  • thanks for the upload, but if you are to rate in terms of sound quality on a scale of 1 to 10. what would you rate for CDs and Vinyl. thanks again :)

  • On Saturday, I replaced my Ortofon OM 5E cartridge with the Ortofon 2M Red on my Pro-Ject Debut III. I would NOT attempt the install yourself unless you have plenty of experience. I took it to an audio shop and had a pro do it for me. The pro who did the install needed to use different screws than the ones that came with the cartridge AND needed to replace the counterweight with a new one ($30). So the job is a bit tricky but once it was finished, WOW! The sound improvement was tremendous.

  • I'm looking to buy this exact turntable. Do you like? It seems to be a good turntable for the price. I also want to have a nice clear sound because I buy new records and want a really good quality with not too much noise. I also have the journal/clear vinyl edition of The King Of Limbs. Love it! Thanks.

  • @willregnier Nice job on getting the special edition of TKOL. I regret everyday not getting the special edition for "In Rainbows", now I'm stuck with crappy pressings of the standard edition. I'm definitely a big fan of the 10 inch 45's RPMs but it sure is annoying having to flip the record every two songs!

  • sounds great

  • if u record it as flac u lose quality?

  • @monkeh88 U loose the quality whatever format u convert anlouge into as u do AD conversion. U will lose as much as sound more compressed and as much the new digitezed's resoulution is.

  • if you upgrade to a 2M don't forget to check your counterweight. Standaard counterweight can only take cartridges up to 5 grams and if I'm not mistaking 2M weighs about 6 grams.

It is possible that you should also have to upgrade your counterweight.

  • @smetsjean thanks for the tip! I will definitely look into this... looking at replacing the cartridge pretty soon.

  • I have the exact same turntable setup as you!

  • @RkivUnderground Nice!! Have you upgraded the table at all? I'm thinking of getting a new cartridge.... I spin a lot of records and feel like it's time to replace the needle... but a for a few bucks more I can get a better cartridge than the the one that comes standard with the TT.

  • I don't mean to be negative nancy, but couldn't you have recorded directly from your turntable or amp? Because half of what I'm hearing is your room acoustics, which kind of makes me not want to bother with this upload at all.

But thanks anyway, it's the thought that counts.

  • @someguymanthingness I did it just for fun, I feel that recording it in MP3 defeats the purpose of the vinyl format, as there's going to be compression regardless of the bitrate. I also don't like pre-amps or turntables with USB outputs. Thanks for your input though, keep spinning those records!
