  • any person who thinks healthcare is a RIGHT needs to go read the ussr constitution...get in step comrade...that's what the dems think is bipartisanship...social security, medicaid, etc. are all communist precipices per their own constitution...march to the communist drum

  • might have to in 2012

  • so sayeth Government Goldman Sacks and the insurance companies they endorse

  • Seriously, he's right.....bipartisanship doesn't mean the dems bend over for the GOP, without any lube....everytime i watch a republican congressman speak, it's like "grumpy, Old men" outtakes....except i don' laugh...Thank you, President Obama, because by standing your ground and not letting the harsh and sometimes cruel opposition you've faced divert your path, you along with our elected congress have helped make America better in one year than Bush ever did in 2 terms...God Bless the USA!!!

  • good job obama, you made history and made alot of republicans piss their pants.

  • He should have scrapped it, and focused on the economy! Healthcare reform (government control of your insurance and taxes!) should have been strictly tertiary! There are so many things that need to be fixed before this!

  • they want to scrap it, so they can drag it out so nothing gets done. and the insurance companies come out on top.

  • Thats what we need. Thats what Canada, the UK and Germany are doing and even Sweden are doing, allowing some privatization of their economy and health care systems. Because Socialized medicine is a flawed idea and can never be efficient.

  • Man, you're just nasty...

  • obama needs to scrap his failed bills and start from scratch. he needs to sit down both parties and have the negotiations on cspan as he promised and stop making excuses. all my obama supporter friends agree that he is becoming more pathetic each day.

  • He is just another typical politician.

  • socialism!!!!!! why is that the dam word of the day everyday now.90% of americans could not write me a well thought out essay defining what socialism is.If the people at the top are assholes then it does not matter what the governing body is called.Even a dictatorship could work if the person was fair just and honest. If we would stop worrying about politics and becoming better people it would be a better place..You may not agree with him but are you against everyone getting health care some way

  • @ToneJermain please shut your socialist mouth and pretending like it is great.

  • @ToneJermain, come on, you should know it's not about that. By now you should be aware that most waving the anti-Socialism flag do so because they don't want to pay for everyone else's healthcare. And bottom line, that is exactly what is going to happen no matter how many ways Obama wants to present it.

  • Cool, Governator Schwarzenegger (is) carri(ng)ed the Olympic Torch in Vancouver!

Shoot, I'm not to liberal or Democratic to say "Go Governator!"

  • THIS ASSHOLE IS LYING TO YOU WAKE UP PEOPLE!!The Democrats will not pass this bill so what is Obama talking about????

  • Obama using his classic doublespeak: He will be starting over but by starting over he means starting with his Socialist plan and going from there

  • Yes, Miss Moxie, but see how the right wing is spinning this. All they have to run on is spin because if faced with honesty or integrity, they're exposed as useless harlots.

  • I see the tactic of the fringe right here: claim you're dedicated Dems but are disillusioned with the socialist/commie/marxist (pick your favorite devil term) tendency of today's Dems and that's why I can't do it again.

I'm lookin' through you, you phony propagandists! You were the ones clapping for Palin too, PHONIES!

  • Many of us are now ashamed to be Democrats. More than that, we have come to fear our own Democratic Party. Hatred and corruption - the roots of socialism - are on the march as they have never been before, and leading this march is our Democratic Party. Increasingly, mainstream Democrats are uncomfortable with what they are seeing in our party. All the more, we know it is dangerous.

  • Sir, very well said. I voted Democrat most all my life with a few exceptions. I voted for Clinton and Kerry but I have to say back at the democrat convention when Obama spoke there was something about him that made the hair on the back of my head stand up. I began to follow this mans speeches and voting record when he was in Illinois and realized this man was a committed socialist regardless of how he portrayed himself. The last true great democrat was JFK. I will never vote democrat again.

  • If what Obama's proposing is socialism then bring on the socialism because everything he says makes sense...

  • @HeathrowSurveillance Dumb ass people like you need to wake up !This asshole is lying to you read the bill!It is funny that Obama can't get this past for his on Democrats. The Democrats don't like the bill and they know it is the end of their jobs if they pass it!

  • That's a big assertion you made there and the burden of proof is on you. Offer some good evidence that Obama is for some reason lying about everything.

