  • Good Jam!!

  • Where was I? - How did I miss this great show at the Freight & Salvage!? Just saw Bobby Black there last night, with Tony Marcus.

  • Bobby Black was the man he and Bill Kirchen carried Commander Cody and the L P A for years

  • Bob black.

  • That is the great clarinet player Jim Rothermal

  • Bobby plays the Dobro well, but rarely takes it out, as his reputation is based on his work with pedal steel. While the purists might have preferred the Dobro, the Bobby Black fans expect to hear pedal steel. I've added tributes to both Bobby and the Black Brothers to my channel as well (with permission from Bobby and Linda Black). The Black Brothers were big influences in my life.

  • To keep it "acoustic" Bobby Black should;ve played the dobro.

  • Bobby Black RULES!

  • Nailed it!!

  • Nice Swing Band Y'all

  • A-haa, He sounds like Tommy Duncan, great voice, He is ok, Good timeing. berni

  • Full sound! Good swing! I liked the vocals and musical interpretation.

  • I love it!

  • Boys this was one of the best covers of this song I've ever heard! Vocals and most importantly the music! BY THE WAY: how could you remember Tom Duncan and NOT remember the name of the Texas Playboys hahaha. 6 stars -1 for that fact :P

  • Great swing sound and vocals

  • That's Bobby Black on Steel - he is the greatest steel player ever, yet has not had the recognition he deserves and prefers to be a sideman. I met him several times and he is the most congenial and smartest musician around ever. He has wonderful solo Albums.

  • Yes indeed. Bobby is one of a kind and an extraordinary talent. It has been an honor to document him all these years. This cut is one of my favorites and the talent on stage was really quite astounding. I hope YouTube viewers will run searches on musicians listed in the credits. Each are highly respected musicians, both by other musicians and listeners. Bobby has been inducted into the Steel Hall of Fame, and his legacy is a gift to all of us. • These guys are great. If you like acoustic cowboy music you might check out Bill Barwick also.

    Thanks for the video.

  • Wonderful swing. Great vocalist and wonderful musicians. Thanks for posting.

  • This is the best I've heard in a long time. Keep up the good work. I can't get enough of swing music.

  • They played last night...12 of them...and it was a fantastic show! Don't miss them the next time they come to the Freight!

  • This is amazing! Please post more. LB

  • Peg.. Thank you. Regarding posting more, I have documented a wide array of artists in our community for over 2 decades. The advent of new distribution technologies such as YouTube have made access to these archives possible. The artists who have been kind enough to allow documentation over the years remain the last say on distribution of their archival material. I'll release more material as the artists adjust to new technologies. Support live music in your community.

  • Thats a good band.

  • xms32... thank you for the comment. Yes they are a very seasoned group of musicians. The clip reflects the band as it was 18 years ago. The band continues playing today. The original core players are still playing, and there have also been some additions over the years. • Impressive band, and rendition of swing classic!

  • Verlon your comments are appreciated, I also viewed some of your favorite clips and found them most enjoyable. As you are probably aware Bobby was inducted into the Steel Guitar Hall of Fame in St. Louis recently. I appreciated your earmarking of so many great players that I rarely get to see. So thanks again for the response and the clips of great performances. Keep on picking.

  • Glad to hear you appreciate the "old" greats. That's

definitely my speed. You really have to hunt to find

listenable music these days! THE ANSWER is to go to the archives OR find guys like these! Have you seen

    much Southern Gospel on here? 50s, 60s, 70s ?

  • Thank you for your comments. Regarding the release of archival tapes... it is entirely in the hands of the hundreds of artists I have documented over the years. Thank you again for your comments please visit the band's site for more info. Support live music in your community.

  • Cowboy Jazz..Western Swing ! ! ! This is a terrific rendition of a classic. Hearing these guys trade solos is a splendid example of Jazz tradition and the players are awesome. I am very familiar with Bobby Blacks expertise as he is clearly one of the best in the field, but the other players are great as well. So this cut is 18 years old !!! Quit hoarding treasures like this for yourself. Thanks for the post pardner keep up the great work.

  • True to the original but with its own twist . . . well done! Great instrument solos, great vocal. Thanks for posting this.
