It's my understanding that the law (P)rick Snyder signed today did not include an exemption based on firmly held religious or moral beliefs, no thanks to the Republicans. Had the law been signed as originally passed last month by the senate, it would have resulted in an anti-bullying bill, named after a young gay student, that did nothing to protect gay students from bullying. The problem with Bible critics is that they inevitably reject from the outset the possibility that the Bible could be what it says it is - the unique communication from God to us. This is an unwarranted bias, but it is based on another assumption that is unwarranted - that there is nothing supernatural. I used to hold these assumptions, until God woke me from my "dogmatic slumbers". Once you recognize that the God of the Bible is real you also realize that the Bible is credible and reliable.

To those who would continue to push for full approval of open homosexuality, I ask: Why is it that youth suicides & bullying have gone up dramatically in recent years at precisely the same time that the pro-homosexual movement has had its greatest apparent successes? I believe that the increasing pressure on kids to act on & celebrate homosexual tendencies is confusing them & driving them to desperation more than anything else. The problem with those who don't want a religious exclusion with anti-bullying legislation is that it will tend to be used by many to deny Christians and others our freedom of conscience, religion & speech. If someone asks me to approve of their homosexuality and I politely decline this is not bullying! In fact, the demand that I approve is bullying!

You're crazy if you deny that there is often pressure on many reluctant teens to "come out". Then there are unauthorized "outings". In fact, there is so much bias toward homosexuality in the LGBT community that I am quite confident that young people who have had bisexual experiences often tend to be encouraged toward the homosexual side rather than the hetero as their supposed real identities. This is wrong and highly destructive to them.

I enforce a strict rule of tolerance, and not to judge others, but I'm having a hard time keeping it up in the face of the religious who apparently preach it without being able to practise it themselves. People have a hard line against recreational drugs like weed and E that have little to zero negative affects, and yet we have to put up with people's recreational beliefs that the loons out there can then use to harm others.

@timeisupUS Sushi hole, really? I have cracked a Bible on multiple occasions. I went to a Roman Catholic school for 13 years and was enrolled in a religion class for all 13 of them. I have done more reading of the Bible than most, so don't assume that I haven't simply because I disagree with you. Secondly you have proven my point. In the passage you cite Jesus debunks the outlandish laws put forth in the OT, making the same point I was making earlier.

It's my understanding that the law (P)rick Snyder signed today did not include an exemption based on firmly held religious or moral beliefs, no thanks to the Republicans. Had the law been signed as originally passed last month by the senate, it would have resulted in an anti-bullying bill, named after a young gay student, that did nothing to protect gay students from bullying. Brilliant!

The problem with Bible critics is that they inevitably reject from the outset the possibility that the Bible could be what it says it is - the unique communication from God to us. This is an unwarranted bias, but it is based on another assumption that is unwarranted - that there is nothing supernatural. I used to hold these assumptions, until God woke me from my "dogmatic slumbers". Once you recognize that the God of the Bible is real you also realize that the Bible is credible and reliable.