It seems to me that people like you expect normal people to have an exceptional amount of blind faith in order for them to trust the things you say. You'd think that the fact that no one listens too you would tell you that people can think critically and judge ideas for themselves...

  • BULLSHIT.

  • Meanwhile our middle-class families are looking for more than empty promises. They want to go back to work. And they want our Democratic Party representatives who run Washington to stop pursuing a big government, big spending agenda that includes a government takeover of health care, stimulus bills, a new national energy tax and taxpayer-funded bailouts.

  • We as Democrats are marching in a parade with people Harry Truman or even Jack Kennedy would not recognize - socialist (also know as progressives) who think that Western civilization began in 1969. Strangely, without meaning to, we the mainstream Democrats find ourselves representing this "socialist movement." However, for the "socialist" within our Democratic Party, there is nothing so strange about it. Socialist have always sought to leverage corruption for the sake of power.

  • Our Democratic Party has already lost the equivalent of every member we have acquired over the past seven years or more, and many of them are now supporting the tea party. More importantly, a recent Newsweek cover declared, "We are all socialists now."

  • "Hatred and corruption - the roots of socialism"? Try defining 'socialist' in terms of actual policy instead of a vague association with bad, scary things. Don't rush, there's plenty of time to copy and paste together some more talking points.

  • @Tetragrammaton8 maybe you should shut your mystical, jewish, inbred mouth?

  • @AgeisLiberatisLuces3 What are you, another "Israel should burn," "down with the Jews" nut?

And how's this guy mystical? Last I checked, he's a regular mortal as are you and I.

  • @mike50333 do you even know what the Tetragrammaton is?

  • I assume you're going to enlighten me? :p

  • No I'm going to leave you in darkness

  • Holy fuck, I missed this shit.

  • I haven't seen a republican straight out answer questions about the concessions they would make.

It's always just some bullshit about "If Obama were only to move towards the center!"

How about YOU move towards the center, GOP

  • @funincluded But then you still have Obama on the far left. Really there is no right or left, there is more or less government. It is a sure thing Obama wants more.

  • I wish Obama would start from scratch and put things on the table that were taken off the table because rahm Emanuell is a pussy. Like Single Payer, Removal of the Anti-trust exemption, and Strict Regulation on a national level. Come on Obama ... Really make the bastards squeal!

  • come on 2012 get here already!!

  • come 2012 the American people will

  • God sent the snow to let you know that gridlock is what is best for the government.

  • you dont need to pass the house bill.

    stop being a pussy

  • These asshole politicians need to put their friggin pride aside and do whats best for the american public, and spending our tax dollars frivilously is not helping.

    My blood is boiling.

  • Was your blood boiling when Bush doubled the national debt? If not, you are a hypocrite, and probably a racist.

  • YESSSS!...I hate what bush did equally.

  • Then who will you be voting for in 2012? Obama or Palin (or another moron Republican?)

  • Ron Paul.

  • Oh. So you're throwing your (Republican/ Independent ) vote away. Thats cool. Either way Obama wins.

  • It honestly depends...If Obama can turn this bitch around into greener pastures where, for starters, the jobs issue is history and no longer a problem, and he's up against Palin (my only other choice), the blithering halfwit...I'm most definately gonna vote for Obama.

  • I really want to believe him, I really really do.

  • So how is listening to FOXnews.. been working out for you?

  • Where did you get this conception that I am subscribed to Fox News? I loathe that network with most solemn passion. For you to cast judgment on me subjectively, though, is very much, Fox News style.

  • I don't think i've ever really heard Obama say anything bad, however i haven't really seen him do anything good.

    He's great at the podium.

I have no idea why the hell he wanted to tackle health care in his first year...

  • He tackled health care in his first year for a couple of reasons. One, for humanitarian reasons. Two and just as important: health care if broken and the sooner it's fixed, the better.

Obama hasn't cured cancer or anything like that but he's done many good things. Here's a few: Troop draw downs in Iraq are good. The very fact that he's pushing healthcare reform is good. Raising our image abroad is good. Increasing stem cell research is good. Bitchslapping the GOP House is awesome.

  • @kaysandesses

  • Obama already has more positive accomplishments in 1 year than Bush had in 8.

