@Stackondat - He believes in the first amendment which clearly states that the congress shall write no laws establishing or prohibiting religious beliefs. Mandates coming from the Federal government he is 100% against, The President or the Constitution can not stop the States individually from doing things that some may consider dumb, like RomneyCare in Massachusetts. Ron Paul hardly makes his religious views center stage, he argues principle and the Constitution.
@Stackondat - Abortion is legal federally right now. He is against that and would like to see Roe v. Wade repealed. It's not up to the Federal Government in his view, its up to the States. Personally, Ron Paul is pro-life but doesn't believe in making his personal beliefs law. He follows the Constitution and the rule of law.

@Stackondat - Ron Paul is about personal liberty and many ask 'well what about abortion, womans right to choose' - If a pregnant woman is in a car accident caused by another driver, they can be charged with a homicide. An inconsistency in the law? No, the woman with the baby lost something and a life was taken or it wouldn't be a homicide. Making a federal law that life doesn't begin until you are actually born would make an argument against punishing one who had killed the baby in the accident.

Wade which makes abortions legal at the federal level which he is against legal or not. The Sanctity of Life Act "...would recognize that each STATE has authority to protect the lives of unborn children residing in the jurisdiction of that state." Yes, each State has the authority, not the Federal Government.

If the ability of a State to make a decision mattered so much, we wouldn't care what the president did. Yes, the president has a limited amount of power, but most of them(as RP clearly shows) have a good ability to get a large amount of people to stand behind their views.

@Lazypackmule - Um, Hitler was totally against State's rights. So i'm not sure where the connection unless you are arguing my point for States rights. The President does have some power, doesn't mean we shouldn't follow the Constitution. It isn't perfect but the powers of the Federal Government are clearly outlined in Article 1 Section 8. I suppose you take the Statist argument that the commerce clause and the gen-welfare clause can be interpreted to mean anything the feds what it to mean.

And yes, the States are free to decide, but what I've been trying to explain, is that if you manage to rally enough people(which can include people in government positions, they are people too.), you can have a pretty good chance of many States deciding in your favor.

@pipewerkz No birth control method is 100% effective, Abstinence is not a viable solution, Sometimes women don't even know that they're pregnant until it's too late, many mothers die in the birthing process whether they want the baby or not, many children live horrible lives due to unfit parents, orphanages are normally full, having many children grow up in them, unadopted. I can't really provide any new arguments.

sorry but i just cant vote for someone who doesnt believe in separation of church and state. he needs to understand that not everyone in america is christian, and we refuse to be governed by christian ideals.

@Stackondat - He believes in the first amendment which clearly states that the congress shall write no laws establishing or prohibiting religious beliefs. Mandates coming from the Federal government he is 100% against, The President or the Constitution can not stop the States individually from doing things that some may consider dumb, like RomneyCare in Massachusetts. Ron Paul hardly makes his religious views center stage, he argues principle and the Constitution.

@Stackondat - Abortion is legal federally right now. He is against that and would like to see Roe v. Wade repealed. It's not up to the Federal Government in his view, its up to the States. Personally, Ron Paul is pro-life but doesn't believe in making his personal beliefs law. He follows the Constitution and the rule of law.

@Stackondat - He wants drugs legalized because the black market causes all the violence in what should be an otherwise peaceful and voluntary transaction of trading goods/services, just like prostitution. He is 100% against the war on drugs because it is unconstitutional. As president he would pardon non-violent drug offenders. Him and Barney Frank have a bill in the House right now to legalize Marijuana at the federal level and let the States decide. No more DEA busting down the doors in Cali.

@Stackondat - Ron Paul is about personal liberty and many ask 'well what about abortion, womans right to choose' - If a pregnant woman is in a car accident caused by another driver, they can be charged with a homicide. An inconsistency in the law? No, the woman with the baby lost something and a life was taken or it wouldn't be a homicide. Making a federal law that life doesn't begin until you are actually born would make an argument against punishing one who had killed the baby in the accident.

