  • i hate it when my alternater breaks and i'm running my car off my shitty battery already. i dont think i am going to feel better when my car ONLY runs on a battery. call me a hatter or the enviroment but i'll wait until something more dependable comes out.

  • @solidenber They've already done testing for the LEAF and stated: Batteries will have 80% capacity after 5 years of use & 70% after 10 years of use. IMO, maintenance and chances of a "break down" are a lot "HIGHER" for a gas engine. Reason being? not only do you have an alternator that can go bad, but you have belts, spark plugs, distributor caps, an numerous other things "extra" that can go wrong.. but, only time will tell. a Lithiom-ION is a lot different than a traditional 12V car battery.

  • leaf is for soccer moms and volt his for bitches

  • Interesting... user "aikeno7777" is just a "regular guy" and posted below but if you click on his username his "Channel is not available". That could mean he is underage (and not exactly informed yet) or he is one of those paid liars. Actually, paid liars (from big oil) spend more time posing as "regular guys" who love horsepower, smoke, etc.

Swapping a depleted battery for a charged battery and paying for Just the Charge makes sense (see my post, below) but Oil Companies hate and block it.

  • we're still trying to ween ourselves off gas. while some may be able tp go cold turkey and use an electric car right away, i believe the volt is a good transition until we reach the point, technology wise, when we can go cross country in a full electric vehicle.

  • volt does not compete with the leaf,GM dropped the ball with ev1 There could have been charging stations every where now had GM not dropped the ball.

  • i cant drive to my parents place for holidays in the leaf,, leaf looses

  • SIMPLY PUT, if you already have one gas car in the family the Leaf is a good choice for a second car. I'm a single guy with only one car in my arsenal so the Leaf would be a bad purchase in the fact that I can't go long range, So the Volt is a better fit for single car families, or individuals.

  • 1. Build battery swap stations instead of battery charge stations (click on my username to see a demo-video, then click PLAYLISTS) a Leaf could be the ONLY car you might own.

    2. STOP subsidizing oil companies with taxpayer money (We pay a Higher Rate than large companies AND their Boards and Executives pay).

    3. Wrestle away the battery patents. ExxonMobil snatched patents from companies that BigOil lobbied Congress to let die...

Electric faster? YES, Maintenance? LESS. It's Profit v. Planet

  • @CI9TK

    You are absolutely right!!!

  • There are more and more public charging stations popping up in the US all the time. Many of the Cracker Barrel restaurants have fast charge charging stations that you can use to charge your Leaf to near 100% in the time it would take to read the menu, order your meal, eat your meal, pay for your meal and browse the store. Likewise the Leaf's Nav will let you know if someone near by has a charging station at their home that they are willing to let EV owners use.

  • Range anxiety won't fly with the Leaf in the states unless its a second car....

  • personally i would pick the leaf cuz it has much more mileage, but the chevy yea it looks good but it dosent have the dame amount of electrical mileage as the leaf.

  • @crazyhead217

Are you fuckin' nuts? The LEAF gets 77 Miles on a charge which is, as they keep saying, its only source, so after that, you are fucked. On the other hand, the Volt has 44 Miles on a charge PLUS about 330 miles on a tank of gasoline. You don't have to be worrying about running out of power and having to wait ten hours for it to charge back up.

  • 2nd chick was hotter

  • Lol's will be had , when the chevy has engine trouble after 40 miles when it goes for a 150mile out of town trip, that could have been done in a leaf.

  • funny they picked an not so pretty chick to show the nissan and the hot chick to show off the volt, the nissan needing very dark windows so not to be seen riding it.

  • Volt 40 grand+ leaf close to 40 grand=both rich peoples toys

  • Excellent .. Volt owner 2501

  • Volt looks better but has less head room.

Volt charges quicker on 240 but does not have DC quick charge.

Volt has better cargo loading configuration but costs more in the end.

Volt is available now Leaf is not.

  • Am tired gas oil car!! Change oil, broken transmational, change new engine, linking gasket, greasing every where etc...

  • the leaf is more comfortable but the design dull. the Chevy is more sporty!

  • I would choose the CHEVY VOLT way more sexier then the Cat in the Hat Leaf.

But Toyota Prius is all around the best electric car around Battery Charged with a Hybrid Engine.

