@MegaAlexis92 Many women (even age 80!) have been doing it incorrectly for years because no one taught them otherwise. Sometimes you can get away with it, sometimes you can't. Keep in mind if you have an odor or a discharge that this could be the cause! Good Luck.
Smegma is just a collection of sloughed off skin cells and sweat that is clumped and dry. Part of routine cleaning includes getting in the "creases" which would remove this. Those with redundant clitoral hood tissue may actually have to retract that tissue to get under it much like foreskin. You are correct, 50% of women never learn even proper "wiping" direction from their mothers. Generally no one asks, but I always ask women during routine GYN visits. Thanks for your thoughts
Ironically we teach women to clean their genitalia and educate them how to do so, but in the US we practice forced infant circumcision because of similar similar hygiene problems. Most women have never educated themselves by reading legimate medical literature such as the circumcision position statements by the AMA, AAP, CPS & every other medical associaion in the modern world which say that routine circumcsion is either not recomended or not medically indicated. Educate and not cut
This may offend alot of women, but it is none the less the truth. This presenter left out cleaning the smegma that accumulates under and around the clitoral hood and the labia minora. Most women believe that smegma is only an issue for uncircumcised men, but this is not true. A woman who does not practice consistent good vulvar/vaginal hygiene will be susceptable to all the problems that smegma can cause uncircumcised men with bad hygiene practices.
@Jennyboo0689 Hello Jenny, Although it probably would not hurt you to douche after your period once a month. It is not necessary because the vagina is a self-cleaning oven! That said, if you had a hot date or something it would be reasonable. Ditch the panty liners, they are just irritating to many.
Keep it up with these kind of videos!! I want to know all this stuff but I live with my dad cause my perents got divorced and it's not like he knows all this stuff that goes on with our lady parts!!!
Hello sexclinicdoctor, is there any way you can post a video ( you can use an animation picture ) to show us how to clean our area (vulva). Thanks for the info, very helpful.
Hello. Very unlikely to have fishy smell and be a virgin. Only possibility for that would be wiping wrong (pulling stool into vagina). Must wipe to the back. The fishy smell needs an antibiotic. No douching...makes it worse. The inner vagina cleans itself, the outer vagina and lips get the soap.
@xxHUGGSandKISSESxx Yes, indeed, there is actually an article in the Journal of sexual Medicine about this! In summary, the younger the person and the more sexually active, the more likely to shave. Grooming is interpreted as sexual attractiveness (partial or full). Bisexuals are most likely to shave. Those who do not have sex are the least likely to groom. Go for it!
@SexClinicDoctor What? I'm not sexually active but i heard removing hair around labia prevents smell. Girls also remove hair when they wear bathing suits (including one piece). It does not mean one is sexually active.
I never learned how to clean my vagina and anus, aside from wiping after using the toilet. I have IBS. I have been using wet wipes to clean after going to the bathroom, which has caused the irritation you talk about. But the wipes help with the feces. What should I do? And for daily cleaning in the shower, do I use a washcloth? What do I do with the washcloth after, so I don't spread feces around? Should I put it in a pail with detergent for until I go t the laundromat? I am having chronic UTIs.
@MissCat20101 Hello MissCat, Always wipe from front to back (clean to dirty). The wipes are often irritating to the skin, but if they don't bother you, fine. A wet washcloth with water only would be prefered. You dont have to be that careful with the washcloth because the "germs" belong to you! No laundry bin is needed. Make sure they do a culture on the urine because sometimes there is no infection despite symptoms and this means another condition.
@idaannachristina1 Hello Christina, Douching is a practice where women rinse or wash the vagina internally with solutions generally purchased in the feminine hygiene aisle in the store. NOT recommended because it washes out the good bacteria needed to keep the vagina in balance.
Hi, I am usually prone to yeast infections and BV infections. Now I wanted to know that if i use the live cultural yogurt, am i literally putting the yogurt inside my vagina? And using a bar soap to clean it, is the bar soap suppose to have fragrance?
@Cinthia1719 Hello Cinthia, Yeast causes extreme itching and is usually due to eating too much sugar or sometimes stress. BV has minimal irritation but has a musty odor. This is only treated with antibiotics and is worsened by douching. No soap needed in the vagina, it may over-clean the area. Use soap only on the outer vagina and lips as that is where the sweating occurs.
OK, so yogurt (active culture) is helpful for a yeast infection only. It has nothing to do with pH, but more to do with the bacteria in the yogurt eating the yeast! The vagina cleans itself naturally. Do you self stimulate to keep the area active? If not, that would explain less discharge due to low activity. NO worries
@vrwhitlockable No discharge is not something to worry about. It is usually clear for two weeks, thin white for o10days and then chunky white for a few days. If you are on the pill, there is usually less overall. As long as you don't feel too dry, you have plenty!
@SexClinicDoctor Nope not on the pill and not sexually active for over 4 yrs. I am 28 and I guess I would say it is not dry but dryer than when I was younger. Also do you condone using the yogurt treatment for the ph of the vagina and if so what exactly does it do?
what types of baby wipes are now good for the vagina?
I have the brand "Huggies" and I love them .... their good for any type of occation, i.e going # 2 .. or just freshening up ..... what is your take on this??
@poohbear00x Hello, I am not a fan of any use of wipes on the vulva, vagina area. In many women (especially fair-skinned) it causes irritation and burning (even when used just on the but). I recommend just a plain wet washcloth, no soap if needing to do extra wiping during the day. Bar soap once or twice a day. No overcleaning.
Great question...so yogurt with live culture has lactobacillus that would restore the natural bacteria that eat the yeast and keep them in check. Might be a good idea if starting a penicillin abx to prevent yeast! I suggest use 1/2 a summers eve vinegar and water douch with 1 tablespoon of yogurt. Keep rest in the fridge.
Hello, First, a mild BAR soap would be like Dove or Dial or Ivory. Bad smell can either be Trichomonas or Bacterial vaginosis. Sometimes "trich" has a greenish bubbly discharge. BV is worse after ejaculation in the vagina. Both are treated with an antibiotic named Flagyl (metronidazole). If it is "trich" the guy needs treatment, too. There are other less common causes of a smelly vagina like a tampon left up in there or cervical cancer (very unlikely). Can you see a gynecologist?
If your vagina smells like a dead rat, what should you do? Also, what is mild soap? Can you name some brands? I have never had odor, but the past 2 weeks it has been persistent & ii cant get rid of it. I heard yogurt was good, but what brand or type do you suggest??
I don't know but no mans ever complained about the flowery smell... I am wondering can you buy a Deodorant and use it for your Vagina? Like apply a small amount around you vagina or is this a health risk? Does it have the same effect as it would if you applied it on your underarm? Is there a vaginal deodorant?
@PoeticAuthority Hello, If the vagina is just washed with mild bar soap and water, it is like any other skin on the body. If you use a deodorant, that would give a foul taste for oral sex so not such a good idea. Good hygiene is all that is necessary.
@zacatetas@zacatetas The "normal" vagina should have a slight hormonal or musty smell that is neither pungent nor offensive. If the vagina emits a fishy odor, that indicates either a bacterial or trichomonal infection which can easily be treated with antibiotics. In the latter, ALL partners need treatment. Bacterial infections are common and most noticable after ejaculation into the vagina. A circumcised penis generally is odorless
@SexClinicDoctor I like the musky smell of a clean ass though, like when theres a little sweat and her body spray and the musk all get mixed in thats a huge turn on!
@zacatetas There is data suggesting that men prefer a slighty musky smell over a sweet/flower smell regarding sex. Likely the pheromones exuded similiar to how animals recognize and are attracted to each other.
