You could eat as much raw vegan food as you wanted and NEVER get fat. You would crap your brains out before you would gain weight. That is, if you're 100% raw.
I've found that to be true for whole raw foods, but when you start making things like raw cakes with lots of dates and lots of nuts and such, you can gain weight. The foods are no longer whole and do react differently in the body when condensed in mixes like that. There are people who gain weight while eating raw, because they don't listen to their bodies and they eat too many of the wrong things.
For most it is hard to gain fat-weight on raw, but some do, it's possible to do it wrong.
I'm sorry to hear that. What I actually meant to say was that you could never gain weight from just eating raw fruits and vegetables, not raw food in general.
I like the scoring of the avocado and getting the seed out! It would be better when mixing to have your salad in a bigger bowl.Looks like a yummy salad.
thanks for the receipe, one step is missing...I have seen several people ask how much olive oil should be used. it is never mentioned in the video. I want to make this sald for dinner tonight but can't until I get the measurement on the olive oil...
that looks really good! was there a step missed? i heard "get the avocado mixed with the oil you just drizzled on there." Either way it looks delicious and I'm excited about it! Apples! Who would've thought?
A purist would not call this a waldorf of course, but I don't mind. I would not have thought of putting these ingredients together, but it is quite delicious. Much appreciated, thanks.
stone-crushed cold-pressed extra-virgin organic olive oil is the oil of choice ---and for the cayenne pepper, terry stiers says:.. the cayenne pepper is there for "zing". Try using just a tiny pinch to see if that works. If not, you can sub any spice that is "hot" that you like, perhaps paprika, or chili powder. The idea is to make the recipe your own.
I made this today and I think I used too much cayenne pepper...either that or I just don't like cayenne pepper. Are there any other spices that would work for this salad?
After many years, this recipe still remains one of my favorites of all time :)

Two avocados sounds like a lot of fat for one person to eat daily. I mean I love them and they are a good fat, but fat all the same.

For me, it was kale salad that helped me stay raw. I made it for dinner every single evening for a while.