  • GM knows nothing about making electric cars. Their EV1 is the biggest failure in Automotive history, almost every EV1 has been crushed, thats where the Chevrolet Volt will end up as while the Nissan LEAF revolutionized the Electric Car

Volt = Who Killed the Electric Car

LEAF = Revenge of the Electric Car

  • @JundaComputersGmbH

Chevrolet destroyed the EV1 and it wasn't from a lack of quality or consumer interest.. do some research. GM made the first modern electric car and everyone that leased it loved it, unfortunately they never let anyone buy out their lease and took all their cars back and crushed them themselves, just like the chrysler turbine.

  • @waterkeeper03 Only Europe and Japan make good cars.

  • @JundaComputersGmbH Everyone makes good cars. except for the French.

  • Most drivers of the volt I have seen posts from are saying 100 mpg averages It just changes you and the way you drive when you have one it's like a challenge to get it as high as possible. For the record. The volt gas engine powers the generator only. But at speeds of over 60 or 70 and high demand like steep inclines the engine does directly turn the wheels. Don't ask me how it's done but it's very advanced

  • Methinks the EV-1 wins!!!

  • yeah, this has no purpose, 100% elec vs. hybrid... apples and bananas.

  • help me i live in an appartment how do i charge then

  • why are we comparing 100% elec vs hybrid? Leaf has no competition.. yet.

  • @ikalinin - Except the Ford Focus Electric and Coda California.

  • @ikalinin you are right! i totally agree

  • @ikalinin its no regular hybrid like prius it can go as much a leaf on electric power then goes on gas its almost the same but your not always nervous in the volt since you have backup gas

  • It's a great car, but the Volt seems more practical. The Volt uses an electric motor too, but it also has a mini gas engine which will come in real handy if your electric motor batterygets low. So it's not technically a hybrid like Prius/Insight, but it won't limit you to 100miles. The Leaf is still cool! I just can't see it outside of heavily populated areas. Especially since charging can take all night & almost 24hrs. So with work/school commute, I could only drive Leaf every other day lol.

  • with the leaf, earth win lol.

  • Uhm.. When they talked about the Chevy they were talking about 240v charging. Then with the Nissan they were talking about 220v... Big difference.. Obviously the editor for this video was being bias.

  • To those people claiming to drive less than 5 miles a day, yet are bitching about the Volt using gas...if you're so concerned about the environment, get off your lazy asses and WALK, or ride a bicycle. Quit causing my electric rates to go up with your electric cars, and all the juice they suck down!

  • I feel like Chevy has the better vehicle here. The U.S. has a very limited network of charging stations right now. Most states have less than 10 total. Maybe in a decade or two, when there is an infrastructure for fully-electric automobiles, cars like the Nissan Leaf can flourish.

Nissan markets the car as a second-car. That's a pretty expensive second car. If you can afford that, then you aren't worrying about gas prices.

  • what worries me is that chevy's rep (the chick talking about the volt) flat out lies about the motor not powering the wheels directly, becuase it does. Now that does not matter to me really, it's all about the numbers, but the fact that either she's lying or simply ignorant to the car leaves me speechless and I don't know which is worse. Chevy has very secretive about the car, and not letting outside car testers test the car, maybe because the car is not as green as you might think...

  • @oakleysteve you can go to any dealership that has a volt and test drive it, how is that secretive?

  • @oakleysteve

If you google the Chevrolet Volt on Wiki-pedia. You would see that you're comments are incorrect. The cars gas engine does not power the wheels directly. The gas engine charges the battery and then sends its energy to the electric motor. What worries me is that you come on YouTube and make comments that you have done any research on. Please don't post false information. SO THE Chevy REP IS NOT LYING YOURE JUST A TYPICAL TALK OUT YOUR ASSHOLE YOUTUBER - Thank you.