About the only thing Bush was ok on was US-Africa policy and aid, & even a stopped clock is right twice a day.

I have continually been pleasantly surprised by Obama & his team, & altho things aren't moving as fast as I would like, I believe him when he says he wants to reform our political system even as he reforms our Health Care system, & I believe he knows better how to do that than your or I do.

    VIVA OBAMA!

  • anyone that finds the above list of Obama accomplishments worthwhile, pls do feel free to copy&paste it into a document for future use. Most of these items got little or no MSM "News" time, so it's no surprise many people don't have a clue what Obama has or has not accomplished, & we all know there are a hell of a lot of people out there saying he is all talk. That's why I took the time to compile this list. Pls do make that effort more worthwhile by spreading it around, where appropriate.

    :-D

  • @baronmorris

    True on all counts

This is what people aren't looking at.

It's the Wallstreet debockle I take issue with.

  • You by any chance have ever heard of the American Israeli Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), and if so what do you know about them?

  • @NYJared04 Nest of spies. The whole goddamn thing is a Mossad front.

  • I heard rumor that Monica Lewinsky was actually a Mossad agent. (I believe I got that info from Davis Fleetwood - so if it is wrong, it's on him)

    cheers

  • Yep. Alternatively, you can just refer people to the "Obameter" section of the Politifact(dot)com truth-o-meter.

    politifact. com/truth-o-meter/promises/browse/

  • Bookmarked!

    Thanks

  • In addition to not starting over, I hope the White House and the Dems name the names of the goddamned repugnicants who stall and roadblocks, and expose exactly what they're doing. call in to their local news, let their constituents hear it. I guarantee the anchors will take a phone interview with the President.

  • He had his chance to name names at this press conference, but he didn't. He just alluded generally to the 'sillyness' of an un-named Senator who had put holds on his nominees, rather than calling out Richard Shelby for putting a blanket hold on ALL 70 of his nominees until he caves in on some pork barrel earmarks for Alabama.

I can only conclude that he doesn't want to appear that combative. But what he says at pressers and what he DOES behind the scenes aren't necessarily the same thing.

  • shut the fuck up obama, we all know health care is dead

  • the house and senate need to get their act together.

  • Q: "Why not start over again?"

A: "Why not quote Einstein's definition of insanity? Trying the same thing over and over again, expecting different results."

This was as close as he's come to stating the simple fact that, despite the Republicans at the meeting saying they're not happy with the status quo, their only goal is to obfuscate, delay and obstruct to make sure the status quo stays in place. That's also true of about five Senate Democrats.

Sorry, we're not rewarding bad behavior.

  • Compared to whom?

  • I've seen this same type of "stumbling" in other extremely intelligent, well-educated people. My personal opinion is that while Obama is giving this statement he's thinking about a dozen other things at the same time. The super intelligent are the ultimate multi-taskers.

  • I agree. He is a multi-faceted thinker. He's got tons on his plate when it comes to this country and he won't be able to accomplish all those goals in 4 years.

It's so much harder to build something than to tear it down. :/

  • Good point, but although gifted, what's really there to suggest that Obama is "super intelligent"? The crux here is that we want him to be just that, and one of his gifts is to make that impression -- but beyond that, I really don't see it.

Also remember that professorships etc is by no means evidence of "super intelligence".

  • If Obama is inarticulate, Reagan was an amphibian. And W was an amoeba.

  • now now, let's not go picking on amoebas by comparing them to the idiot bush

  • nice. thx for the laugh.

but come to think of it, even if Obama is NOT inarticulate (that is, if he is articulate), Reagan was an amphibian, and W was an amoeba.

    cheers!

  • @robbe21 What? Did you watch the Q & A with the GOP Caucus? He dealt with all those nonsensical questions the right have shitting out of their mouths wonderfully. This morning, even that stooge on Fox & Friends, Steve Doocy, said it would be a horrible idea for them to go into another open forum with the President. He said it would be "another spanking". Fuck man, Fox even cut the Q & A short it, while the other networks chose to broadcast the whole thing, it was so bad.

