effective in subzero temperatures however as my current visit to Colorado shows. It's enough to keep me warm in down parka or double layered sleeping bags, but everything else is frozen including plumbing. Can't tell if there's any damage, 'cos it didn't melt ever since. Should've emptied the watertanks beforehand, but oh well.
Nice, but how did you make money to support your kite-surfing habit so elaborately?
BTW The "Shrimp" part is where it got a bit weird. At first I thought you said Stream which would have made sense for bathing. Is there a stream in this video, I think I see something? WHERE DO YOU POOP?
@Reverseflush there's an abundance of public restrooms in populated areas. Rest areas, gas stations, mcdonalds, walmarts, starbucks etc. Otherwise you have the whole nature to yourself. States are awesome 'cos you can follow the warm season throughout the year therefore showers are not a problem as long as there are lakes, rivers and other bodies of water around.
@Reverseflush LOL! was that a skirt-around he gave about how he's funding his "habit'? he sounds asian (it's not a slur coz im asian too, if u must know). but it seems to me, mom and dad are providing for his lifestyle. common enough in our culture. ;D
Hey! Inspiring setup. I'm thinking of getting a dodge 1974 that's pretty set up already, but not a whole lot of organization for storage. You remind me a lot of an old friend in terms of mannerisms and interest in tech, DIY, and climbing. Are you Hungarian, too?
@ezodii That is well thought out van. Nice work dude! But I have two questions... What if you get, let's say, some female company? Does this bed withstand this punishment? You know what I mean. :) And second one is what's about insulation if it gets cold?
@klramon Originally (as you can see in the video) i had two steel corners supporting the bed. We bent them a little in the heat of passion, so i replaced that with steel square tubing 1''x1'' 1/8'' thick of the same design - works great!
As for insulation - it's enough to hold day temperature for 2-3 hours in the evening, then inside temperature gradually evens out with the outside. Maybe just a little warmer than outside. You really want a good furnace for cold weather.
@Pwner5889 Yep, I'm in Seattle right now, heading to BC. This setup is great if you have a bike. I would probably settle for a smaller vehicle if not for motorcycle.
@ezodii Nice, so you already have a diesel generator to top it off. Probably not a bad idea to also have an AC to 12 DC converter as well. Grid is cheaper.
Hey my conversion is 1000 times better

I just started thinking how I might pack all that's necessary into a van like this. The split bed idea is interesting.
You blocked all your windows. Do you regret that? How would you have done things differently at this point?