  • @carnagerpm Wow,love how you say I should do research when your haven't done it yourself. Dumb people are funny, but seriously, do a little research before you try to act smart. Obviously you're not very good @ research, so let me help you out with just a couple links below to get you started. After that, follow your own advice, do your research, and don't post false facts...moron.

    jalopnik.com/5661051/how-gm-lied-about-the-electric-car

    youtube.com/watch?v=xTxNnjsbocw

  • the nice thing about the volt is lets say you decide to go on a road trip from...eh lets say Colorado to CA. that's like 900 miles. If you leave out with a fully charged battery, you can travel 33 miles on the battery alone, and then approx. 279 miles (combined total 312 miles) before having to stop, depressurize and refuel. You will only have to refuel 3 times (one way). The leaf may get 99 mi per charge, but you would have to stop at least 9 times to recharge, for 7 hours per stop. Volt FTW.

  • With the engine, You still have to maintain the eninge. That means Oil changes, and Filter, Sparkplugs, Air filters, Exhaust parts will rust. It also means oil seals that can leak, Dirty engine bays. Who knows what an oil leak will do to the electrics. Then you have the cooling system. What will that do if a leak is developed near the electronics. They will not clear away from gas. Volt took to long to come out. The Leaf came in under the radar and is functional.

  • I do agree the volt has a better system. Very minimal load for a generator to operate. The engine would probably only run at 2000 RPMs. That just a guess. 580km max range does not seem like a lot of mileage considering it still burns gas. I expected more. But it also depends on the size of the tank. Whats the mileage when you have to fill up gas and there is no charge in the batteries? They should have made a full electric option for the Volt as opposed to having to purchase it with an engine.

  • The leaf is the way to the future

the volt is a major mistake on GM's part

they should of brought out EV2

IF GM had been interested in Electric cars EV1 would of been out a longtime ago and we would be comparing EV20 to the Leaf

  • @dave777blaster What do you do if you want to go more than 80 miles in the Leaf? You have to stop for hours to recharge. At least with the Volt you can run the battery off of gasoline for longer trips.

  • I understand why the volt is better, since the world isn't fully adapted to electric cars if you were to travel a far distance there are not electric places to fuel your car so you don't have to worry about how far you can go without an electric outlet in your reach. the leaf should have come out maybe 4 years later when electric stations are as populated as gas stations.

  • American engineering never fails.. The Volts needs and engine to run and engine ROFL.. Gas motor to run the electric engine.. omg how do these people come up with this stuff.. and they advertise it as an electric car when its a Hybrid, since its powered by a gas motor after 40 miles.. ppl that drive less than 40 miles a day dont need a fuel economy car.. /cry

  • Still only 40mile range electric though! Pathetic..

  • @46Mongoose You seem to have been censored.

  • Maybe u guys in the US should finally switch to 230V ;-)

  • Comment removed

  • Why PREMIUM gas for the Volt? That's 10-15 cents more per gallon than REG gas.

  • The Chevy chick was hotter... Chevy wins

  • @SuperToshibaMan

with the leaf, earth wins lol.

  • what happens when the Leaf runs out of power and you're in the place where outlet not avalable?

  • @KatiushaVN4 same thing that happens to a gas running out of fuel where there is no gas station available =D

  • @touachaher

Gas stations are at every single corner of the streets. Kiddo, Why don't you just use your head to think?

  • secondary car?

  • MY friend got the leaf and he charges it from a small wind turbine / solar panel at home. If he really needs to go from 0 charge to 100% charge he just plugs it in but otherwise he usually never pays a cent because he just slowly trickle charges it 24/7

  • If you think it's a good idea for the oil companies to go away slowly...your really not listening to anyone. Most of us are pissed off at the oil companies and auto companies that could have taken the consumers concerns to heart (if they cared) 40 years ago, but the problem is that they don't, now you expect that we should? All they really care about is the bottom line, and to see how much they can screw the Government, i.e. you and me out of the tax money. Did you see how much tax GE paid?

  • I think the Chinese automaker BYD has the best electric cars.

  • Although the all-electric range is disappointing, the Volt wins in mass appeal to the everyday consumer on a single vehicle budget. The idea of pure electric is fantastic but the reality is not here in the present day for a good part of the population. The Leaf requires a 200/240 charging dock and installation, as well as 8 hours on a 30 amp circuit to recharge from empty using its on-board 3.3kW charger. Installation of a home charge station IS EXTRA. (continued below)

  • Do you have 220V/30A in your garage or carport? In your underground parking if you’re in an apartment? The leaf is supplied with a 110 volt/15 amp charger for “convenience“ charging which will recharge at approximately 5 miles per hour of plug in time. The 2012 model is said to be equipped with a 6.6kW charger on-board which theoretically could ½ charge times but would require more current than a 220V/30A circuit offers. What happened to EEStor and its super-ultra-mega capacitor? B.S.?

