great job of covering the solo it took me ages to learn it because their are some very tricky phrases in it and have you tried it on a fender telecaster before because i think it sounds more accurate on a tele but thats just me and those old wem amps jimmy used to use in the late 60,s are impossible to get a hold of today
@shredmaster100 I have not tried it on a tele but I will some day. This particular version was part of a 4 part demo of that specific guitar. The original studio version of Page's sounds awesome on his tele. For the live version, not sure why he chose to go with a Gibson double neck instead of a Fender double neck....unless Fender would not make him one.
yeah i dont know why maybe fender didnt make double necked guitars back then and telecasters are good just make sure if you use one to raise the bridge pickup for more bite
Great job. I would kill for that guitar and that tone. But it's too bad they don't make a Jimmy Page telecaster, since that is what he used to record this solo. :)
nice !! really great job dude i saw all your other vids this has probably the closest tone to page's guitar . can you tell me how you set your amp eq to that tone??
@jewcrew102 I heard this too, and like jewcrew says, you play it really good, and like 100 times better than me, but one thing I learned about the repeating part at 0:33, is that the c, b string 13th fret, should come at the beat. Not just before. At the "one", so to speak.
I was pretty sure the push/pull pot on the #1 was a phase reversing switch, rather than a coil tap. He talks about it in the video that Gibson made before taking his #1 to be copied, which you can find on here. The #2 has phase switching as well as coil tapping. Regardless, that squawky sound is phenomenal.
@danakerman yes, the signature guitar's wiring is not exactly like Page's original guitar. on the signature, the pot is for coil splitting and the middle toggle position is for phase reversal. the Page #2 signature guitar has the exact wiring of Page's real #2
Thats perfect like my stairway to heaven video sucks because i fought and fought to get the right tone and never did and just said fuck it. But right there you got the perfect tone its sounds exactly like stairway to heaven man what amp did you us and on what settings?!? If i knew i would re record my video because i have a epiphone set up like jimmys guitar.
@pigvonrow1215 well, first of all, Jimmy used a Fender Telecaster in the original recording. So the single coil setting is the closest for the this guitar. But the pickups in this guitar are Page Burst Buckers which can not be purchased separately from the guitar; they have Alnico 5 magnets and a special winding. So that could be a problem for you if you are using a different guitar. The amp is a Marshall JCM 900 100 watt 2x12 combo with a Marshall power brake. No pedals, no special settings.
Single coil is always my favorite, I just hate that hum! Have you tried this on a pre-95 PRS Custom 24? You get that growl when you use that HFS and bass pickup combo!
according to larry dimarzio, yes, i asked him a question about how my pickup sounded really nasally and he said that one of the coils had shorted out and was acting like a single coil.. but my pickup had no hum
sometimes my burstbucker can sound really bright and i was wondering if one of the coils had failed guess its possible now..thanks for the reply mate:)
that is the push/pull pot for the bridge pickup; in the up position like that, it splits the pickup into single coil, so that it sounds more like the Fender telecaster that Jimmy Page used to record the original Stairway solo.

is that the number 2 model ? because I don't see the 2 hidden switch under your pick guard

@ahhgrrrrr No, that is the Page #1. Page #2 is a different color with a different flame pattern & different magnet in the bridge pickup

is it possible for a humbucker to be broken somehow so that only one of your coils are working..?