@Lazypackmule - It proved @gangreneday's point. Did you read it or did you just see the words 'pro-life' and poop your pants? He wants to repeal Roe v. Wade which makes abortions legal at the federal level which he is against legal or not. The Sanctity of Life Act "...would recognize that each STATE has authority to protect the lives of unborn children residing in the jurisdiction of that state." Yes, each State has the authority, not the Federal Government.

@Lazypackmule - You've obviously never even listed to him. He doesn't make his religious views the basis of his argument. They are based on liberty and the Constitution. So, if you actually read the first amendment instead of magical liberal version, it doesn't say a single thing about "separation of church and state" it says "Congress shall write no laws respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof" States/People have the ability to make choices, dumb or not

@pipewerkz Yes, I know what Ron Paul's argument is. Thank you. Still doesn't mean his opinion is right, or what the founding fathers actually thought. If the ability of a State to make a decision mattered so much, we wouldn't care what the president did. Yes, the president has a limited amount of power, but most of them(as RP clearly shows) have a good ability to get a large amount of people to stand behind their views.
I know Nazi references are pretty cliche, but Hitler did that pretty well.

@Lazypackmule - Um, Hitler was totally against State's rights. So i'm not sure where the connection unless you are arguing my point for States rights. The President does have some power, doesn't mean we shouldn't follow the Constitution. It isn't perfect but the powers of the Federal Government are clearly outlined in Article 1 Section 8. I suppose you take the Statist argument that the commerce clause and the gen-welfare clause can be interpreted to mean anything the feds what it to mean.

@pipewerkz The Hitler thing was in reference to people who can get tons of people to back them up, which was itself a reference to how States rights don't matter when someone can just convince hordes of people that something bad is a good thing. You don't read very well. None of these things that you point out change what Ron obviously stands for and wants to do. And like I said, if Ron Paul can get enough people behind what he says, he has a good chance of getting what he wants.

You don't understand the Constitution very well, which is probably why you ignored my comments about the commerce/gen-welfare clause and decided to take a little shot at my reading skills instead, nice. @pipewerkz Refer to my first comment, pretty much that. Not really "disgusting" but not a very good thing. And yes, the States are free to decide, but what I've been trying to explain, is that if you manage to rally enough people(which can include people in government positions, they are people too.), you can have a pretty good chance of many States deciding in your favor.

I believe if you get the gov't and church out of the way there will be cheaper, safer and more effective birth control methods available. Also, there are so many families that would love to adopt children and would pay room and board for mothers, take care of them and give them a nice payment at the end just for giving them a child. Time to think outside of the box man.

@pipewerkz No birth control method is 100% effective, Abstinence is not a viable solution, Sometimes women don't even know that they're pregnant until it's too late, many mothers die in the birthing process whether they want the baby or not, many children live horrible lives due to unfit parents, orphanages are normally full, having many children grow up in them, unadopted. I can't really provide any new arguments.
Back-alley abortions is precisely why it was made legal in the first place.

The market always strives to serve the consumer. You are basing your arguments based on shit that rarely happens. Many mother die? More like less than 1% in the developed world. About the unfit parents and orphanages you are again forgetting about letting the market handle it instead of the State.

@pipewerkz No matter how accessible these things become, that won't change what people are willing to do to get rid of a baby, there are literally guides on how to induce a miscarriage. Also no matter how good orphanages become, that won't convince more people to adopt kids, when they can make their own. Only a "random" spike in women that cannot physically reproduce can fix that.

It's amazing to me that after years of useless wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, that have done nothing but prop up a weak government that is likely to fall upon our withdrawal, that there are still people that trash talk Ron Paul because he wants to withdraw from our foreign wars.
Anyone who adheres to a philosophy of "lets take out anyone who poses a threat to us" or "lets police the world" or "lets help those poor mistreated people" should google "unintended consequences".

America if you don't vote for Ron, I guarantee you, you will seriously regret it. He could definitely change not only America, he could very well change the world. He's the only one that gives a shit about personal liberty, our economy ect. I've looked at the others and Ron has something the others don't. A very consistent record that shows he really cares about the Consitution and America. All the others have flip flopped, but not Ron.
Do what you can, and please vote for him for 2012.