  • The volt is proven already to be the winner here. The sales prove it. All the others made a calculated decision ,and it was the wrong one. You have to take things step by step. Chevy did it right. People will the volt and are. They can't keep any in stock. The leaf is monumentally fugly also. Cmon that is so butt ugly The volt is really good looking. Buy American people

  • The electric vehicle is NOT new. It's actually old tech that still needs maturing. Henry Ford's wife drove an electric Ford back when the company was young.

Nissan's kinda getting ahead of themselves. The average consumer's wallet isn't going to permit them to have a complementary car to go with the one already in the garage. GM knows this. Most of Nissan's support is coming from fanboys (be real, you HAVE to be a fanboy to rep something that looks like THAT).

  • climates as in negative temperatures or beyond scorching weather can also reduce your range as well just to let you know. Last but not least near the end of phrase 1. I meant put a heavy coat on to stay warm so you can avoid the heater and as well by not reducing your range when it comes to the heater of your electric car.

  • Have you heard that Nissan may make there battery go up to 200 miles of range in a few years and no I'm not making that one up if so it maybe more like 173 miles depending on your driving habits. Also people if you turn on your heater it can dramatically reduce your range that's why one of you had that problem when driving your Leaf and not trying to be rude or anything but if I were you on I would put a heavy coat on to stay and not to disappoint again but even extreme temperatures as in harsh

  • chevy needs a few years to advance but they'll probably never catch up to nissan.

  • @4turboboost

The Chevy Volt wins!!! The Nissan Leaf can cut-off at anytime while you are driving, but not the Volt. Both Nissan and Tesla are going about this the wrong way. Fisker and Chevy offers the better solution when it comes to electric vehicles.

  • Why not stick a li-ion battery pack in the trunk of the Leaf or Chevy Volt to extend battery range? You can buy such battery packs for autos now. You may get an additional 100 mile range.

  • all nissan baby

  • who killed the electric car?

  • @greycrx87 We do, we do!

  • @skaterdude14b

    Yeah, what about it?

You can change how electricity is made, whether from Coal, Oil, Nuclear, Solar, Wind, Geothermal, etc. You can't change where oil comes from.

  • I recently purchased Volt # 710.. Until you have sat behind the wheel and driven this car you have no idea how remarkable it is. I've put 700 miles on it and it is only used 3 gallons of gasoline. It is fast, is fun and it's the only green car that a man can drive and not feel like he's driving a girly car no, it's not cheap but it is also a lot of car for the money… This is by no means an economy box. It has the technology and features found in high-end luxury cars.

  • chevy looks nicer but the leaf has a gets 100miles thats to bad its so ugly ill never drive it

  • @anilraj420 i would take the nissan over the chevy fuck obama motors

  • LOL! The Chevy Volt is a joke!!! I cant believe they actually have the nerve to call it an electric car...they just cannot let go of that gas engine can they?!!! The Nissan Leaf is a perfect day to day commute to work and back vehicle and will never cost you a dollar in gasoline. Nissan headed in the right direction, Chevy...4 steps backwards. Anyone who buys the volt is a moron.

  • @ferrari092379 I recently purchased Volt # 710.. Until you have sat behind the wheel and driven this car you have no idea how remarkable it is. The leaf claims to have 100 mile range. Put it on the highway at 65 miles an hour, turn on the heat, headlights, windshield wipers and I can assure you it would not even make it 30 miles. Now you're stranded. That will never happen in a volt

  • @michaeltrofeo88 I agree. I have an issue with these car makers making half ass electric cars that still require gas. The Leaf is not made for long distance driving, but at least its 100% electric. I want nothing to do with gasoline anymore which is why the leaf is the perfect car for day to day work and back driving. For the twice a year I do a long haul I'll rent a gas car until they decide to put alternators in the electric cars which keep the batteries charged as you drive.

  • Comment removed

  • @ferrari092379

The Leaf is a joke, not the Volt!!! And how can someone who makes the wise decision of purchasing a car that will not cut-off while he is driving be considered a moron?