  • It was a beautiful sight. Obama walks into the lion's den (the liar's den?), single handedly destroys every imbecilic gop talking point from the gathered 140 dim-bulbs, stays late, walks tall out the door completely unscathed as a silenced gop is left shivering on the floor in a collective fetal position. the gop was so panicked that faux noose pulled the plug on coverage.

  • It was beautiful ! That was the highlight of my month ! I think I'll start calling that the Kenyan Bitch Slap Session ! He sure did bitch slap them !

  • you nailed it! and beautiful it was. :-D

  • @ Alien Truth

I couldn't agree with you more my friend. Republicans are stupid to want to go against Obama toe to toe. They'll end up embarrassing themselves again just like last week.

  • "Republicans are stupid to want to go against Obama toe to toe."

Oh yeah, they know Obama has put them in a no-win situation on this. If they sit for bipartisan meetings their obstructionist tactics will be revealed, and if they don't sit for the meetings their obstructionist tactics are even more obvious.

I wonder if Obama plays chess...

  • on a 3-dimensional board, no doubt. :-D

  • Ha ha, well said!

Thanks for posting the list of Obama's accomplishments too.

  • Yes I did, and he did very well. The one point to make in this specific instance is that the questions and issues he responded to was, in many cases, so weak, exaggerated, logic-lacking if not borderline crazy that one can argue it doesn't really say that much that he was able to shoot them down.

  • @robbe21

I thought he was pretty articulate.

  • u r surprisingly retarded.

(that's right... I said the R-word! but you earned it!)

  • You just wait, Sarah Palin will come and get you...

  • that empty hag gets anywhere near me and I will spit in her face.

  • @robbe21 - Oh really? Go check out the vids of Obama owning the entire Republican party at their Baltimore retreat for two hours after the SOTU address. Just him, the facts, no teleprompters, and room full of stupid Repugs with ZERO criticism of his answers to their ridiculously accusatory questions. See it for yourself.

  • Not difficult to understand ('though easy to pretend to misunderstand), bipartisanship can't mean: Scrap everything that's gone before, and start over on the basis of a pre-agreement that nothing shall be done.

HOWEVER, one side will frame this as not giving and inch, and the other side will frame this as total capitulation.

  • @voyeurdug: Exactly. The GOP is overpopulated with witless boors. They need to understand that their ideas are being solicited, and if they're good ideas then they might be integrated into the health reform bill. GOPers don't understand that diplomacy requires communication. Another example of that mindset is all the wailing and thrashing about when Obama said he was open to discussions with the leaders of countries we're at odds with.

  • You know, the American people need to just stop being fools, and shitting their pants in fear every time the insurance companies tell them this is a government takeover.

Right wing people act as if individual greed in the private sector does not exist, or does not factor into politics at all, or that greed is what makes our country great. They are wrong about all of those things.

These people should, & will be able to keep getting fucked out of their money by smarter people.

  • Im starting to think he is stupid, does he really still think that the republicans want bipartisanship? They have been kicking him in the nuts for a year now, when will he wake up?

  • It's not the republicans that want bi-partisanship (although they have been 'calling' for it - and what he's doing now is basically calling their bluff) But it's the swing voters that want 'bi-partisanship', not to mention that 'bi-partisanship' was a big part of his campaign.

  • @verstwo2 Sure you are right, but it takes 2 to tango, and if they don't "dance" he can't spend his whole presidency trying to get their support and get nothing done. I don't thing the american people want's bipartisanship at any cost.

  • Yes, I do know that, but I also know he's given Congress and the Senate way too much time to agree on this Bill. Obama wants a Health Care reform bill, but he's taken attention away from pushing it...the Democrats should just pass it and forget the GOP, they don't want any reform, their friends and themselves are making too much money by keeping it just the way it is...that's called GREED! Pleanty of that going around in D.C.

  • 1st year.

    Democrat in the WH

    Democrat majority in the Senate

    Democrat majority in the House

Maybe we should be calling them the party of CAN'T

    Yep, DemoCant... that's about right.

Brought to you by the creators of Hope & Change (TM)

  • see my extensive list of Obama accomplishments at the top of this page. then STFU.

  • LOL... "STFU"

Does that actually work for you?

    What a douche.

  • tellem obama

  • Keep up the good fight, Obama.

  • Well done Mr President.

  • @wowamonn Impeach obama now!

  • Well put.
