  • i need to teach my dog that lol but without the shock collar :)

  • @emochick56651 The great thing about our Sit Means Sit collar is that it has variable intensity, just like varying a leash tug, except you can do it from a distance. A lot of times people's dogs bark when they are away from you like outside or something. In any case, good luck in however you do it!

  • @fredhassen i think most dogs bark when ur outside or where ever because they might have separation anxiety. i could be wrong cuz im only 16 and im not a dog trainer lol :P

  • @emochick56651 Well it's good you are trying to learn! We have over 600 videos and I do a new one every day so I'm sure you will learn some stuff. Thanks for watching!

  • @emochick56651 i agree, i think these guys are pretty good dog trainers and they way they do it and use the collar isnt really mean but you're right, there is a way to do it without the collar. i also need to teach my dog that, well actually, i should have taught him that. lol unfortunately we had to put our 13 yr old Yellow Lab, Bailey down last July (2009), he was a great dog, i still miss him :( so unfortunately, i dont have a dog right now but im definately gonna teach my next dog this. lol

  • @KDOGG331 its gonna take me a while to teach my dog this. my dog is 2 yrs old and he doesnt listen that much -.-" but he knows his basic commands like sit, stay, paw and lay down (well for the most part he listens to them lol) my dog is very smart (collie shepherd mix) but he just doesnt listen or pay attetion.

  • @emochick56651 yeah, it probably will take a while then. lol but you can get there. he sounds smart. maybe you should try making him want to pay attention? haha i think a good way to do that may be to give him treats intermittently/spontaniously when he does a good job. like dont give him a treat evry time, but dont just make it every other time or some pattern either, he'll catch on, lol. make it random so that he never knows when he's gonna get a treat so then he pays attention cause he may

  • @emochick56651 get a treat that time so its worthwhile paying attention to you. lol

  • @emochick56651 i really should tech my next dog this though (but without the collar) cause the excessive barking gets annoying... lol i think i read somewhere though that it is possible to do this without the collar. i think when they start barking, you can distract them and tell them enough. i think the way i read for teaching quiet though was that when they do that (bark) you stand in front of them with your arm crossed and make some sweeping motion across (basically, uncross them) while...

  • @emochick56651 ...saying "Quiet". or u could distract them and say it, i think thats actually part of it, u get them to bark then maybe distract them and/or do the "Quiet" thing i just mentioned in the last part, but i think you have to do it when theyre barking. i think another way may be to "scare them" but not enough to hurt them or tramatize them or anything, this may even count to distract them, or use a toy or something else for that, but2scare them into stopping, even for a moment, u can

  • @KDOGG331 whenever my dog sees a toy he "attacks" (jumps on) u for the toy. yea i know thats a bad thing for him to do and i turn my back on him so he realizes that is wrong but it doesnt work. i think my dog has problems lol but i love him anyway xD

  • @emochick56651 and yes jumping isnt good, but again, this are all things that can be corrected. with the turning your back on him thing, thats good and its a start, but when he does that, you have to completely ignore him. yes, the turning away thing is good, but while you do that you must completely ignore him, no eye contact, verbal interactions, nothing. and keep turning ur back to him if he goes back in front of you. i know its difficult to do but you have to try or else, he'll never learn.

  • @emochick56651 also, try only petting him when he has all 4 paws on the ground, push him away, turn, and ignore him when he does that until hes sitting/standing politely with all 4 paws on the ground. also, when he jumps you should try not to use down to get him off because that is already a command and he may get confused or something, instead, try saying "off". itll be difficult but he sounds like a smart dog, you just need to get him to pay attention to u but youll get there eventually.

  • @KDOGG331 i mean push him away when he jumps up, not when he has all 4 paws on the ground, just wanna be clear on that. lol sorry

  • @emochick56651 he sounds like a good dog though, youll get there, just keep trying, dont give up on him. :) oh and im also 16 (17 in March), i just love animals. lol oh and sorry for all the posts... haha

  • @emochick56651 fill a coffee or soda can or something with rocks or beans or something that'll make a relatively loud noise and put the lid back on (if it has one) and toss it in their direction. it should stun them enough to stop or at least be curious. and actually, i think when you throw it at them, you can use the "Quiet" comamand then too. but maybe not, im not really sure, i think the goal is to get them to not associate the can with you, throw it ahead of them, you dont want them to be

  • @emochick56651 scared of you, just the can that randomly flew out of nowhere and made a scary noise. haha i think this works for pulling too cause whenever they pull, you can throw the can in front of them (again, so as not to associate it with you) and then they wont wanna pull cause if they do a scary can comes flying out of nowhere. haha or you can just stop and call them back to you when they do that and/or turn around and walk the other direction, either ways fine, cause then they learn...

  • @emochick56651 ...that if they pull they never get to go where they want to go, so they should eventually stop.

  • @emochick56651 wow, sorry for all the long posts... haha but i hope i helped. :)

  • @emochick56651 i think i might make some dog training videos, if and when i ever get another dog cause i think itd be fun and hopefully helpful... haha we just got a new kitten last month though so im not really sure we're looking for a new puppy or dog too right now... lol but when i get one, ill make some videos. hope i helped. :)