  • @tmat04 - I have a Leaf, it is not a joke. I've driven it all around the Dallas metro area and have not once come close to running out of power. It is fast, it seats more than the Volt, costs less money, and makes me free from the gas pump forever.

  • @tmat04

That's great! And i do hope it will continue to work well for you. But i live on an island that is very hilly, and i just don't see neither the Nissan Leaf, nor the Tesla S being the right solution for me. But thanks for sharing this with me. I really do appreciate it.

  • @ferrari092379 "Anyone who buys the volt is a moron." I guess so are the people who buy gas cars (which you probably have right now). The Chevy is for people who like to take long road trips from time to time. The Leaf is for the average drive to work and back plus errands. They both have their pros and cons. I love the Volt because I have the option to go farther, but I also love the Leaf for being 100% electric. Either is better than what I drive now. Better in 2012 maybe

  • Comment removed

  • Sorry, but the Leaf can't go on long trips... Ever.

Think about it for a minute. Where are you going to stop to charge it?

It takes 8 hours to charge the Leaf on 220. Even in the unlikely event that the fast DC charger was available where you stop to recharge, it still takes 30 minutes to charge to 80%.

So are you going to wait 30 minutes every time you need to "fill up"? What if 5 people are ahead of you in line to charge their cars? Hours waiting!

Remember you have to stop every 100 miles.

  • @jruddock Good points! However,if you plan on going on a trip you probably will have more then enough money saved to buy a plane ticket from the money you saved by not buying gas.I do love road trips though! The batteries are improving, don't worry. Most people do not drive 100 miles a day.I deliver pizzas and i only drive about 60 miles a shift,so for most people they can charge the car when they get home. Gas costs way too much, pizza companys dont pay enough for reimbursement, i want an electric!

  • @jruddock People who plan on driving long trips won't buy the leaf...not until there are charging stations. The Leaf is for day to day commuting to and from work, city drivers...etc. The average person does 4 long haul trips per year!!! Not enough to be concerned. If you're gonna make an electric car...make an electric car. Chevy's attempt is absurd.

  • To be honest, I'd say the LEAF is way better but DAMN! the VOLT IS SO SEXY!!!

I'm 16 and don't even drive yet.. or have 10 dollars saved up for a car but I'd probably go for the Volt because it looks nice, and hell.. Why would I ever need to drive 40 miles away, heh.

  • Why does the 40 mile battery in the Volt take up interior space when the 100 mile battery in the Leaf fits neatly under the car allowing for five seats rather than four.

Being a four seater takes the Chevy Volt out of the running to be my next car.

Can't wait for the Leaf to show up at my local dealer.

  • Nissan Leaf rullez!

  • OK ppl I've been saying the volt is JUNK and GM is a bunch of profit mongers sleeping in the same bed as the oil/gas monopolies. So this chick for the volt claims that the gas engine is not powering the wheels lol the fact is; it is. According to GM the gas engine is powering wheel but only after 70mps LOL hope yall volt ppl check it out and quit being sheep.

    (GM's "Volt-Gate" Scandal - Autoline Daily 497) <--- Video

  • @babydoll1112 LOL i know you got some brains up there so y are you not using it? I am aware that there aren't many Charging station on ever street corner of America; Wonder Y? Just think about it, what would be easier to build and operate a GAS STATION OR AND ELECTRIC CHARGING ZONE? Furthermore, when gas cars were introduced, there were maybe a hand-full of gas stations, but people still prevailed. What do you think is gonna become of the volt-less volt now that parts form Japan wont make it

  • I think the volt is good for the transition, but when the infrastructure for electric vehicle is up to our needs , the nissan leaf will be the way to go .

  • Untill they get charging stations with quick charge everywhere the Volt is the way to go.

  • Leaf =Weak, too long to charge, looks dorky

    Volt=Looks cool, chicks dig em

  • @babydoll1112 lol well if you don't like foreign cars that's ur choice, but i can bet that EVERY SINGLE PART in the volt is not made here in America, so how American is it? If More Americans spend there money smarter than just setting for what they give us, them American Car Companies would produce better cars than their foreign counterparts. Case in point Tesla Motors, its an American car company, but now Toyota is working with them to produce better batteries. I would by a Tesla over a Volt

  • the cars themselves are better for the environment but how about how the electricity is made?

  • whichever's gonna make our life more effiecient and's gonna make more miles on a single charge's gonna win in the next WAR for ELECTRIC CAR's, whoever get's the better technology now's gonna stay on the TOP forever in the Electric Auto Industry, that's all I can say!

  • Oh and this video is outdated because since then, Chevy has admitted that the 4 cylinder engine will in fact drive the wheels. That thing is not a pure electric car.

  • Why are we comparing these? It's apples and oranges. The Chevy Volt is a glorified hybrid and the Nissan Leaf is an ALL electric car.

  • With electric, your just taking the pollution out of the city and putting it in one big area. Power plants use petrol or diesel so that you can get your energy for your air conditioned house, and that xbox of yours. "Oh but wait, what about solar power and wind mill plants?" Wrong! Do you know how much room that would take up? A lot. And the best thing we can do for this planet is to cut our population in half.

  • That Volt lady is nasty, she sure loves to talk down,I cant believe they used her.

  • The problem I have with the Volt is WHY or WHY couldn't the gas engine be used to recharge the battery like a hybrid when the battery runs down? Not just power the car. GM must have been afraid of falling into the hybrid category so "we'll make them have to plug it in to recharge it like a all electric car". That's not acceptable for $40K.

  • If you can buy a volt or leaf or any hybrid car. i would punch anybody in the face that would screw to save the planet and the human race

  • They should have made the Leaf look better, it would do much better then.

  • @SladePresley the leaf looks fine the way it is. moreover, its a pioneer vehicle by nissan in this field, and i think that they have done a good job thus far.

  • screw these cars, lol top gear's hammerhead i eagle thrust is much better, and is a diesel electric car you can make at home.

  • GM had the EV1 and pulled it ,now they want another chance ,no way will i ever buy another GM product EVER!

  • electric cars are for people who live in houses what about people who live in apartments and condos where they dont have garages???????

  • @shitkicker83 It's not for everyone, but it's a great alternative for some people and especially people who live in the city and suburbs where air pollution is a problem and they don't have to drive great distances between charge ups.

  • @shitkicker83 This is a very good point and it may be a problem for 5-25 more years. Eventually, we'll have to solve it by sticking chargers outside for these people, since the internal combustion engine is going the way of the dinosaurs.

  • @shitkicker83 I share the concern, there should be incentives put out for apartment complexes to install charging stations.

  • @Soldier0117 I don't really see any charging stations anywhere, until all the new cars/trucks plug in the same way.

  • @shitkicker83 public transportation (i live in a condo)

  • @JBK6650 what does public transportation have to do with the nissan leaf??? your comment makes no sense to my argument!!!!!

  • not 90% it is 100% electric...yeah go Leaf ..go....woo...woo

  • @happyboyy8k yeah but you heard what they said.... lets say you single what they hell do you want to pay twice the registration fees just to have an all electric car and then another car when you make a road trip more then 100 miles. obviously you dont live in San Diego, ca where over 100 miles is easy in a day. thats why the chevy wins.

  • @happyboyy8k Don't be a retard, go..woo...woo ignorant people, following the green band wagon. Chevy is actually made a car that doesn't have to change your life as drastic, chevy has the right idea when it comes to the car they made. More companies should make this configuration so that the oil industry slowly goes away. Which such a drastic car like an electric car people will shy away. Its the mind set which chevy is trying to change. As an engineer I understand what they are trying to do.

  • 40 miles sucks! GM fucked up again!!!

  • @TheEpiphan3 u got that right

  • Nissan has the right idea. Chevy needs to go back to the drawing board. The volt is a joke. Who killed the electric car, CHEVY. Don't let them fool you again.

  • @stanleymarc007 I'd take a plug in hybrid over a pure electric any day

    1. I can run pure electric for daily commute

    2. when the batteries run out I'm not stranded

3 I don't need a second vehicle to go on a road trip or anything more than half the rage of my batteries (because when they say you have a 100 mile range you really only have 50 because you have to get back home afterward)

    4. The Power grid would have trouble keeping up with plug in hybrids let alone pure electric vehicles

  • @stanleymarc007 Not so fast, the Volt offers a fusion in EV and gas. The reality is that no mass produced EV can be someone's car for all purposes until there are more charge stations and the capacity increases. 40 miles is still more than most people will need, after that you don't have to worry.

Ironically, the Volt would be best used by an efficient driver despite the extra range provided by the gas tank.

  • @stanleymarc007 yeah but they DID kickstart the race of the ev again in 2010, so i wouldnt rule them out just yet..

  • The Volt addresses actual habits of the majority of drivers. Most people drive less than 40 miles a day. Most Volt drivers would never have to use the gas engine. It's a great intermediate step. Fuel cell tech is the next step, but we need gov't to set standards and policies to make it happen. Don't blame the auto industry on our oil addiction, that's all about US energy policy set by big oil lobbyist.

  • @CypressVanHorn Not only that, even though the Nissan Leaf uses less gas, it is an eyesore. Nowadays people want cars that look pleasing. We had electric cars a LONG time ago. But they were deemed unworthy after the use of oil

  • @stanleymarc007 KAKOMOIRA

  • volt only goes 40 miles on electric ?

    leaf 200mile full electric

    no competition

  • @dave777blaster yeah maybe if you live in the texas planes where there are no hills oh and its spring time with no wind. unbelievable conditions. in the real world there is wind, hills, and its colder or hotter than 72 degrees.

  • I want my fucking flying car already! >:(

  • volt wins

  • @MegaDeathwarrant

    Leaf wins hands down!

  • @MegaDeathwarrant For sure lol. It is not an ugly piece of shit like the Nissan.

  • That back of the Chevy Volt looks like the Toyota Prius. Dont you think people?

  • Also, the Nissan Leaf can fast-charge to 80% (80 miles) in 26 minutes. These fast-chargers are being installed at shopping malls, interstate rest-stops etc.

  • The Nissan leaf seats 3 in the back seat.

The Chevrolet volt seats 2 in the back seat.

  • Tell us a bit about the chemicals used in the batteries. How green are these cars at that point?

  • @3cl3c71k0r

Pretty green. Most people recycle the car batteries.

  • trololol

I really hoped the volt was going to really change motoring!!!!!!! but no. Only 320 of them sold in the first month.

another try and fail for efficient cars. /=

  • Lol on the last comment!

  • Chevy Volt an already obsolete American piece of shit!

  • wow the leaf sucks in comparison

  • After reading many of the negative Leaf comments I've come to this conclusion. If you drive way more than 30 miles to work, do not own or want to own a second car, live somewhere where you can't plug in your car at night, think it's ugly, and go on frequent vacations over 100 miles, don't buy the Leaf. This car was not built for you.

I don't fall into any of those categories and think the Volt is overpriced for what it is.

  • @FenderGibsonWashburn but cant you use the volt for longer and the price paid for two cars and insurance would cost more than just owning the volt

  • @middletonk True, but your example doesn't apply to me or anyone I know. Personally there is no way could I afford payments on one $40K Volt, same as I couldn't afford to buy two new cars at the same time as you imply. In 26 years of marriage we have always owned at least two cars. I live in a rural area with no bus or taxi service. All the families I know, the husband and wife each need a vehicle. Insurance on two cars is common and expected.

  • @FenderGibsonWashburn You have made a very astute observation. The leaf will only accommodate about 92 percent of the population so clearly there is no market for it!!!???, And the leaf wouldn't' satisfy our ignorant, head in the sand unquenchable thirst for foreign oil as well as the volt would either. By the way I am mostly a LesPaul guy:-) but Fenders and Washburns are great 2.

  • @jvmalum Actually my favorite option would be to see more gasoline powered cars converted to electric. That is a project I would like to attempt sometime in the near future.

My comments are based on the video content. I assume the reason they are comparing a hybrid and all electric is because they are recent releases, so it's not a true comparison. I just get so annoyed by all the nay sayers whenever anyone mentions electric vehicles. I ♥ LesPaul's too, I'm an equal opportunity guitarist ;-)

  • @FenderGibsonWashburn And still leaves us addicted to FOREIGN F'ING OIL!!!

  • It's pronounced "Niss an" not "nee son"

  • the Chevy makes more sense this early in the "electric" game.. it's going to be a good transission to a fully electric world.

  • @CE750 Apart from the fact it isn't electric, it's hybrid.....which has been out for ages!
